***THIS IS A NOVEL, NOT A COMIC BOOK OR GRAPHIC NOVEL***
In the grimy metropolis of Citytown, Herman Fitzgerald is a down-on-his-luck community college graduate. He's broke. He's lonely. And he's missing his right hand after a car crash with a toxic waste truck.
When he (naturally) develops powers from the accident, the eccentric Doctor Sidney Saskatoon persuades Herman to fight crime for an exorbitant full-time salary. How? Replace his severed hand with a metal hammer and whack baddies into submission.
Sure, his money problems are over, but what Herman discovers in the underbelly of Citytown is danger, friendship, conspiracy, and betrayal.

I went into this expecting all of the superhero clichés and silly troupes on top of cringe writing as one can expect from a "superhero satire." I was both right and wrong. Yes you do get all of those things, but the book is aware of it and makes it work.
When I got to the halfway point of the book, I got so hooked I ended up not doing anything else I had planned to do that day and just finished the book. I had been hooked. Highly recommend this to anyone that is even a little interested.

In My Name is Hammerfist, Aaron N. Hall shows some serious comedic chops long enough to catch you off guard when the emotional blows start coming. A book full of heart and fun end to end, My Name is Hammerfist is a must-read, especially when so many things in 2020 are trying to suck joy out of us. My Name is Hammerfist is a delight.

What a funny, thrilling, and spectacular tale that kept me riveted.
Aaron Hall needs to be recognized as the amazing author he is! The Wevlian Chronicles and Hammerfist are all amazing books and I am so happy I gave these a chance. This book has adventure, suspense and humor that will make you snort when you aren’t expecting it. Have fun!

What a book! Anyone who loves comics and superhero movies will find lots to love here. It follows the basic tropes of those stories but then turns those tropes on their heads.
I think the characters are really well defined and I can’t wait to have more adventures with them.
Very well written.

This was a fun read. Easy one dayer if you need a quick mental break. It has a lot of Aaron N Halls charm and energy. The first half is very silly. But that second half…🤯. I couldn’t put it down. It also gets a little deep / dark. Can’t wait to jump into book 2.

This serviceable superhero fantasy leans heavily into the tropes, making for some wacky, whimsical entertainment.
While full of flavor, there are some pacing and prose issues that made it difficult to really engage with the material. The narrative drips with flavor and description, but at times it came on a bit too thick for me; I wasn’t always sure which details I should focus on. The self-awareness of the superhero plot was fun at times, and at others, got a bit heavy-handed. Perhaps that was intentional. Regardless, it was distracting on occasion.
Herman and his buddies are generally likable. Herman cuts a heroic figure in a low-stakes milieu; he is the prototypical everyman. His concerns are relatable: how would any normal guy react to being thrust into a situation like this? Most of his friends are in the same boat. After a while, though, the constant sense of averageness gets a little old. I was hoping for something to kick it up another gear or three and create more satisfying stakes.
As it stands, it was fine. Aaron Hall knows how to bring a plot to a definitive conclusion. The ride could’ve been smoother getting there, but there weren’t any gaping loose ends, and Herman does grow over the course of the novel.
I’d be interested to see what future Hammerfist entries have in store for us.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It was a fun little adventure that didn't take itself too seriously. I felt like I resonated well with the characters. I would recommend this to anyone that wants to read a quick superhero story.

I enjoyed this book way more than I thought I would. It was campy, fun, refreshing, and clever. A little disjointed at some parts but not enough to make me stop reading. Definitely worth the read!!

Final fight was so short. The ending felt rushed. I enjoyed the book, until the end.
