Faith's charmed life is complicated by her romantic feelings for her uncle's apprentice, but will her family's interference and criminal accusations keep her and Nico apart, perhaps forever?
Blessed from the moment of her birth, Faith Davenport is adored by everyone and has led a life guided by her charitable, Christian parents. At ease with her family's expectations and her own strength of belief, she finds creative joy in exploring her Uncle Will's architecture business.
Nico d'Amici is thrilled with the opportunity to apprentice to Will Travers, well-known for his practical and unique architectural designs, but discovers a deeper emotion when a friendship with Travers's kind, beautiful, and intelligent niece intensifies. Faith's best friend, her cousin Thomas, intervenes, but his efforts to keep them apart are nothing compared to accusations of theft that threaten not only the friendship between the three of them but Nico's very freedom.
Can Faith live up to her name as an example of trusting in God's strength as she fights what may be a losing battle to save the man she loves from prison?
Cecily K. Wolfe is the author of the award-winning, best selling Cliff Walk Courtships Christian historical romance series as well as the sequel series, Cliff Walk Cousins, and the Heart Lake Christian contemporary romance series.
She holds a master's degree with honors in library science from Kent State University and worked as a public services librarian, serving those in lower income areas of Northeast Ohio before focusing on writing full-time.
Faithful in Love was a very enjoyable story. It is the beginning of the new Cliff Walk Cousins series. This story can be read as a stand alone novel, yet the main characters who appear in this series are the children of the main characters from the connected series, Cliff Walk Courtships, and their parents do appear many times in this book. I thought that the author did a good job of giving enough background information about the prior series without there being an information overload.
I really liked the main characters, Faith and Nico. They were genuinely nice people and it made me hope for the best for them. This story kept my interest and included not only the beginnings of a beautiful romance, but also family angst, trouble with the police, and touched on the topic of discrimination.
I listened to the audio version and thought that the narrator did a good job. She also narrated the books in the first series, so I was familiar with her style of narration. I look forward to future books in this series.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
The story is a clean historical Christian-based romance tale. It will take place in Newport, Rhode Island and begin in 1906 to set up the tale and then pick it up in 1914. The story revolves around several wealthier families that are related. The cousins are very close, especially Thomas (adopted) and Faith. Both have been working with their Uncle Will Travers, who is an architect. A new coming, Nico, wants to help with the design his family wants for a new restaurant.
The story's plot will have Nico d'Amici coming from Manhattan to Newport to oversee the family restaurant plans. Together, Will, Nico, Thomas, and Faith will all contribute input into the design plans. There is an instant chemistry between Nico and Faith—and Thomas has issues with that.
"I don't want to cause any problems for your family. Family is the most important part of my own life, and I am sure it is in yours. I would not come between you and your nephew."
I like the characters in the story; there is just enough family loyalty, angst, secrets, and determination to keep the pages turning. The tension between Thomas and Nico is an issue with Thomas, but it turns ugly eventually. Will sees the potential for Nico to apprenticeship and offers him that chance. A unique new skyscraper has been commissioned, and it must remain top secret—but something goes wrong—the plans don't make it to the right person—and Nico is accused.
"The more of you off the streets, the better. You should have stayed in your own country."
The story has the good, the bad, and the ugly of people. It was good to see that the families were willing to fight injustice when Nico was arrested and taken from Newport to Manhattan. Best of all was seeing Thomas and Faith working together to help. Sadly, not everyone is judged the same, especially by the police. But, in the end, truth and justice right the wrongs.
"Sometimes the plan God has for us is better than we could ever expect."
I love the characters' faith, how they all have strong Christian principles and aren't afraid to pray—have faith in God—and lend a hand to those in need.
My one complaint about this story is the formatting that does not break between scenes that change, including different characters. You are reading and feel confused because it is a different location, day, or people in the next paragraph.
Faith, a very strong, emotional female lead. I absolutely love this book. The historical aspect of the romance and the fact that it is centered on such a strong, loving family is beyond awesome. I appreciate the fact that this romantic novel was written so sweetly and that all the characters are such strong in their faith and love of God. When vital information comes up missing, boy, I was so wrong as to who my accused was. The characters came to life in my head, and I could picture myself in the era of the book. My favorite character must be Evie though, since all she seems to care about are books, I can relate to her so well! A great read full of intrigue, mystery, faith, and romance. I cannot wait to read the other books in this series. I just love how the family sticks together to help a friend and that it is done in such an innocent and pure form of love. A must read! I just love the fact that old-fashioned courting was taking place. Who doesn’t like a good romance that is clean and pure and perfect?
