A COURSE IN MIRACLES is intended to help you improve your thinking and brighten your life by learning to get in step with your true Self. It will give your life a higher purpose and improve your relationships by easing your grievances, healing your mind in such a way that can improve your physical health as well. However, none of this happens overnight; it takes time, but it is the best possible use of your time. The purpose of this book is to clarify the content of the Course so you will have minimal difficulty in understanding what it is saying. This will make the Course a fun read, rather than a frustrating struggle for understanding. The Course does answer the four basic questions of What am I? Where did I come from? What am I doing here? Where am I going? Years ago, Ray transferred all of his handwritten Course notes to an eXcel spreadsheet, and that enabled him to see the Course’s big picture. It amazed him at how well written, comprehensive, and cohesive the Course is; and he saw that every chapter, and every lesson presents one or more themes from a group of recognizable themes. Ray used those themes for the chapter titles in his book. You can find out more at Ray's ACIMclarified.com
Born in Denver CO in 1936, Ray was adopted and grew up as an only child. While in grade school, Ray read the Bible three times to find out what was required of him to make it into Heaven and avoid Hell, and he investigated Catholicism and numerous Protestant Churches. As an adult, he also investigated est, Ontology, Eckankar, Saint Germaine, Theosophy, and Scientology. He read the works of J. Goldsmith, Krishnamurti, E. Fox, and K. Gibran. He has studied the SEARCH FOR GOD books that came through the famous psychic Edgar Cayce. Ray and his first wife divorced after ten years of marriage. This caused Ray to realize he needed better answers than he could find in the resources of wisdom he had investigated previously. Ray met his second wife Marjorie in 1965 and they recognized common interests in metaphysics and the Truth. They eloped four weeks later. Ray and Marjie discovered A Course in Miracles (ACIM) in 1985 and concluded that it had all the answers they were looking for. They were pleased to find ACIM is neither a church nor a religion. Mutual application of the Course has helped them make it through their first 54 years together. Ray has a BSEE, and has been a technical writer, editor, technical trainer, product manager, and applications engineering manager during his career. Years ago, Ray transferred all his handwritten Course notes to an Excel spreadsheet, enabling him to see the Course’s big picture. It amazed him at how well-written, comprehensive, and cohesive the Course is; every chapter, and every lesson presents a recognizable theme. He saw that the Course answers the three basic questions about our existence: Where did I come from? What am I doing here? Where am I going? In 2014, Ray was accepted as an ACIM Teacher at the Rocky Mountain Course in Miracles Center in Denver, Colorado. Ray and Marjie currently reside in Cumberland, Maryland, where he facilitates an ACIM study group.
Raymond Wells has done a wonderful job clarifying A Course In Miracles AKA ACIM or "the Course," which I had previously found to be very difficult to follow. However, after reading Ray's book, the Course is now easy to follow, and apply. Two other books, Why Does The World Exist, by Jim Holt, and The Holographic Universe, by Michael Talbot (that appear in Ray's "Recommended Reading List" in the back of his book) give credence to the Course's description of reality; and the Course gives credence to these other two books. In retrospect, I now see that ACIM is like a giant jigsaw puzzle, that does not come with a big finished "big picture" on the side of a box, making it difficult to piece together! Ray's book gives us a great description of how the chapters and lessons fit together as pieces that comprise the big picture of the Course. And, the "pieces of the Course" differ from jigsaw puzzle pieces, in-a-much as each chapter and each lesson fits nicely together with every other chapter and lesson.
This book is very helpful to understand the concepts of the course. It's a good introduction and a good reference for course students like me. I will re-read this book once a year.
Finally a short book with clear and concise discussions of everything ACIM offers. This one I will recommend to anyone remotely interested in clarification of topics often misunderstood.
It's well laid out with easily comprehended language. You can feel the author's feeling for the subject but it's not overwhelming. The referencing is done in a way that doesn't impede reading.
This book is a good, short summation of ACIM principles. It is written in an academic style with quotes. As a result it is possible to read Wells’ commentaries and skip the quotes.
A word about my book. My initial experience with the Course was fraught with misunderstandings and slow progress. Other Course students were having the same experience as I was. It took too much time for me to reach the level of understanding that I have expressed in the book, and I wrote the book with the hope that it would help other students to reap the rewards of the Course in less time than it took me. I wrote it to be a companion for understanding ACIM; not to replace ACIM.
Another goal that my book will facilitate an increase in the number of ACIM students who are actively applying the Course, resulting in an increase in the number of changed minds that are joining in seeing the world differently, making it easier for the rest of our brothers to do it. I do want to make it clear that I have not done this for the sake of making money from the sale of the book. My plan is to use the proceeds from the book to finance the promotion of the book and to make it available at no cost to those who cannot afford to purchase itl
I now have 62 five-star ratings (18 with reviews) and 12 four-star ratings (2 with reviews) on amazon.com, and that has moved this book from page 7 of the ACIM book category on amazon.com to the lower part of page one of the ACIM books advertised on amazon.com (of which there are over 1,000!). I need more 5-star reviews to move the book to the top of page 1, and when that happens it will begin to get the exposure it needs to reach every ACIM student in the world. If, after reading the book, you could submit a 5-star review, it would help to get the book more exposure. Raymond Wells
