Ask and Answer

Rate this book
All is calm in the city of Salem’s Gate, Pennsylvania…until a vicious murder spree incites fury in the supernatural community.

A month after Advent 9’s explosive exit from Salem’s Gate, Kat King is finally settling into some semblance of normal, and Liam Crown some semblance of sobriety.

But when a seemingly simple missing persons case abruptly morphs into a murder spree targeting the city’s shifter community, Kat and Liam find themselves trying to untangle the threads of a criminal conspiracy whose origins stretch all the way back to the tumultuous decade that followed the Unveiling.

Accompanied by allies new and old, the duo enter a race against time to solve the case and stop the murders, before the rising tension in the shifter community reaches a boiling point. A point that may spur the second coming of the deadly clashes between mundanes and supernaturals that defined one of the most difficult periods in the history of the world.

Ask and Answer is the second book in the action-packed King and Crown urban fantasy series.

I’ve been a fan of this author for quite a while as I love the way she writes urban fantasy, my favorite genre. Not only is she a great writer, she is able to sneak in little tidbits that you don’t know are tidbits in later books. That was the case with this one. Kat is still hiding from A9, and Liam gets involved in some werewolf murders in his PI business with Kat helping him. What follows is a wild ride of great action, interesting plot, and new characters. I am so excited at the new elements and the reveal of a hint of a secret in this story that I don’t think I can wait for the next book. Give this a try; it’s well-worth it! Highly recommend! I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

I received an ARC edition of this book from the author.

You really need to previous book (Lock and Key) before you read this book.

Kat and Liam are starting to settle into what passes for a normal life for them when a new case brings more trouble than they were expecting. We got a bit more to add to the world-building in this story, more of a focus on some of the shifter side of the sups. We also got a few more hints about the Circle, the sort of magic council, though there are still plenty of questions there.

There are some new characters introduced in this story, and it will be interesting to see how they play a part in the larger story arc. Kat is starting to get a better handle on her magic, but she clearly still has a ways to go. Both Liam and Kat have their successes and their failures, but I think they work well together. There were a few more hints at the deeper plot that is evolving in this series, but there are still a lot of threads that have yet to come together and form the whole picture.

I love Kat and Liam, flawed but trying, they are such great characters. This second installment in the Kind and Crown series is a highly enjoyable continuation of their adventures and a great addition to the urban fantasy genre, I can't wait to read more of Kat and Liam's exciting world.

Enjoyed this

I saw the promise in the first book but this is superb. Much more development of both main and supplementary characters. The plot focsses on a subsidiary of the shady A9. I just wish the next book was available to pre-order as this is a series I don't want to lose track of.

My god, book two in the series and I didn’t think it could be any better than the last one, but I was wrong! If I was to create a book myself containing all the things I like in urban fantasy this book would be it and then some. It’s bloody brilliant. Very highly recommended must read.

Loved it

Loved this follow up book. Was hoping to get a little romance between Liam and Kat, but maybe the next book. Lots of action, great dialogue, and the expanding list of supporting characters is fantastic. A good read.

This crime fighting duo is a pair of wounded warriors- yet when they work together they play off each other’s strengths and weaknesses

Simple murder investigation turns into a hunt for those hunting them

Action packed psychological thriller and adventure!

Again...

Again, Clara Coulson, has produced a winner. A well developed plot and host of characters. The story is a good continuation of the series. Best wishes for the future.
