08/04: Bawling. CRYING. AHHH 😭😭😭 it’s like the type of sad that is stuck in your throat. Not like a loud and sloppy cry but an internal scream because I refuse to believe that it happened the way that it did.
Anyways picked up this book because I wanted to review my Chinese and it was a bit patchy for me but overall not bad!
This book is such a like 心灵鸡汤 like a warm soup on a rainy day but also has such a gut punch in the end. Because as funny as it is in the beginning, the sadder it is in the end. Just damn. The writing style is very intimate and I LOVE the descriptive way the author sets up each scene she has such a way with words that just delivers the emotion the right way.
Also AGH. The characters. Gosh each character had such a great arch and story and they fit together so well. It was very human and very laughable at times but also just very real which made it hurt more in the end.
The only thing was that sometimes the plot felt like it was jumping around a bit which made me lose touch with the fictional world for a few seconds but I think it’s just because of my lack of comprehension in Chinese lol.
Anyways time to watch the movie on this and pray I don’t cry my eyes out!!
Fairly light and eh for most of the book - entertaining enough, easy to read, not particularly memorable. The last quarter just hits you out of nowhere with overkill on the bittersweet - be warned. Don't read if you're already in a down mood.
