What is the greatest adventure in our lives? From my earliest days I dreamed of going on great adventures. Climbing mountains or sailing the seas, even going to the moon! I've been writing for a long time. Though, only since 2015 have I been able to organize and focus myself to actually produce books. Most of my work is quite simple, but I don't mind. Maybe someday I'll attempt a more ambitious project, but for now, I'm quite content where I am. I hope you enjoy.
Thrill-Seekers by Gentleman Jim is a short and sweet children’s book about a set of parents receiving a visit from their friends. Their friends tell them all about the wild and exhilarating adventures they had been on such as skydiving. The set of parents’ two children are also present and listen to the whole story. Later, they admit that they feel responsible for their parents not being able to go on any adventures of their own but are quickly reassured that this is not the case. In fact, the parents discuss and realize that they have no regrets as having their children has been the biggest adventure of all. I think this is a great book for parents and their young children to read together especially during bedtime. The illustrations were vibrant and colourful, successfully captivating readers and fulfilling their role. In my opinion, there was a part where the seating arrangements between the parents and their set of friends randomly changed with no apparent reason that was a little confusing. Next, although the book is aimed at children, I found the moral at the ending less suitable and relatable to children. The characters and the dialogue were quite realistic and well-written. Overall, I found this story interesting with a valuable lesson and enjoyed reading it immensely.
Different people make different choices in life, and what may be thrilling and important to one may not be for someone else. In this story, a couple comes to visit a family and tells them all about their recent travels and adventures. The family is impressed, but the kids feel a little guilty that their parents aren't able to go on these adventures because they have to stay home with them. The parents lovingly tell them that THEY are their adventure and provide them with the most important and best thrills! Sweet story stressing the joy of family.
This was a lovely surprising read. I was interested in the book from the title but as I read it, I discovered that all the 'thrills' in life doesn't compare to the thrill of being a parent and part of a warm and loving family. All the adventures we seek to go on are all temporary thrills and can never fully satisfy us like the love of a family.
