This is an EXCELLENT book dealing with the messy hearts of those around me, but most importantly, in dealing first with my own messy heart! I appreciated the author’s focus being on the goal of Christlikeness and his constant emphasis, especially in the latter chapters of the absolute need we have of the gospel in our daily lives and applied to all situations and issues of life!

So many great take-aways in every chapter. I often had to close the book mid-paragraph to absorb a thought and apply it to my life. I remember falling asleep very late one night meditating on the hope we have as we go to God in prayer for others, praying for His kingdom to be increased and His will to be done in the lives of others who may be in “hopeless” situations. So much gold here taken directly from the pages of Scripture. I’m glad I purchased this Shepherd Press new-release rather than waiting for a library copy, because I have no doubt that I will reference and read it again, as well as, share it with others. Thank you!

Excellent book on loving others in light of the gospel. This book is essentially discipleship/counseling 101. Mehl provides helpful examples and stories, but he really shines in his clear, concise explanation and application of truth in God’s Word when dealing with other sinners.

Amazing. Great read and super practical with stories minced throughout to demonstrate concepts that were introduced.