Faithful in Love is the first book in the Cliff Walk Cousins trilogy by Cecily K. Wolfe. It is an historical Christian romance, with some drama, angst, obstacles, jealousy, belief, and family connections. This is the first book that I have read from this author, so I really didn’t know what to expect from her work- but I was intrigued enough to want to find out what she could do. I now understand that this trilogy is a spin-off from the Cliff Walk Courtship series, but I didn’t feel like I was missing anything by not having read that series first. So, this can be read as a standalone. Having said that, I will probably go back and read the original series, at some stage, just to find out what happens there. We meet Faith Davenport as she develops feelings for her uncle’s apprentice. But things get complicated when Nico faces prison. If you love Christian romance with a historical atmosphere, inspirational content, a sweet story with a little drama, and characters with substance- then this is definitely the story for you. Happy Reading!
I love finding new authors and series. This book is the first book in this series and also first book from this author I have read. I enjoy a nice historical romance once in a while and this certainly was just that. I liked the fact that this was a clean romance. It made quite a change from the norm and was very well written. The characters are realistic and quickly draw in the reader.
I really enjoyed the escape into this world along with the balance of romance and just the right amount of drama. I found that the book was a breath of fresh air. The author brings the characters to life and I just did not want to put the book down. I will read more from this author in the future and this series.
I loved reading this book. The feelings between Nico and Faith was pulling on my heartstrings. Family means so much to these two it almost nips things in the bud. Being in historical 1900's was a great look into the world that was so long ago and the mannerisms and culture. Nico's background of not having much hit close to home. I felt for him because i know what it's like. Having a relatable character is huge for me. It makes the story more real. The pacing in this book was well paced out, it didn't take too long or drug it out at a slow pace. The writing was phenomenal. It felt like I was right there being a background character watching these events between Nico and Faith happen. I cant wait to read the next books in this series!
Cecily K. Wolf has written a book that I read more than once because it was such an entertaining and "feel good" story. This is the first book in the Christian historical romance series about families, emotional romance, and positive relationships. "Faithful in Love" is the story of a blessed but sheltered youth named Faith who meets a worldly and talented man named Nico who is apprenticing at her Uncle Will's architecture business as his assistant. Nico finds Faith lovely and talented but her cousin Thomas doubts the relationship. The actions of Thomas threaten not only Nico's relationship with Faith but also his freedom. An entertaining and emotionally-good read.
A sweet historic romance between wealthy Faith and from the city Nico. As the story begins it is clear that Faith and her cousin Thomas are very close and you might expect the budding romance to be between them as Thomas is adopted. But then Nico comes to help her uncle with a project and they both seem to be very interested in one another. As events take place it becomes clear that Faith must trust in hers to make it through each occurrence. By the end of the story, she has developed quite a lot from a very naïve and innocent young lady to one who is starting to fully understand the bad and ugly that is around her.
I loved this book! Faith has led a charmed life in Newport Beach in the early 1900’s. She and her cousin Thomas are best friends and do almost everything together. They’ve been raised to help those less fortunate and assist at their family’s foundation First Steps. Faith and Thomas also assist their uncle in his architectural business. When their uncle hires an apprentice who’s interested in Faith, Their closeness seems to be in jeopardy. When the apprentice is arrested for theft everyone comes together to get to the bottom of the problem.
While I must admit historical fiction has never been my cup of tea I did truly enjoy this one. I love the fact that it is faith based. I have never read anything by this author prior, but I appreciate the fact that she so easily draws you in and keeps you wanting more. This is not your cut and dry Christian romance, there is angst, family drama, and jealousy as well. I appreciate this author's writing style and look forward to reading the next book in this series, and hopefully more from her in the future!
This book is so good!!!! From the prologue, I was transported to the early 1900s and felt like I was there in Newport where the story takes place. This author has a way of pulling you into the story and makes the characters so real, you feel like you know them. As for the plot, it wasn't cookie cutter... There was drama and plot twists, but thankfully it ended with a HEA. Can't wait to read the next book in the series!!!
