War has torn the world of Delos apart for centuries. Emperor Octavius is bent on destroying everything around him, including his own people.
An assassin, Evorix Vispanius is recruited by the Rebellium, a group of soldiers bent on destroying the empire. The only problem with their assassin is, he doesn't want any part of their plan.
But the emperor isn't the only threat to Delos. The Ba, a lion race who were nearly destroyed are hiding in the Fire Lands waiting for the day that they can overrun the empire once again.
Delos is a hotbed of chaos, death, and destruction. The fate of the world lies in the hands of an assassin who has nothing to gain and everything to lose.
As of today, September 8th, 2019, this book is newly published. So, I can sympathize with overlooked writing errors. With that said, there are many. If this is a deal breaker for you, I suggest you check back later.
Now to the storyline:
It is a gratuitously bloody and straightforward read. If you enjoy death by the thousands, severed heads, hands, arms, legs etc… this book is for you. There is no shortage of characters doing their damndest to stay alive and on top.
I struggled with the book’s continuity. An arrow that instantly killed one person could be snatched out of the air by another, or extracted out of the neck of a key character without much fanfare. The rate of survival was dependent on whether that character needed to stay alive for plot advancement.
This can be fine. Don’t overanalyze. Just sit back and watch the heads roll.
