John Valentine left home for a science conference and never returned, his family chalking it up to the divorced father’s mid-life crisis. But when a body is found on the old family homestead, his daughter Viola must piece together the clues her father left behind. Along for the ride are her witchy Aunt Mimi, her uptight lawyer sister Portia and her sometimes ex-husband Thibault Boudreaux, otherwise known as TB. What they discover on this crazy ghost trip through Texas will be much more than they anticipated.

Ghost Trippin’ continues the story of Viola Valentine, who changes her life after Hurricane Katrina and follows her dream of being a travel writer. But the storm also blew open a psychic door and now she sees ghosts who have died by water. As she travels the South in her new career she must also solve mysteries that appear with apparitions. But the one person she hopes to speak to — her daughter who died of leukemia years before — continues to elude her. Or does she?

Interesting story and mystery. The characters have a lot going on as we learn the back story of relationships that affect the current mystery. The road trip provides the back ground for learning more of the mystery and why the police are involved. The characters are not endearing. But together they create a family. The book was okay, not great, but okay.

I read the book on NetGalley

Enjoyed the self-discovery of the main character, the inverted path back towards the man she started with, healing and growing back together...

I started this on #4 but will be going back to the beginning. I love cozy mysteries but this one wasn't just a funny mystery with a great cast (it was all that) but it had more depth than you normally find. It was written very well and flowed so well that I couldn't put it down. Loved it!

A big thank you to NetGalley and Kobo Writing Life for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is part of a series, and I think it would read better with an introduction. A lot of things occurred previously which makes this sort of confusing. If you ignore this it can be read as a stand alone. I was confused and not just because this is the first one of the series I have read. The entire thing with her sister Portia was just odd to me. Vi sees ghosts and TB is her ex?? Current?? See what is their relationship? Friends with benefits? Who knows maybe they aren't even sure. Confusing. Anyway I rate this a 3. I read the entire book but not sure I will read others. The whole looking for dad and not waiting for results was just confusing.

A really enjoyable book. It was the first book by this arthur that I have read found it to be very entertaining. I will be going back to read this series from the start to see how life was before with this group of characters. Viola is a psychic that can see people who died by water. Her husband is a descendant of angels her whole family is a bit crazy but when push comes to shove they are together. They start their journey in Louisianna and end up through texas and back trying to solve what happened to her father and coming accross other bodies and murders as they go along kept you going wondering what would happend to her next. Funny , sad, adventursome and poignant. looking forward to reading more by this arthur.

This is book 4 in the Viola Valentine Mystery series and can be read as a stand alone. Viola returns home to her family home to put her life together. She and her off/on husband just fought off some major demons and she wants to decide if they should be back together. Both are hurt from the death of their baby girl several years ago. Now Viola finds her father's ghost who wants her help to get some rest. A good story that readers will love if they are into paranormal cozy's. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Fun romp through family and the South

Enjoyable story but the edition has some typos. Would instead of wound and saying a character shared a name with the baseball great but calling that person Sandy Colfax. Colfax is the name of a town in Louisiana. Koufax was the ballplayer are the two mistakes that stick with me.

I think I should've started at the beginning of the series before reading this, honestly. The story was ok, I was a little confused on the characters relationships with each other. Loved the incorporation of the supernatural/paranormal. I think this would have been more enjoyable had I read the other books first.

I really enjoy this series. I think it's a good mix of fun mystery, culture, and spookiness. This story was a bit more straightforward than the last book, and I really like Viola's continued exploration into her identity and history. Fun read!

I enjoyed this book very much. It’s different from the norm. I like how the ghosts & supernatural are incorporated with the introspective qualities. It keeps it from being to heavy. #GhostTrippin’ #NetGallery

Ok, FINALLY, Vi is getting it!! I like the direction Vi's finally headed in and the mystery was really good with a nice twist towards the end. However, the author REALLY needs to get a new editor as the grammatical errors are getting out of hand.

Rollercoaster!

This is an excellent book with plenty of twists and turns and true surprises. Claire does a fantastic job of making everything believable. One wish: please find a better proofreader. I cannot wait to read the next in the series!

A good story. A book which, on the surface, is a cozy mystery, has a much deeper undercurrent. Witches, Angels, God and Goddess, all showing the important things in life.

I loved this book.

Great mystery

One mystery is always good but all of the mysteries are great. Unravel each one at a time to get to the best one of all. 😁
