A BRAND NEW SET OF RULES: DISCOVER HOW TO THINK WELL, MAKE BETTER DECISIONS AND SOLVE PROBLEMS. DISCOVER THE RULES OF THINKING.
We all envy the natural thinkers of this world. They have the best ideas, make the smartest decisions, are open minded and never indecisive.
Is there something they know that the rest of us don't? Is it something we can all learn? The answer is a resounding yes. They know The Rules of Thinking.
These Rules are the guiding principles that show you how to make wiser decisions, stop procrastinating, know when to compromise, avoid mistakes, find other options, think well with others, stop obsessing about things, keep your brain active, be more creative, and have happy, healthy thoughts. You'll be that person who knows their own mind - in every sense.
Richard Templar is an astute observer of human behavior and understands what makes the difference between those of us who effortlessly glide towards success and those of us who struggle against the tide. He has distilled these observations into his Rules titles. More than 1 million people around the world have enjoyed and now play by Richard Templar's Rules.
A good book but something is missing. The rules of thinking is new book from popular self-help author Richard Templar. The ideas, or rules, presented in the book are hard to disagree with but still it would be proper to cite the sources when referencing to "scientifically proven" facts.
In summary, this is an easy read for anyone who wants to start improve their thinking. After finishing this, one should, in my opinion, continue with David Robson's The Intelligence Trap and/or Daniel Kahneman's Thinking, Fast and Slow.
This has a list of rules for various situations such as creative thinking, the text that explains them didn't seem to hold much content to me and while interesting hasn't really given me new ideas.
"The Rules of Thinking" is a thought-provoking book that mixes familiar ideas with new insights. Whether you're experienced in thoughtful practices or just starting, the author's clear style makes it easy to explore different ways of thinking. It's a valuable read for those wanting to improve how they approach decisions and ideas.
Titles I liked: 3- Consider the motive 21- Stress is optional 33- Believe in being organized 59- Don't panic 84- Regret is a waste of time 87- Don't be played for a fool 92- Facts are neutral 93- Don't trust statistics 95- If you can't prove it's true, that doesn't mean it isn't. 98- Be devil's advocate
It’s an interesting and easy read. I enjoyed exploring the rules and learning from the practical scenarios. Yet, I find them difficult to apply. Perhaps, one could try and remind themselves from time to time of this guidance.
This book is good. It's like you get 100 useful practical tips on how to think effectively & efficiently. But that's it. In terms of language I don't really like it, it's somewhat patronizing IMO.
Good overview on the style of thinking. A good short and bite-size concept addressed in each chapter with simple examples. Well crafted book with cross reference between various rules throughout the book.
A good read that has a straight forward structure and a brief outline on thinking strategies. Not the best or worst book on thinking but not deep enough to make you think and not light enough to breeze through.
