I’m a woman who thought I had it all – the renaissance man, a career I’m passionate about and a loving home. But rumors have distanced me from the man who said he’d love me forever. He says they’re lies. My intuition tells me they’re not although my heart wants me to believe otherwise. I struggle in this regard because I’ve noticed the change in him. He’s not the same man who said ‘I do’ and therefore I’m leaning toward ‘I don’t’. In life, you can’t predict how anything will turn out. Love is that way, too – a mystery – and sometimes, the person you thought you’d spend forever with is not the person you married.

When the story began I was hoping that Micah was true to his word. Over time it seemed as though my wish wouldn't be granted. Indigo's fears about his behavior always appeared to be true. What man openly flirts in front of his beloved wife? If he truly loved her. During their marriage Indigo was a talented artist who received limited respect or support from her husband. Her main support came from her bestie KeShana. I loved her bestie, she was raw and in rare form. When Indigo met Romello, an art museum fella, I knew things were about to be real. Indigo and Micah were separated for one year, trying to see if they should stay together after some details he denied surfaced. His lack of support for her artistic expression, I knew would be an issue eventually. Along with another person who showed her how to be loved.
Tina is my one of my favorite authors. I’ve read her whole catalog through the years but I’m not sure where she was trying to go with story. So unlike her. I hate spoilers but I really saw this story going another way. I’m sure there is a message in there but I totally missed the mark perhaps. I’m still a HUGE FAN but this just wasn’t a five star for me. 🤷🏾♀️
Indigo & Romello's story was really good. I felt like Tyra Banks in that ANTM scene when she was yelling at the contestant named Tiffany..."We were all rooting for you Micah!" I was really hoping Micah wasn't Ruby's father. He was so adamant about not being a cheater he had me fooled. But boy was I shocked when those results came in. I liked how we got to see the downfall of Indy & Micah's marriage. I loved it when Indigo jumped across that table and put them paws on Micah. I know that reaction was out of character for Indigo but I felt the pure rage she had to be feeling in that moment. Micah just was a trashy dude. Which helped me to appreciate Romello even more. At first I was side-eyeing Romello because I wasn't sure about his intentions. However, my opinion changed when he really showed Indigo the proper way to be loved by a man. I liked how he took a genuine interest in her art. Also, Romello listened to Indigo and just made her life better. Romello was just an all around good guy. I also liked how his relationship with his mom. I was really shocked to find out that he was grieving and not once did he throw it in Indigo's face when she rejected him or needed a break. His patience was impeccable. KeShana was that ride or die ratchet friend that had Indigo's back! I loved it when she called Romello...Caramello. She had me cracking up! I enjoyed this story!

Liked Micah and was feeling sorry him. Even when club QC potential controversy came in the mix I still was torn. Torn bc I liked Mello too. But after the rant about my house and your lil pics you can’t get two nickels for, man I had to be offended on behalf of indigo. Wow even if he was pissed, which I think he had a right to be feeling blind sided, that was not the way to handle it. They say drunks tell to truths, sometimes anger is a truth serum as well. I now some people do things in anger they don’t mean and he probably did too but how can she trust his word or love; trust that the next time he gets angry he won’t come out of pocket again
OMG 😱 that ruby Travis outcome through me for a loop
Your what??? I like Kordell
Yes strangle his ass
I love Keshana. She keeps it real and cracks me up
Micah really lost his mind showing up to the exhibition and he had the nerves to not come alone
I really enjoyed the journey. I think the 180 of both indy’s mom and romello’s dad was rushed but it wasn’t the main focus so I guess it’s whatever. Would love to know if anything more happens with Jared and shana.
I. Felt. Every. Emotion...reading this book!!!!!! So many "I remember this feeling" moments! WOW!!! Awesome read! You will be exhausted emotionally but it is worth it! A failed relationship doesmt mean stop trying....it means learn how you need to be loved s d embrace it when it shows up. Being an artist doesnt mean you have to starve its a new decade that has was to monetize your gift, dont sell yourself short! Micah loved Indy, but he forgot how to express his love when he was trying to grow his company. Thus they dissolved to nothing. Mello is already success but has been without someone to love so he doesnt hesitate to give Indy that love and they way she processes it...with action! Love language is real, important, and it matters!!
