Broken. Damaged. Fractured into a thousand tiny pieces.
I’d promised to make it all better. To heal the blows she’d been dealt. But she wasn’t the only one living in a nightmare.
I’d tried to forget about my past as a marine, but it echoed in the edges of my mind, chipping away at my sanity. The violent memories haunted me. But now so did she.
I’d let my anger take over. I thought I’d gone too far and destroyed everything. But she was still there. Waiting for me. Waiting for us.
Our pain threatened to eradicate everything around us. A roaring flame no one could extinguish.
But it was nothing compared to the fire in our souls. The deepest love always burned the hottest. And ours was set to ignite an inferno.
Deep Burn is book two in the Burned Duet. A two-part, emotionally gripping story of forbidden angst filled love.

This series! I’m so sad it’s over! I absolutely LOVED how each duet deals with a different person in the Easton family, but spans over decades. In this book, Brody is in his seventies (SEVENTIES!) and he still looks at Lola like she hangs the moon. Be still my heart! Such a good series. Anyway, on to reviewing this specific book… This book, which left me reeling with the cliffhanger (this time in a good way LOL), and it deals with the aftermath of that twist. Asher is such a wonderful hero, and this book cemented my belief that he and Elodie are perfect for each other. They're both dealing with trauma, but as long as they’re together they’ll pull through. 5+ stars!
Abigail really knows how to write emotional stories so eloquently. Book 2 picks up where we left off and it gutted me. Elodie has a rough life and had been abused her whole life. She needed an Easton man. Asher is patient, kind and a gentleman and so tender and loving, just what Elodie needed.
Elodie wasn’t really broken, she had fight but tragedy after tragedy just takes a toll on you. As goes the formula of her duets, the love shines and the ability to see past all the abuse and emotional torture is the struggle they will have to overcome. So much pain and suffering between the two of them. But in all seriousness, raise you hand if you wanted to pop Asher up side his head? Look, I get why you can make a man who comes from a full fledge law enforcement family look really stupid when it comes to simple common sense but jeez did he really have to come off so stupid to try to be the hero?
This book had its ups and downs. The first half connected me with the characters but the second half was a drag and more meant to complete the story and I got bored and lost interest as it was predictable. Eloise’s post rape trauma was handled sensitively but I was also expecting more depth and to drill deeper into Asher. I liked the story and characters well enough but the execution was flat and this was my least favorite of the duets.
This is the conclusion to Elodie and Asher's story. I knew this one was going to hurt, after Ms. Davies left us with a huge cliffhanger in books one. It wasn't just that we were left hanging or shocked by what happened. It was more about the emotions that she left us with. But that's what makes Abigail Davies the writer that she is. Because when you read her book, you don't just read the words on the page, you feel them. she has the way of making you feel the emotions of her characters in every way. And when it came to Elodie and Asher's story, it was no different.
Elodie is so broke from her last, the way she grew up, and most recently her ex boyfriend and the abuse that he has out her through. Asher is broken in his own way as well, having nightmares and horrific memories from when he fought overseas. But for Asher, regardless of his own issues his main priority is being their for Elodie. And if that means putting aside his own hurt and pain then he will.
Elodie has been through hell and back and is now trying to heal and move on. But no one can understand what she is going through, what she is feeling, unless they have been in her shoes. She is a very strong woman who is both hurt and in pain from what happened but also angry for what Knox took from her. Her mixture of emotions was felt by me throughout the entire book. I was angry for her but I also hurt for her. I wanted to see her come out of this entire situation a stronger person and with her head held high. Honestly Asher was the most amazing and patient person that could have been by her side. He wanted nothing more to protect her, love her and be there for her in any way that he could. He was so patient with her and her needs. I knew that the love between the two of them was strong enough to them through this all.
Elodie and Asher's story was one that deals with a very delicate subject, one that will make you emotional and make you feel. But Abigail Davies did what she does best. She handled it in the perfect way, just enough to make you feel so deeply what they are going through but, at the same it wasn't too much. This was an emotional art two for these two characters but one then will end with your heart full.
I am sad to see this series end. I loved every member of the Easton family. I loved that even in Elodie and Asher's story we get to see so much of Brody and Lola and how so quickly they took Elodie in as one of them. They are all truly amazing people that I loved and felt like I was a part of their family. I know this series is over but I am really hoping for a spinoff with Jax and Al. Another fantastic job by Abigail Davies.
