His fellow SEALs have lost their hearts one by one while murder gets in the way of the promise of finding his own true love. Swede is on the lookout for his perfect mate, but if it'll happen is secondary to when considering that he's deep in the wilds of Mexico hunting a rebel training camp. When a group of civilians wanders into the middle of his operation, Swede is stunned to learn a woman he long ago decided was completely wrong for him is in the very place his team is setting up an extremely dangerous mission.
Eva loves animals, especially those in need. When a friend requests her help transferring a herd of horses from Mexico to new homes, she jumps at the opportunity…and lands herself in trouble. Swede is an old "frenemy" and he's determined to extricate her to safety before the rebels show up. Even as he works to shelter her, she struggles to protect her heart from him a second time. The rebels have plans of their own--one that isn't likely to involve a happily-ever-after in Swede and Eva's futures.

So what happens when Eva's volunteer mission in Mexico to help rescue abused horses coincides with her brother, Hawk's, SEAL team mission there? A plausible, yet one Eva is going to completely hate, cover story is made which enlists Swede to play cozy with Eva. Now if only Eva didn't get disgusted by him due to his very free loving *you get what I mean there?* ways.
Swede, seeing the genuine love and respect that three of his friends and teammates have found, is wondering if he'll ever find that. The thing is, as he and Eva are playing out their parts for safety reasons, Swede is, almost from the beginning, not feeling like he's acting. Everything feels right with Eva and that worries him because of the man code regarding sisters. However, they're both starting to realize that this attraction, this outright need, has always been there. They've just both fought it and pushed it aside for different reasons.
But maybe, just maybe, Swede realized that his lifestyle isn't all that great and wouldn't Eva be shocked to know that he hasn't been living the same way for a while? And maybe the last time she saw him things weren't actually as they appeared to be? (Which yeah, phew, big relief to me as a reader.) Hmm...what does this change mean for Eva?
Will the horses get rescued and sent to their new homes? Will the women be safe from the plans the rebels have for them? Will Swede and Eva finally admit, though neither were ready until now, what's always been there between them? Will they get their HEA? Will the team complete their mission?
One-click now and find out. This is a good story and it was nice revisiting the team and seeing Swede and Eva finally admitting they were meant to be together. I do recommend reading this series in order for the sake of continuity and full enjoyment of the characters as previous ones are continually mentioned in each subsequent story.
On a personal note, as has been the case with the previous three books in this series, though some not as bad as others, I'd prefer not to read about the references to Swede's abundant sexual history, although I will admit, all things considered, his past wasn't mentioned as much as I thought it would be. This fact made me happy as well as a revelation of Swede's fairly recent change in behavior and how long ago that change actually occurred and why. *Yeah, I did a little mental fist pumping over that. LOL* I know it doesn't bother everyone else like it does me, but I did want to mention it just in case you are one of the ones that agree with me. So please just keep in mind, the sexual history of all the SEAL men are referred to throughout each book. Thankfully, it's not referred to as much as I've seen before in other works.
**I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.**
Swede is a very large man, all muscle and badassery. He can be very intimidating to those who don’t know him which works very well in his line of work.
Eva is the sister of one of Swede’s Seal Team brothers, Hawk, and is also the best friend of Hawk’s sister, Mia. She loves animals and adopts as many as she can that are in need of a good, home along with medical care and rehabilitation when needed.
Although Swede is tough on the outside, he is also a very sexy man. Eva isn’t intimidated at all by his attitude or his size. Sparks fly when they are all in Mexico and Swede needs to infiltrate the horse rescue operation to keep Eva safe and try to discover the details and location of a terrorist training camp.
I love how Eva tries to ignore Swede’s attempts to woo her as he pretends to be her fiancé to stay close to her. The line between pretend and reality is very thin as they get caught up in each other. Eva has always been attracted to Swede but didn’t approve of his loose lifestyle. Swede has always been attracted to Eva but with her being the sister of his buddy, she was automatically off limits, so he reconciled himself to never being able to have her.
This story has charm and hotness mixed with danger and murder. Several twists and turns keep you wondering just what is going to happen along with the growing attraction between Swede and Eva. I enjoyed the easy camaraderie with Swede and his teammates and how they work as a well developed team and communicate effectively between each other. The rescue efforts are a heartwarming part of the story and the dedication of the people who care for these animals and what they do to help them. I had to read the entire story before I could do anything else. It is that good. I loved it.