A woman in need of loving finds just the man to finesse!
Sometimes I wonder if people are so in their head that they are not actually seeing the words on the paper but rewriting the events in their heads. I say this because the low ratings are in my opinion are quite far from painting an accurate comprehension of the events and worse yet become derogatory. Now I realize everyone has a right to their opinion, but tact, fairplay respect and consideration of others is paramount whether it be towards the author or fellow readers. If giving critique, please do so constructively and with empathetic veracity to the best of your ability. I found all of these characters endearing and compelling. Even Micah whose narcissist tunnel vision and ability to delude himself borders on the magical thinking of a child. He is so self focused,he cannot see beyond his career and nor identify his selfishness or the damage done to his marriage before its too late.He knows his behavior around the opposite sex is not fitting of a married man and he makes excuses at every turn for his behavior. He has even managed to delude himself about his fidelity. After the separation he has a come to Jesus realization of what he has in Indy and agrees to "friendship" in the year long separation period .He truly tries to do good by her, thinking he has plenty of time to win her back. Indie on the other hand ,is just biding her time. She identifies that he is trying and still has love for him therefore she has second thoughts.Until that is,she does a mental tally of all his sins throughout the marriage. Enter Romellow.Ladies prepare to swoon and enjoy the courting .Also prepare yourselves for some of the most beautiful poetic prose, especially in regards to lovemaking.Their relationship, though a bit fast tracked,is uplifting and beautiful. It may appear one sided initially ,but Indy deserved and needed to be put on a pedestal . I have no doubt that Indy has it in her to reciprocate in kind.Loved this and look forward to more from Ms Martin!
I wasn't going to read this story at first, but I said nah Tina usually has my back when it comes to love connections and happily ever afters. In the beginning when Micah and Indigo went on their usual date night, three things turned me off. One, they were separated and on date as friends, two it seemed as if there was one side to whatever this was between the two and three the rejection Indigo portrayed towards Micah made me cringe and hurt for him. I was like I don't know if I can deal with the rest of this heartbreaking situationship, but as I continued on I realize these two were not meant for each other. Hey we f**k up and pick the wrong loves sometimes, but we have to realize it's okay when we don't recognize or see the signs of a true love or not, but I'm elated that Indigo found someone who loves her unconditionally. Hoping the same for Micah because he deserves love too. It's just that he didn't know how to love Indigo. Great Read! ReneeG 👍
This was indeed an eye-opener for me. Marriage is more than saying you a love someone and want to build a future together. It takes alot of work, and doing it together!
Micah and Indigo's marriage took a hit and I was rooting for them. In their journey I identified with the right/wrong decisions they both made and understood the responses to those decisions.
Saying you love someone or even going out of your way to show them is never enough to sustain a marriage if you don't take the time to invest in your spouses whole being. As the title so aptly states, do you know how to love them? Have you taken the time to learn?
So this was unique in that you get the perspective of the exes and the new husband. I actually thought Indy and Micah were going to make it, but it was a unique spin for them not to....realistically. I am glad it worked out for Indy and Mello, but I honestly want Micah's story. He wasn't a completely bad guy, just wasn't a good husband to Indigo. I believe he was learning from that loss. It would be nice for him to have a follow-up where he can truly apologize to Indy (and she receives it) and he can develop into his fatherhood and maybe a romantic relationship with Georgiana.
*update* For Ruby is an update for Michah thankfully!

I'm not certain how I feel about this book. I started out rooting for Micah & Indigo to make a go of their marriage . When other factors are introduced in this couple relationship, well as Maya Angelou would say- When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time. This book had several twist and turns. I guess Indigo's suspicions were justified regarding Micah if only for "one night." And indigo found a man , Romello, who made it his business to show her that he would love, honor, & protect her always!!!!
At first I was rooting for Micah. I thought he was really being sincere when he claimed innocence. I quickly realized that he just didn't have it in him to be honest. Tina Martin captivated me from the start of this ride. Micah was a good guy but he really didn't have a clue about the feelings of the woman he was married to. Othello is the man every woman wishes she could have with or without the money. Everything about this story was spot on. So, if you're looking for the perfect love story you will never go wrong with Tina Martin's "How to Love Me".......