Yet another fantastic book by the talented Abigail Davies!! I always knew that this book would be the hardest to read after the way that book 1 ended on that soul crushing cliff hanger but nothing could prepare me for the heart ache this story would give me. Asher and Elodie are just beyond perfect for each other and I love how strong they are on their own but when they come together its even better. Both super strong individuals trying to overcome what life has put them through they both deserve the very best and that instant chemistry that flows through them is like fireworks. I have loved each and every story for this series and I am beyond gutted that it's now all over but I can honestly say it's a series that will be on my re read list alot as those Easton Men will never be far from my thoughts ;-) Each story has been such a journey of angst emotion and about the finding of true love no matter what the circumstances or backgrounds are. Abigial you are a writing genius lady!!
I knew it would be a rough start to the book with how the first one ended but.... damn, that hurt. It was absolutely gut wrenching reading the first few chapters.
Like the rest of the series, there were highs, lows, drama, angst and oh so much love. Abigail has created such an amazing group of characters- you find yourself wishing they were your family. They take loyalty and family to a whole new level.
Elodie and Asher. I don't even know where to begin explaining them... they are just so perfect for each other. The connection from the first book is even more intense this time around. That's all I'm going to say because I don't want to give any spoilers.
I'm so sad this series has finished! I've loved every single story of it. I'm really hoping there will be a novella for Leo- all the other Eastons have a story, so he needs one too!
Asher and Elodie have endured so much to be together and now they must face the biggest battle of their lives. After what happened to Elodie her way of trying to deal with the pain is avoidance however doing that will only make the situation that Asher faces that much more dire.
Asher regrets that emotions made unable to control his actions but the only part of the outcome he regrets is the separation from Elodie when she needs him the most. He knows that the best way for her to heal is for him to be by her side and there is no sacrifice too large for the woman he loves.
This is a heartbreaking and inspiring story about love, family and healing. The strength and resilience that both Asher and Elodie show just illustrates how much they belong together.
I started reading this book as soon as I had finished reading the first book! The first book left the female character's story at such a devastating place that I knew that this book was going to be an emotional read! After reading this book, I can say that this book was a pleasant surprise because it was slightly different to what I was expecting, but I felt like the author did a great job with the aftermath of what the main female character had been through! The plot also only took me a few sittings to read because it was quite a quick read! There was romance in the plot and it was the main focus! I loved it and that it allowed for a few seriously hot scenes! There was a bit of action and suspense as well, which added to the plot and made me want to keep reading on! The characters were again amazing and made this book even better! Elodie was again the main female character, and at the end of the last book she was in a horrible and violating situation that I knew she was going to have difficulty coming to terms with! Elodie did struggle , which was completely understandable, but she also came a long way and this was because of the people surrounding her! She was so loved and had people with her every step of the way! Asher was the main male character and love interest of Elodie! I felt like Asher did what he had to do in this book and he went through a lot of emotion and he struggled as well because of what Elodie went through! Asher tried his best to be there for Elodie and I loved that he didn't give up on her and encouraged her! Asher also went through a lot in this book and he was actually in danger of being away from Elodie for years! I loved that this book was written from both Elodie and Asher's point of views! I was obviously expecting it to be because the first book was written from dual point of view! The synopsis gives the impression that it's only going to be written from the male character's point of view, but the synopsis for the first book gave the impression that it was only going to be written from the female character's point of view! I loved that it was written from dual point of view because it helped me connect more with Elodie and Asher and see how they were feeling and dealing with everything! It allowed for more things to happen in the plot as well, which helped as they did spend some time apart! I'm really sad that this book is the final book in this duet and the Easton Family Saga! I loved reading all the different couples stories and I'm really sad that the series is over! I really hope that the author releases another series like this one because I loved this one and would enjoy reading another one! I've also read quite a few of this author's other books so I can't wait to see what she's going to release next and check out her books I haven't read yet! The cover for this book is also absolutely stunning! I love how well it suits the cover for the first book and that it has the same cover models on it because they're the perfect Elodie and Asher!
Let me start off by saying that I am sad to see that this is the last book in this saga that is the Easton family. There is just one this that I do know and that is there is life before The Easton's and then there is life after The Easton's. And now I'm having to go thru my life knowing that there won't be another book in this saga and I will have to just do another re-read of all the emotional wrecking books.
Now lets get to the pain that is reviewing the last of the Easton books without any spoilers. (And I say this only because now I have to live a life knowing that Davies will not be giving me anymore of this family.)
The first part of Elodie and Asher's story was one that left us on a cliff hanger that shredded the hearts of all the readers. I was wanting to hold Elodie so much that let her know that she was a strong person and that she was going to make it thru to the other side of this. Asher is the one guy that is there for her no matter what, he is that knight in shining armor that she didn't think she would ever have. Asher was the other half to Elodie, they both are just existing in life and they both need each other to heal what can be healed.