This is another amazing addition to the SEALs of Honor series with Swede finally admitting the love of his life is Hawke's sister Eva. He had not been with another woman since he decided eighteen months ago that no one compared to her and he wanted to see if she felt the same way.. They were on a mission in Mexico and coincidentally she was at there helping to rescue some wild horses that they were sending state side with her friend April helping also. The SEALs were there to take down a rebel camp that was right behind the ranch that Eva was staying. She recognized Swede and Shadow who were staking out the ranch because they had heard the rebels were going to kidnap some white women which turned out to be April and Eva that they were eyeing up. Now Swede had to pretend to be her finance that was surprising her so that he could protect them. This was a non stop action packed love story as the SEALs ended up taking out the rebels after the horses were shipped off. The rebels kept trying to grab Eva and she kept escaping as Hawke, Swede, Shadow with the rest of the SEALs kept saving her. In the end Eva and Swede admitted their love for each other and another SEAL found his true love. This was a fantastic story and I cannot wait to read the next release.
Swede follows in the footsteps of his SEAL brothers in this suspenseful military romance. When the team is sent into Mexico to deal with a new rebel group, he is horrified to find that his team mate Hawk's sister is in the vicinity on a horse rescue mission. It soon becomes apparent that the ranch where Eva is staying is in a danger zone and Swede goes in, posing as her estranged fiancé. The attraction between Swede and Eva is intense but there is a history holding her back from indulging in her fantasies about him, and Swede is dealing with the code of honour between brothers not to get involved with Hawk's sister. As the situation hots up and Eva is kidnapped, Swede has a hard time holding back and it soon becomes apparent to all concerned that Eva is the one for him. All of the books in the series are exciting and as each SEAL's personality comes out it feels like one becomes part of the family. I read this book as part of the SEALs of Honor: Books 4-6 boxset and this is my honest and voluntary review.
There can't be anything more disconcerting to a SEAL team doing recon, than to be spotted by a civilian who shouldn't be able to see them at all.
Swede and Shadow were checking out the outer perimeter of a terrorist training camp in Mexico, when they were surrounded by horses. These horses were rescues being rounded up by a group to transport them to new homes in the US. I probably shouldn't have been as amused as I was but dang it was funny.
What was even more amusing to me was when the guys were all together and Swede and Shadow finally realize who it was that saw them. Hawk's sister Eva, who should be home tending her own horses was here in Mexico with those civilians rounding up these horses.
A tense situation that just became very complicated. Swede gets sent in to play Eva's fiancé with whom she had fought before coming on this rescue trip. So in spite of the seriousness of the situation I found myself giggling more than a few times.
Plenty of suspense, some out loud laughs and sizzling heat as Swede and Eva realize they are meant to be together.
A surprise encounter has a sibling of the SEALs in the wrong place at the wrong time. But not only is Eva a sister, she is also a love interest to another SEAL on the team.
This story moves quickly, but clearly sets up the storyline of the rebel army, those who betray the rescue and women, and shows how these SEALs work together. I enjoyed the back story and conversations between Swede and Eva as it was humorous and insightful to their dynamic and history. Hawk is awesome and I loved how he was as a big brother. Mia is mentioned, but none of the women from previous books show up in this story.
This is a fun series with some great alpha characters. Can’t wait for Shadows story as he has been a favorite!
I would have givenit 4 1/4 stars iif i could. You got to know the hero and heroine's bit in the other books in the series. I really wanted to know how they finally got together or would they? I know I would have been saying the same thing -what in the world were ou thinking to come to this part of the world no and like she did. It was like waving a flag in front of a bull.
The chemistry between the hero and heroine was good. However many of the situations and how they got out of them just wasn't believable. It wasn't was good as I was hoping, but I would still give it a go because you might like this type of story line.
WOW! Another great story. This one involved Hawk's sister, Eva and Swede. The beginning has its funny parts. I liked that Eva totally surprised Swede and Shadow in the beginning chapter. Put a smile on my face. Then when the guys figured out who it was, Swede went into action protecting Eva. The women just seem to get into more trouble once they were safe. So happy that Swede and Eva finally acted on their love for each other. I totally love what the guys ask when they know their brother is falling in love - are you going to keep her? I love Eva's response! I am happy these two found their happily ever after. FANTASTIC job Dale! I would recommend this book.