Faithful in Love (Cliff Walk Cousins Book 1) by Cecily K. Wolfe 4 of 5 Stars I thoroughly enjoyed this heartwarming and uplifting first book in the ‘Cliff Walk Cousins’ series of Christian historical romances. This story focuses on sheltered and blessed Christian girl, Faith Davenport and her Uncles’s apprentice Nico d'Amici, who brings unexpected romance into her life. Faith enjoys spending time at her Uncle’s architecture business as his assistant when she meets Will, who is pleased to be offered the opportunity to apprentice to well known and respected Will Travers. Will was not expecting to meet Faith and to have an immediate connection with her. Unfortunately Faith’s cousin Thomas is not pleased by their growing friendship and does his best to intervene in their relationship. However, soon the couple have more problems when accusations of theft threatens Nico’s freedom. Can Faith fight not only her family but also keep the man she loves out of prison. This is a wonderfully written romance with plenty of plot twists and drama that had me hooked from page one. The author made both the era and the setting come to life though the descriptive narrative and historical details, making me feel immersed in the story. I loved Faith and Nico and was hoping they would get their HEA. I look forward to some of the secondary characters getting their own stories in future books in this series.
This book was an awesome beginning to what I am sure will be a great series. I generally do not read Christian based books, as I find most of them to be overbearing on the religion, but that was not the case with this one. Historical fiction is also not a common choice for me, but this one was so well done that other than the occasional reference to carriages and period specific things, it was easy to forget that it even was a historical based book. My only issue with this book is that sometimes the scene changes were a bit abrupt and without warning, but otherwise, this book and this author were well worth the time and effort to read. I look forward to the rest of the books in this series.
I loved this story so much! Whilst I do love a steamy romance read it’s also sometimes really nice to read a pure, simple, clean romance and this is exactly what I got from this book! I loved the setting for the story and because of the authors attention to detail and her wonderful writing I felt like I had been transported back to the early 1900’s. I could really feel how much the author had put in to the characters and their story, it really came across well. I loved Faith and Nico and their story was a joy to read. I am very much looking forward to reading more from this series!
What a sweet and wonderful romance fhia book is. I thought it was a great example of Historical romance done right. The author has created a varied cast of characters that all really add to the storyline of the book. It really feels like they are at the heart of it. The ebb and flow of the story was really well done. It is gradually developed over the course of the whole book and I liked how the authoe built it up. This is a thoroughly enjoyable book well worth reading.
I had not yet had the pleasure to read anything by this wonderful author, but that has officially changed. I must say I am very much hooked. I fell in love with the writing of this author, and their use of fine details and how they used words, I really felt like I time jumped. It was amazing and a beautiful read.
I loved the book and as I said the use of fine details. The use of the words really made me feel like I was in that era of time. I loved that feeling, and the book was realistic when I read as one could get truly! I really felt a connection with both Faith and Nico. They were two souls that were not out to get anyone. They have to face things, that were not easy. Something I enjoyed on this book on the realism it held, was that not everyone in the town had best interests at stake I found. I loved how the book kept you guessing and how one thing led to another. I honestly was not sure how things would turn out. Loved this!
Amazing book and I do very much highly recommend you picking this one up, it is for sure one that is worth the read. I will be for sure enjoying more by this gifted author. They crafted a book that was perfect in every which way, and I really enjoyed reading it, and I would say that you would too!
This is the first book in the Cliff Walk Cousins series. I really enjoyed this historical romance. The author does an amazing job of transporting the reader back to the 1900s. The writing makes you feel like you are backing living in that era.
This is the story of Faith and Nico. Faith comes from a very priviledge background. Growing up Faith and her cousin Thomas have always been close however as they get older someone threatens that relationship. That person is Nico.
Nico is so happy to get the apprenticeship at Will Travers architects. Things seem to be going good. Even better once he sets his eye on Faith. As their relationship grows, Thomas decides this relationship can't happen so trys everything in his power to stop them being together. However his attempts may not matter when a accusation of thief comes again Nico. Now with Nico's freedom in jepody can Faith keep her belief and trust in God to save the man she loves or will she lose it all?