This book was everything and more than I could of ever thought. Hell that could be said about this entire saga. I had everything that I could of ever asked Davies to put into an Easton story: 1. age gap 2. strong alpha male 3. strong female character 4. family 5. angst to the 10th degree 6. a male character that you just want to grab and hold onto 7. a story that will stay with well after the final page 8. swoon worthy male characters 9. a female character that you can't help but love and 10. throw your kindle level angst
This saga was a journey with many different parts to it, and each part has different issues of its own that a reader can connect to. I was one of those readers that connected to each and everyone of theses characters and let them speak to me. Davies was able to create these characters and their stories so that they were ones that will stay with you long after you finish reading. Yes I am sorry to say that this this the end of this journey with this family, but I am so glad that I took it. Davies was a new to me author in the beginning of this and now I am glad to say to say that I have found a new go to author.
~Thoughts~ I just want to say this story is just amazing some of the plot twists I didn't see coming. While there are strong themes it's those themes that make the couple stronger because of it. This series is not for the faint of heart. This story has themes such as abusive relationships, rape, neglectful parents and shows the strength to move on with her life even with the difficulties that surround her circumstances. ~Story~ This story starts right after the events at the ending of the first book. While it's a dark scene, warning to people that I did not see it coming but at the same time it does shock the reader into reading more. While it was one of those moments with the emotional impact as well as the shock of what is going to happen next it's the process that really gets to you as a reader. I love how she faces her issues scared but at the same time strong and wanting to move on because she doesn't want to play the victim she is a survivor. While she is confronting her dilemma, Asher wants to protect her but she doesn't need his protection she needs him to be with her in her time of need. While Asher now has to face his trauma he shares it with Elodie and confronts his reality. ~P.S.~ I did not expect so much emotion to be pulled out of me when reading this book. I love a good story as much as the next person, but this story isn't that this is a phenomenal extraordinary emotional experience it's a voyage that I did not see coming. THIS IS NOT A TEEN DRAMA, NO CW. The plot twist blend so well with the story that it's not unexpected but more holly molly did not see that coming.
Well didn't you go and just shatter my poor 'lil heart!!!!....
I have to say, Abigail has a way with words! You don't just read her story, you feel her words and these ones were pure superb!
This is book 2 which follows straight on from the gut-wrenching ending of book 1, my word talk about tears!... (This deals with a very sensitive and traumatic and emotional subject so you may want to keep that in mind if you have any triggers, Abigail has wrote it beautifully and has most definitely done it justice, but still...it's deep!)... Asher and Elodie are the perfect match, he's a typical Easton when it comes to the ones he love - he will protect them with everything he has and it's amazing to read. Elodie? Man, that girl will break you! She has had so much thrown at her and still she soldiers on, a beautiful person both inside and out.
I'm going to leave my review here because I'm not going to give anything away regarding what happens! I will say that I thoroughly enjoyed this book, this duet and the entire Easton saga! So sad that it's come to an end but I'm hoping the author will keep us up to date on them...a few wee novellas here and there? Xmas special? Big events etc? Just a suggestion 😘😘😘
An excellent story that I absolutely adored!
*I voluntarily received an arc from the author and this is my honest review.
This book hurt. I knew it would after the way the first part of the duet ended, but I was completely gutted. Sexual assault is a subject matter I hold dear to my heart: I've had my own experience with it, so reading this fueled everything that I felt. I'm such a huge advocate for believing women and men who are assaulted regardless of the circumstance, and this book did that justice.
I felt exactly what Elodie felt, how she tried to block it out of her mind even when the dark thoughts kept creeping in. Her ranging emotions of blaming herself to finally accepting that no matter what, it was her rapist that was in the wrong. (Because nothing, and I mean nothing causes rape, except the rapist.) I felt all the anger and anguish Asher felt for wanting and destroy the very person who hurt the woman he loves more than anything, the great lengths he went to protect Elodie, even if it meant sentencing himself to prison.. This was just a painful, beautiful, real read. I encourage everyone to read this duet.
I'm so sad thay our time with the Easton family is over, but I am just in awe of the talent this author possesses. She's definitely someone to look out for!!
My only complaint was that I felt this book was too short, but that in no way takes away from the beauty if this story. Please go one click now!
**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions!**
Once again Davies does not fail to deliver. What a beautiful, emotional part 2 for Asher and Elodie's story. A great story is one that take you on a great emotional ride and Deep Burn did just that. I felt every bit of Elodie's pain and her struggle to overcome the horrific thing that had been done to her. She is truly an amazing heroine.