How to Love me - this book read like a modern Waiting to Exhale. I couldn't put it down and stayed up all night listening to Siri finish reading this. The storyline was vivid, and I felt like I watched each scene unfold. I cheered, screamed, and felt the female main character's pain, love, sadness, and grief.
Her best friend was fun, fierce and loyal. I loved this book; even the sad moments were redeemed in the end—limited sensual scenes. The plot was on point, and the book did not disappoint. Ms. Martin has a style that should not be missed.
I was Indy in the wrong marriage not once but twice. I wasn't afraid to be open to love because I knew I was suppose to be a wife and I was deserving of love. Indy had some created drama but she had a reason to protect her heart. Micah didn't mean to hurt but only the right man can love you right. 2 weeks of dating on March 9th 36 years of marriage. You'll enjoy this but if you love to follow people on their love journey
How to love me is a really good book I enjoy this book so much the characters in this book Micah and Indigo. They are a separated married couple you get read of the demise of their marriage. The great thing is you also get to see new loves come into their lives. I think the title says it all you can get it so wrong and get it so right with someone else. I think you appreciate more what you have then if you're paying attention.
How do I start? Well, I was Team Micah and I stay that until. I should have believed Indy and stayed in her team. I cheered for Indy and her new life. I love Indy best friend, she is so funny and a straight shooter. All in all this book is a great read. Thank you Ms. Tina Martin for your fine work.
Caramello surely knew how to show Indy how to be loved. I expected her to at least speak to the ex in the end. I think that shows growth in my opinion. Can't wait for crazy Shana and Jared's book. I'm speaking it into existence. You gotta make this a series. A book for her mom as well 🤔
I went through so many emotions with this book. First I thought Indy was being unfair to Micah and I guess he loved her . Romello showed her real love the kind she wanted and needed. What was Micah thinking bringing his daughter to Indy's exhibit? I still think Georgiana had ulterior motives when she met Micah.
It really wasn't my taste however it was well written. I didn't like how Micah was pretty much dropped from the story. I understand he wasnt relevant to Indigo anymore so his chapters tapered off but as a reader, who spend a lot of time reading his thoughts and feelings, I would have liked to see how his story ended from his perspective.
Mello Mello & Mello had me wanting to learn how to speak Spanish
Mello, Mello & Mello had me wanting to learn how to speak Spanish. This is another great ready from author Tina Martin. I don’t want to spoil book by giving too much away. Just one-click and enjoy your book journey.
I was so annoyed by the indecisiveness of her. The story dragged with the back and forth. I don't think how to love me accurately describes this character, more like make me the center of your universe.
This was a great story and I really can't explain how I felt once I finished it. So glad that Micah was able to see the error of his ways in how he showed his love for Indy, but I was happier that Indy was finally able to receive the love the way she should have been loved.
I really enjoyed this story! It gives you a emotional connection to the characters that you can really connect with! Each ones was so different and strong in their own right ! I like!
Interesting, typically we meet the man for the happy ending in the beginning. This was different, I was rooting for Micah at first but then it was like nope. It dragged a little but heated up and I enjoyed it. Glad she found the man that knew how to love her.
Great read, I liked the characters and storyline. Indigo and Mello are good together. For Mello it was love at first sight. However, Indigo was still conflicted due to her marital status. It was all resolved and Indigo found her true love and happiness with Mello.
Indigo proves you got to go through pain to come out strong on the other end. This is 1st book of 3 in the series. You must read the. In order to appreciate the story line
I love reading your books. This one really took me for a while different level on what it means to be loved and truly letting go to make room for something that is truly meant for you. I couldn't not stop the tears as I was reading. Thank you for this journey of love and your amazing stories.
This one started slow for me. But when Indy got pass her fears the story got a jump start. Love the secondary characters. Understood the pain of Indy and Mello. Another good read Tina. Onto Ruby , who yo say read How To Love Me to learn about Ruby.
Good read. Some times it's just better the second time around and a second chance was just what Indy Micah didn't know how to love and Mello had so much to give after getting over his hurt.
Amazing read! I liked Indigo most of the time. Every now and again, I thought she was unrelenting im her character. I was hopeful that she would work thru her situations; however, she was a woman firm in what she wanted out of life and from a husband.
