Laney Parker is drawn out by someone howling in the night. Thinking the new neighboring pack is unaware of where the border is, she goes out to stop this rogue male before her brother returns home and problems arise. However, when she enters the woods and finds the source of the call is none other than her old flame, Cole Holbrook, she realizes things are far more complicated than she had originally anticipated. Despite the bitter rivalry between himself and Laney's pack leader brother, Cole has come back to claim her as his mate, and he's determined nothing will stand in his way. Not even her brother, Seth.
These Werekind are rather hit-and-miss, and this one is somewhere in the middle. I'm still "wobbly" on the rating, because it started rather PWP-ish, went straight into a full-on battler between two alpha wolves (over one's mate and the other's sister), and ended back in the slightly PWP-ish territory.
Still, the characters were pretty interesting. I just missed more of a story, especially an explanation as to what happened two years ago and to all the hatred the two alphas had for each other. It was just there.
The first in the Werekind series, Crossing Borders introduces Zane's world of fierce werewolf packs and bitter rivalries. Laney's brother, the alpha Seth, is away, and she is left home alone and watching the border of the pack's territory. When a lone wolf cries in the distance, Laney approaches the border to send the stranger away - but the wolf turns out to be her old flame Cole who had left two years ago.
What I genuinely like about Zane's books is that the heroes aren't assholes - I mean, they might do stupid things - we all do - but they do what it takes to get the girl, in a heartwarming way, in a way that touches your heart and makes you fall in love with them.
ok.. this was a short ebook that i read in a as little as 15 mins and that is 15 mins of my live ill never get back sad really i could spent that 15 mins haveing sex with the hubby...
didnt like the characters, no story to speak of, is was a storth ebook so maybe im just being picky. wot i did like was the fight sense that was at least a bit intesting..
i sure some of you will read it and love it but its not for me im not going to finish the series tho. if i did the first ebook might make more sense but i dont want the 15mins itll take to read it to be waisted wen i could be doing more intersting thing lol
Meh! This short story was nothing major, but it's hard to like it when you can't stand the characters: Laney is a wimp, Cole is an ass and Seth is a bigger ass.
To me the story was predictable and I found the characters a bit annoying. Overall just an ok to pass the time kind of story that I don't foresee continuing the series..