One of the main issues I have with age-gap romance novels is the ability to see the young woman's so-called maturity for her young age. Davies's writing of Elodie made me truly believe that Elodie was a mature 18 year old. Davies didnt just take the easy way and tell me she was mature, she showed me with Elodie's action and the strong decisions she made. It made me become completely invested in the story and so much more than just an age-gap romance. While one might consider Asher to be the hero of the story I really felt like Elodie was her own hero.
That being said, I loved Asher as well. His own struggles and the helplessness he felt when it came to being the one to protect Elodie broke my heart. His love for her and need to do anything to make her feel whole again was one of the best parts. I still cant believe he was once that innocent little boy in Cade and Aria story. He certainly did not have an easy path on his way to his true love.
Definitely a great read and a must read! The perfect ending for the Easton family!
What a beautiful ending to this Series. I’m so sad that this is over but more importantly I’m so happy with Deep Burn. We all know that Abigail left us with our hearts torn out with Fast Burn. But she puts our hearts back together. In such a emotional way that you can’t put the book down. I literally never left my bed, once this book was downloaded on my kindle.
Asher and Elodie’s story is about two soulmates who fight to get to their happily ever after. They were so fresh and then all hell broke loose. These two have to get stronger together. These two have such a beautiful bond that all you can do is cheer them on. And the Easton Family will be forever a favorite. They know what family is and they are there for each other like no other. And together these two slay all the dragons. Together.
Heartbreaking, Heartwarming and ohhhh so good.
I would highly recommend this book to any romance reader. I would recommend starting from the beginning of the series. It will wrap around your heart like mine.
*I was given a free advanced copy of this book by the author in exchange for my honest and voluntary review.*
This author has a talent for writing women so live through some of the worst life has to offer, yet they survive and find a way to keep moving forward. Elodie is one such woman. She’s got to find herself, her strength, and her confidence after a brutal attack, and she’s got Asher and his family at her back to prop her up when needed. She and Asher draw in each other for strength and make it through.
Don’t get me wrong. There were times when I wanted to slap Asher for his misguided honor, but his family and Elodie were strong enough to work around him to find the right sort of justice for his “crime”. But to have a love like the men and women of this series find makes up for his brush with stupidity. He just needed a good slap upside the head, physically or emotionally, to understand just how strong and capable Elodie is...and for him to realize that protecting someone doesn’t mean making all of the decisions and sacrifices for them.
I’m going to miss this series, but I’m excited to see what else comes our way from this author. As for Asher and Elodie, they were the perfect end to this saga and rounded out this family perfectly.
Such a bitter sweet moment! Sweet is the strong ending to this Duet, and bitter that this is the ending to the Easton Family Saga.
Elodie and Asher are such strong characters that faced so much torment and pain, it was impossible not to connect with them. I loved that this 2nd half of the Duet focused on not only Elodie's pain and healing but also Asher's. I thought they were perfect for each other.
A very strong ending to the Easton Family Saga.
Now that it's all over, there are a few things I wish Abigail would have addressed or given a glimpse into:
1. Why did Aria and Cade not marry, it's made apparent they're still GF/BF after so many years and there was no indication that they had any children, I wish we got to see a bit more with them.
2. Where were Jord, Kyle and Ryan? There was not mention on where they'd gone.
3. Where were Jan and Sal now?
Just little things like, i'm wondering but here's hoping a Novella of some sort comes out to give us an update on the whole gang.
Really sad this Saga is now finished but I'm just ecstatic that I came across this and was able to join in on each of the Lover's Duets.
3.5 stars Deep Burn by Abigail Davies is the conclusion to Asher and Elodie's story, which started with Fast Burn. This picks up right where book 1 left off, and I don't want to spoil anything so I won't say much. Deep Burn was mostly about Asher and Elodie healing and moving forward in life from their pasts. It centered on Elodie coping and healing and Asher being there for her and doing everything he could to try and protect her. I just thought it was so slow and while I really liked how Davies handled the delicate situation and showed Elodie's journey, it was so slow for a book that is categorized as a forbidden and angsty romance. I almost would've preferred to be reading a memoir about this topic. The writing was fine and the connection between the characters was great. They were both supportive of each other. Asher was really frustrating and should've communicated more with Elodie. Overall, this was a nice conclusion to their story, but dragged on too much for me and I just couldn't get that into the novel. 3.5 stars
WOW! What an emotional, gripping, tear-jerker of a read.
Not only for the storyline or the connections between the characters, but also due to the fact this is the last book in the Easton Family Saga.
Picking up right from the cliffhanger ending of Fast Burn. The heartbreaking and uncertain time that Asher and Elodie are both facing. Soulmates that need to find their way back to each other, at the same time as trying to heal and put the past behind them. The rest of the Easton clan there to support them if and when they need it. Abigail Davies has hit a home run with Deep Burn. A perfect way to end this duet and this whole series.