This is such a sweet inspirational love story. The author really brings the story to life with her vivid descriptions. She paints a picture that drew me right into the story from the very first page and made me feel like I was a part of it. Faith and Nico come from such different backgrounds but they find themselves drawn together when he takes on a job as her uncles apprentice. It isn't fair how class differences can come into play so dramatically when it comes to relationships. This book does a good job of showing the obstacles that a couple from different backgrounds can face. Nico finds him self in trouble through no fault of his own and Faith really has to lean on her beliefs and those closest to her to make it through the storm. This is a sweet romance that you won't want to miss. I am definitely looking forward to reading future books in this series.
What a lovely clean historical fiction! This book takes place in 1914 in Newport, Rhode Island. The main character is Faith Davenport. Faith is pure, sweet, and a little naive. At times, she is so naive and innocent that it was a little annoying and almost unbelievable, but regardless, she is a likable character. She has a strong faith in God, but that faith is tested. Faith is very close to her adopted cousin, Thomas. That relationship is tested when they meet and work with Nico d’Amici. Nico comes to Newport to work with Faith’s uncle where Nico and Faith fall in love. When Nico is in trouble, Faith and her close family come to help him. It was a great story that kept me interested and is worth the time to read!
I loved reading this story. This is a new author for me which I look forward to reading more from this author in the future. This is a well written story where the characters pulled me in from the beginning. They kept the story not only engaging but entertaining to read. This is a fast paced story that kept me coming back for more. This was a hard to put down story where the author used details to make the story easy to read. This is a story about Faith and Nico. Faith is a Christian young woman who starts to fall for her Uncle's apprentice. Nico is excited about the position he took with his Uncle but it could cost him his freedom when a friendship turns romantic. They are great characters who brought the story to life. They have great chemistry and growth throughout the story. This is a must read story that you will fall in love with. It is written with a lot of heart and soul. This is a really great story and I highly recommend it.
This inspirational romance is so sweet! Faiths kind heart does not go unnoticed. Even though she was born into a comfortable life she has such a kind giving heart. When Thomas comes into her life a friendship blooms over tragedy. Fast forward and in comes Nico with his handsome looks and sweet nature. As Faith learns that tragedy can strike in any family she begins to understand and grow more. Can Faith overcome all of these challenges and continue to keep her kind heart?
This is the first book in this Christian historical romance trilogy set in the early 1900's in America. This is also my first book by this author. I didn’t read the first series but managed to get through this tale just fine. There are inspirational themes throughout the story along with some drama and twists and turns. The characters are likeable and have a strong family backing when things turn for the worse. Despite being from different classes in life and prejudice they find love. It is interesting and easy-to-read.
What a wonderful, clean Christian romance that wasn’t just a quick to marriage story. Faith has grown up a part of one of the more well off families in town but her connection to the First Step shelter has kept her humble. Her best friend turned adopted cousin Thomas and her love to help their uncle with his architect business. During one of his commissions he decides to bring on an apprentice who shakes things up for the family. Will Thomas and Faith’s friendship be able to withstand the trials that come when a theft is discovered? Will love win out? Is family truly more than just blood?
A review copy of this book was provided in exchange for my honest opinion. Book Description Faith's charmed life is complicated by her romantic feelings for her uncle's apprentice, but will her family's interference and criminal accusations keep her and Nico apart, perhaps forever?

Can Faith live up to her name as an example of trusting in God's strength as she fights what may be a losing battle to save the man she loves from prison? My Review My Review This book was one of the best books I have read in a really long time. I liked Faith a lot in this story. When the book starts out, Faith helps her family at a shelter in New Port, Rhode Island in the year 1914. She meets this boy named Thomas and he gets things for his father there. As time goes on, Thomas father passes away and Faith are called back to the shelter because he is there. As time goes on, Faith’s uncle and aunt adopt Thomas and now he is her cousin. He is very protective of her also.
As time goes on, Nico Amici shows up from Manhattan and he is Italian and from a large family. Anyway he goes to work for Faith’s uncle and Thomas does not like him at all. Faith falls for Nico and Nico really like Faith also. I can’t imagine realizing that you love someone but the father of the girl’s approval. How things are so different these days. This book really keeps you interested, in fact so much that I just didn’t want to put it down.
As time goes on, Nico gives 2 tubes of plans for a skyscraper in Manhattan, New York. Well come to find out, it did not to the right people and Nico is arrested. So, Faith and Thomas and her whole family go to New York and help Nico out. This is such a good book. I know that you would enjoy it as I have, of course the history of things too. I have probably said too much so am not going to say anymore or I will ruin the story for you. I just loved this book so much.
