On David's first day, he can already tell that prison is indeed not a pony farm. Still, he can't help sticking his nose into dark machinations going on in the depths of the prison. I read the translated English version and I'm not sure if things were lost in translation or the plot development was just bad.
Ignoring the grammar and spelling mistakes, both the character and plot development were lacking. Up until I DNFed, the reader has no clue why David is truly in jail (is he undercover? why is he so obsessed with a previous undercover cop in the prison? why else would he be so obsessed with finding out about the mafia's activities?). And then you have James. I thought he was secretly the whole time but it didn't seem like that was case. What was the deal with James? The character development was razor thin here, for everyone.
And then the stuff with the was just odd. It didn't seem logical and wasn't developed well either. I only got through two of *those* scenes and they made no sense.
Overall, I am tired of waiting patiently to find out wtf David is doing in the jail and this book is not nearly as dark as it claims.

Das war ja mal ein... Buch. 😏 Spannend, dramatisch, brutal, erotisch, irgendwie teilweise süß und humorvoll 😉 Eine durchaus interessante, gelungene Mischung. Ich habe mitgerätselt und gelitten. Bis zum Ende sehr spannend. Die Zusammenhänge und Wahrheiten bleiben lange im Dunkeln, so dass ich mich nie gelangweilt habe und immer weiter lesen wollte.
James und David... Ein auf und ab der Gefühle, heiße explizite Szenen. Verzweiflung, Misstrauen...
Einfach absolut fesselnd. Und unbedingt lesenswert.
Die Triggerwarnungen sind gerechtfertigt und sollten nicht ignoriert werden!

Puh, echt schwierig hier Sterne zu vergeben, denn die Geschichte selbst fand ich echt super cool und spannend. Hat mich total gefesselt und ich wollte ständig weiterlesen. Auch wenn es teils harte Kost war. Aber das war ja angekündigt. 😉 Also daran lag es nicht.
Allerdings hat meinen Lesefluss immer wieder einiges gestört, was ich sehr schade fand. Entweder es kamen Sätze mit falsch verwendeter Zeit vor - oder man hätte diese teils als Gedanken kennzeichnen müssen, wenn die Gegenwart plötzlich Absicht war - oder manch ein Wort wurde falsch verwendet, was mich dann total irritiert hat. Auch mit "gewesen" sollte man vorsichtiger umgehen. Wer es liest weiß was ich meine. Solche Dinge eben. Wirklich schade, denn sonst hätte ich eindeutig vier bis fünf Sterne vergeben.
Das Ende hat mich - eventuell auch durch die Wortwahl? - auch irritiert. Aber gut. Vielleicht check ich es auch einfach nicht. 😅