******* These Easton's and there stories certainly won't be forgotten anytime soon. Their loyalty to one another, the support they show, the love they share, the family dynamic and banter between them are all things that will stay with me. Thank you Abigail Davies for writing such amazing characters, for the heartbreaking storylines, for the teary eyes and all the tissues used. For the hours I spent captivated by your words. I look forward to more.
No No No No No dang it! Okay okay, yeah she did it again. This author has a way of digging deep into your heart and just ripping it to shreds. The pain and anguish, the healing, the recovery. They realize it isn't just her that needs to heal, hell his demons from his time in service are now aggravated with visions of her. He's willing to sacrifice himself to keep her safe and save her from having to relive things over and over. She's found the family and support she never knew she could have. These two have now joined the ranks of those that came before them. I wasn't real keen on this series but because I absolutely adore this author I gave it a try. I mean old horny men going for the young innocent virgin ins't really my type of read, oh but these are so much more. This is the last book in the series and the author teases that she may revisit the family for an update later. I love when the author gives us a chance to say hello to old friends while introducing more. I absolutely loved it.
Bonded Duet (Age gap/Forbidden Angst) Book 1: Torn Bond/Book 2: Tied Bond
Burned Duet (Age Gap/Emotional Angst Book 1: Fast Burn/Book 2: Deep Burn
My favorite couple was - Brody&Lola from the first duet. I will never forget them. This family saga was so good and so precious to me. They are all age-gap romance book and if you love this trope you need to read this. This last one - Elodie&Asher - story about the abusive relationship our main protagonist is involved with and our former MMA fighter Asher, ex-marine, tattoo owner - and very passionate and devoted guy who gave all his heart to Elodie.
"She sealed the deal with a kiss, a kiss I would never take for granted ever again."
Loved every book in this series and so sad Deep Burn is the final book, but what a great ending to this gripping series.
Asher and Elodie’s story is heart-breaking in parts, loyalty to each other may be their downfall but with a family like the Easton's behind you the fall will be blocked!
Deep Burn will make you cry, scream and finally smile - the journey is not an easy one but the reward is worth every moment of pain.
Highly recommended series for lovers of romance with emotional gripping storylines.
I was late to the Easton Family Saga books and if they are all like this duet I know I will love them all. I can’t wait to go back and read the characters I have gotten to know in Fast Burn and Deep Burn. Deep Burn picks up where Fast Burn left off and it was a really tough situation to read. Abigail wrote it with care. Asher and Elodie find such strength in each other. Deep Burn has their relationship growing though odds are against them. I enjoyed the realness and hope that’s infused in their story! I was totally invested in them.
Deep Burn (Burned Duet #2) is a brilliant and superbly written love story that’s heartbreakingly tragic, raw, and emotional. Asher and Elodie are great characters, especially Elodie whose strength is inspiring. As with all the previous duets in the fantastic Easton Family Saga series, this had me hooked from page one and I couldn’t have put it down if I’d wanted to; which I didn’t! I’m sad this amazing series is finished. I love this family so much and hope (fingers crossed) we get to catch up with them in the future. I highly recommend it!
Well I can't say it enough, but I absolutely love this author. Abigail knocked this book out the park. This was her best yet. Deep durn keeps you at the edge of your seat and you're left wanting more. Asher and elodie are great together. Age is just an number. They go though a lot to stay together. This book will have you crying, emotional roller-coaster ride. Wow what a great end to this duet
This duet was one of the most heartbreaking, devestating and painful books I’ve read this year. It really is a testament to this author and how she choses to write difficult things and not shy away from the ugly parts and really take you through the characters pain. I just dont have words, and this duet will stick with me.
Mega trigger warning for (detailed, first person in the moment depiction of) rape
Continuing on from Fast Burn and what a ending to this fabulous series. In Deep Burn Asher and Elodie’s story is emotional and raw. I love these two , his need to protect her melts your heart. I really didnt’t want their story to end because it means the end to the whole series and what a series it is. I have loved every minute of it and I highly recommend this book and the whole series.
Deep Burn is emotional, gritty, and heartbreaking with its awareness raising and timely subject matter. Asher and Elodie are an awe inspiring and beautiful dynamic together. Five stars for this bittersweet and well written wrap up of the Easton Family Saga⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐!!
Deep Burn is the last book of the Easton Family saga and what a amazing way to end it.It was a beautiful and emotional story of two soulmates not only trying to heal themselves but each other. Loved every single word of this duet and sad too see it come to an end.