Swede is teammates with Eva's brother so she was always off limits. However that didn't stop Eva loving him from a far for a long time.
Eva gets into trouble when she volunteers to help rescue some horses in Mexico and from there it all goes sideways. Swede is determined to save her but first he needs to decide if he is keeping her and if so how will his brother in arms take it when he finds out that Swede is out to claim his sister.
It was faced paced with lots of action and a hot alpha SEAL mixed in with a smart and capable heroine who just can't seem to stay out of danger.
Swede and Shadow are hiding out. Some horses come riding by and then some riders to get them rounded up. One of the riders looks right at them and calls them by name. They are so shocked, they just pull back. It takes Swede a bit to realize it was Eva, Hawk:s sister. Eva is in Mexico to help relocate horses that need rescuing. If Swede and Shadow are there, so is her brother. Then he calls her. Swede is sent over to where Eva is so they can protect her and figure out what is going on. Now to solve this mission and explore their feelings.
When the Seals are sent to Mexico on a mission the last person they expect to run into is Ava Hawks sister. Ava is there helping to rescue wild horses. But soon she finds herself in need of rescuing instead. Swede is sent in for the job of pretending to be her fiance . Things heat up between the two. This is a great romance with a lot of Seals action too. I really enjoyed this story and look forward to more from Dale.
"She was Hawk’s sister and out of bounds". Geesh I hate that statement because she's only out of bounds if your only intent was a one night stand, not if your serious. Alpha Male needs to wake up.
Otherwise action and story was good except for the "stupid broad" attitude from Eva at start it was once again a great read and good addition to series.
Swede a love for a Seal’s sister a big no, the heart didn’t agree, did Eva feel the same, keeping it hidden also. The Seals were on a mission to stop a rebel training camp, taking the commander out, so they wouldn’t regroup. Finding she was also in Mexico and in the midst of this trouble. With her friend April to rescue horses and bring to the states. Good plot where nothing went as planned, and Swede trying to keep Eva quiet and safe.
Eva is in Mexico helping to get rescued horses transported to new homes where they will be cared for. Unknown to her a rebel camp is in walking distance of the hacienda that she is staying at. The rebels want to catch Eva, but Swede wont let this happen. Swede has never told Eva how he felt about her, but with danger Swede knows he must save the woman he loves.
Swede has wanted Hawks younger sister for a whole. He gets his chance when she needs their help. She is happy to finally have her shot with him. As she watched him with his parade of ladies. Will Hawk be okay with this? Will they save Swedes lady?
This author is new to me, but now I'm hooked and can't stop reading. Her characters are amazing, bigger than life and at times hilarious. They are the complete package if you're into alpha males, capable love interests, dangerous missions and mysteries and oh yeah, romance.
Another excellent story in the series, SEALs of Honor. Very satisfying, great ending. Hmm, I think I'll be getting the rest of the books - they're addicting! I'm off to find Shadow's story now... Highly recommended.
I read this book in a boxed set. An amazing series. The seals are crazy hot and alpha and the heroines are just plain badass. Loved Eva and Swede and their love story. Can't wait for the next instalment of Seals of Honor.
I loved this book! Big Mountain of a Man. He had no idea this little spit fire was in live with him. Until she caught him. The banter, the looks, and the harrowing story kept me going till the end. Thank you Dale. On to the next read.
I enjoy all books by Dale Mayer. This one involves the modern day problem of travelling in Mexico, as well as the western problem of horse rescue. Evolve the Navy Seals and you have intrigue mystery and susoense. I highly recommend this book.
This is another enjoyable book in this series with the familiar strong, loyal, caring characters. The story has suspense, action, and romance. Very good.
This my first read with this author. I love to read about seals. The story was engaging and exciting. It definitely had the elements of danger and romance.
Finally got to read the final books in the series. These Seals fell fast and sure but I don't understand why they only seemed to find women in deep deep trouble that needed rescuing....
Another good story. Love their happy ever after. Though this one was really hard fought. I can’t believe all she went through. It was getting ridiculous.
