Fast-paced intrigue about a divorced woman with a nasty ex-husband who finds herself accused of murder and is forced to turn to Nasty for help. Lots of twists, turns and a surprise ending. Bullet Books are speed reads for busy people. After reading Stabbed, I will definitely read more in the series!
I admit, I'm not the right audience for this book. I've never been a big fan of most mysteries. The genre itself is just a little too cold for me, even the cozy ones. I always find myself giving more thought to the deceased than anyone else in the book seems to be doing. Oh, his poor parents. How are his friends doing? Does anyone know if he had a cat? But with "Bullet Books," there's not a lot of time to worry about whether or not anyone is sending meals to the family of the dead body. These mysteries are quick and to the point, short enough to read on a flight or a train ride. (Does anyone ride trains anymore?) Stabbed packed a lot of characters into its 126 pages and kept me guessing until the end. So if you enjoy books where people die but there's no one shedding tears for them, give this one a try. (Don't worry, I'm sure someone's taking care of his cat.)
This book was confusing in places, but still an enjoyable story.
English professor Blair Cassidy finds her boss's body on her front porch after having a public row. When another coworker is found dead with her prints on the knife. Blair is arrested for both crimes. Her ex-husband is an attorney, and she has documentation of some of the things he did in the past. There is also a nice surprise ending.
Pro's: Developed characters and a solid plot line.
Con's: There were many unanswered questions in this story. As this is my first story from these authors I'm going to say that the stories need read in order. If? As I suspect, this is supposed to be a solo story? It fails miserably. It's not a stand alone story by itself, or in a series.
Tried something new with this read! It was a pretty good read, and true to it's name, a really quick read as well! But with that comes some sacrifices and some troubles that I had with the book. I know that it is meant to be a short book, but I felt that I knew nothing about the characters by the end. Such as their backgrounds, their history, their motivations, etc. I just felt that I got the CliffNotes version of who these characters were, and I really wish I had more! It did have some good twists in it that were not expected, which was great! This was a fun and easy read, and I would pick up another one!
Quick little murder mystery with interchanging plots and lots of interesting characters. Everyone is either married to, divorced from, working with or known each other their entire lives. Hard to get away with murder in small towns. Never figured out just why the lawyers wife had to die. But everyone but one paid in the end.
As promised a quick read but it didn’t sacrifice plot lines or character development. You jump right in and keep moving quickly through the story. You have many characters to suspect as the murderer and probably won’t guess the ending. Enjoyable!
This story kept you on your toes until the end. Lots of action and suspense. So many twists. Couldn't believe that the main character really was guilty. Good author. Would highly recommend this author.
One night, as Blair Cassidy gets home, she finds the body of Dr. Capaldi on her front porch. Dr. Capaldi is Blair’s boss at the university. There is some evidence that points to Blair Cassidy as the suspect. Blair Cassidy has no choice but to get help from her ex-husband, attorney Hart Montgomery. This book has many twists and turns.Nit only does Blair Cassidy have secrets but so does attorney Hart Montgomery. Great storyline, strong characters, plenty of suspense and drama make this book quite a page turner.
Terrific, fast read! It's not long, but long enough to hold a ton of tension, complete with twists and double crosses. When Professor Blair Cassidy is accused of the murder of the boss who was horrible to her, she reluctantly turns to her ex, Hart Montgomery, a lawyer she knows will be able to defend her. If he wants to. She realizes she can't count on him, or anyone else.
