I don’t know why my great-grandmother stayed away while I was growing up, or why she suddenly appeared at my graduation right before her death. All I know is that when she died, she left behind a significant amount of land...and family secrets.
I came to the Nevada desert to bury a woman I barely knew and to make peace with the past. I wasn’t searching for answers, or meaning, or love.
Still, I found all three in him.
Strong and powerful, he is as untamable as this wild landscape. He speaks to me as if we’ve known one another all our lives. And when he touches me, I can think of nothing except his rough hands and protective embrace.
But my great-grandmother wasn’t the only one keeping secrets. Someone doesn’t want me to learn the truth, and they’re willing to do anything to keep me from calling this place home.
This is only the second book I've read by Shay Violet and it's so good! I didn't expect to get into the whole wilderness thing but I did and when I tell you it helped set the scene I meant it. The characters were so dynamic and interesting. Their chemistry was undeniable and I could not wait to to see them figure out if they were attracted to each other. The familial history was also a great incorporation into the novel. Bailey's writing was fun and quick paced and humorous. I can't wait to see what else she has in store.
I really really enjoyed this book I mean the cover!! COME ON....I think I’ve found my niche in books and that is places set far away from civilization in isolated settings (maybe quarantine is getting to me) But no I seriously enjoyed this book the descriptions of rural Nevada and small town life was just comforting to read and the author knows how to pull you into the setting of where this book is set. I enjoyed our two main characters but I wish we got more of them and their character development separately, I wanted to know more of Olin and his backstory. The ending for came a bit to quick also it just seemed like such a huge jump from where we started to how the book ended and I would have enjoyed to read what happened in the span of time at the ending of the book.
Overall I enjoyed this and it was such a cute read and I wanna read more from this series.
Finding love when you were only attempting to stay in a cabin in the desert all alone so you can write poetry!! A roaming dog causes you to venture into the woods and you rescue the man who sets your world ablaze. Olin a true educated and outdoors man who was so down to nature he touched the bare soul of a city girl who had a longing that she only realized when she laid eyes on Olin. Their whirlwind romance was exciting, passionate and electrifying. You love their love. A great quick read .
Rosandra, a city teacher who was named after her great-grandmother, finds herself yearning to find out more about her family heritage on her great-grand’s property and at their cabin built by them from the ground. She encounters Olin, a miner and dear friend and Co-partner with her great-grandmother in mining the mines. He fell for Rosanna through her graduation pictures that her great-grandmother treasured! With love embarking in their lives and promising mine shafts to excavate Ro Sandra and Olin fone a perfect life together!!!🦋
This was a good book! But the secrets were never revealed and the land was not left to the main character! You were lead to believe one thing but that did not happen. There was steamy love scenes. But the storyline was a little far fetched. I say read it and judge for your self.
This was a nice story.. the teach if ancestors can be really long. In Jonelle's case her GG put in motion some major life changing events. She saved Olin's life, his integrity made them rich as...
A short but good start to this series for me. The book is fast paced and an instant knowing between the couple. The book didn't lack anything and I felt like I had a full story. I'm definitely going to keep on with this author.
This was a quick read, loved the story, it's not often a story is written about a women of color who lives somewhat off the grid like the great grandmother did. When her great daughter goes to her cabin she finds love and a dog called Molly.
This book was different from the other Palmetto series, I enjoyed the other books more. But still a good book. Olin and Jonelle were an interesting couple. I wish more had been written about the children though. Sweet.
Olin had seen many pictures of Jonelle before he ever met her. When they did meet, they both fell into lusting after one another. From day one, the attraction was strong. True love prevails
Jonelle and Olin are great characters with hearts of gold. I loved their story, including the history and facts revealed. This book made you wish for a simpler and less chaotic lifestyle.
I know this was supposed to be a novella, but I think the author tried to pack too much in. There was a lot of info dumping and I didn’t particularly like the writing. Not enough build up and description for me.
It was an interesting storyline to find seeking family history and then finding your future connection from it. I loved the beginning introduction , then finding so much more in family and fortune.
A solid read. Interesting plotline. Loved both Maincharacters. But for me personally, the pacing was a little of. The first thirty percent dragged a little and the rest felt a bit rushed.
Really enjoyed this and the first book in these novella stories. This author is truly amazing at blending the characters and stories love these bwwm stories..