I would suggest you pickup this book and read it, and you won’t be sorry. I would suggest this book to my family and friends. I hope I can read more by Cecily Wolfe, she is a wonderful author. Thank you Cecily for giving me this opportunity to read the book and give my review, it has been a GREAT journey.
Cecily Wolfe writes the most beautiful, engaging characters.
Although this is the first book in the Cliff Walk Cousins series, it follows characters from Wolfe's previous Cliff Walk Courtships trilogy. Or rather, it follows the children of the protagonists from that series. There are a lot of random Easter eggs sprinkled throughout this book for those who read the first trilogy, but I think everything would still make sense without that background.
Now, back to the characters, and the meat of this review. This book focuses on Faith Davenport and Nico d'Amici, who (unsurprisingly) fall in love despite being from dramatically different stations. This is a common theme in Wolfe's historical fiction, and one that I have yet to grow tired of. When Nico is unjustly accused of a crime he didn't commit, things spiral out of control for the two. As things go from bad to worse, Faith's loyalty and belief in Nico is tested.
Watching Faith and her family stand up for Nico when no one else does is so refreshing. It seems to be rare these days to read about characters who look out for others simply out of the goodness of their heart and their belief in what is true. We actually see more interactions between Faith and her family rather than Faith and Nico, which provides an interesting palette for the story to unfold. Overall, Faithful in Love is a very enjoyable and easy-to-read book. I look forward to the rest of the series!
Outstanding book. This book is beyond excellent it just that good and it is so well-written it was a pure joy to read. The characters Thomas, Faith, and Nico were outstanding in fact the whole cast of characters were splendid. Set in the early 1900's America you have a book that incorporates the growth during that time. Nico is an apprentice to Will Travers here he will meet Faith and Thomas. Some serious challenges will face Nico and Faith and her family must decide how to meet those challenges. I loved the writing in this one it flowed and totally captivated me right from the start. This has to be one of the best books I have read in a long time. I highly recommend it. I did receive a free copy of this book from Booksprout and voluntarily chose to review it.
This is my first book by this author. I first thought that Faith’s cousin, Thomas, was in love with her. It is her adoptive cousin. But he was just protective of her. I thought thomas and Nico were going to have a rivalry over Faith but it turns out Thomas just wasn’t going to like any man that was interested in his cousin. This book focused on having faith through trials and on the blooming love of Nico and Faith. It also touched on prejudice. I didn’t read the first series that I am guessing featured Faith’s parents and Aunt and Uncles so I felt like I was missing part of the book. It is definitely a stand alone but I think I would recommend reading that series first.
This book is so good. It hooks you on the first page and doesn't let go. The author makes the book come to life and it has just enough drama and twists and turns to keep you turning the pages. I loved this book and can't wait to read the next one in this series. I received a complimentary copy and was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are my own.
Faithful in Love (Cliff Walk Cousins Book 1) by Cecily K. Wolfe
Faithful in Love is the first book in the Cliff Walk Cousins Series. This is a Historical Romance/Christian book that I absolutely loved reading. This is a fairly new author to me but I’ve already looked to see what other books she has. Im definitely going to check them out. I’m a huge fan of Historical Romance/Christian Romance and this book definitely checked all the boxes. I was pulled in from the beginning and had a terrible time putting it down. I caught myself saying one more chapter several times. This is a story about Faith and Nico. Faith finds herself starting to fall for her uncle’s apprentice who just happens to be Nico. He’s extremely happy with his apprenticeship for his uncle. but what will happen when their friendship turns more romantic? I loved these two especially Faith. I found myself a little emotional at times . I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I can’t wait to read more from this Author. I’m very excited about this series.
I do like and enjoyed the story. There were some areas of the piece that left me questioning what happened. The ending, I was not completely sure about Thomas’ side of the story as I had a glimpse of Nico and Faith’s side of what’s been happening. Then, I believe something with the letter from Ruby was not mentioned later other than her coming back when things started happening. What happened with her? I also did notice some misspelt words but that doesn’t affect the story. I did have to reread the sentence a couple of times before understanding what the author really meant. I would like to see more prayers and more of the characters going to God about the challenges they faced. But the storyline did leave me wanting more. It was a good read in all. Very much enjoyed it.
