HORIKOSHI Kouhei Name (in native language): Associated Names: Kouhei Horikoshi
Born 1986 in the prefecture Aichi, Horikoshi first attracted attention in the second half of 2006 when he entered Shueisha's 72th Tezuka Award for Newcomers with his one shot "Nukegara" and made it to the final six, where he gained himself an "Honorable Mention". Various short stories in Shueisha's Akamaru JUMP followed over the years until he published his one shot "Oumagadoki Doubutsuen" in issue #2/2010 of Weekly Shounen JUMP.
Kouhei Horikoshi is a graduate of Nagoya University of Arts. He was previously an assistant to TANAKA Yasuki.
Tomura isn't only the best villainy of the series, but he is truly one of the best characters and the origin part of this volume prove it again! Strong background character and a strong plot evolution made this one a very good one!
I need more of Shoto, Deku and Bakugo at their work studies. They are just everything. Three of my favourite characters in this series. The best characters in this series.
Also Dabi backstory. I need it. We learn about most villains and then Dabi in the back. Mysterious as ever.
The first two chapters were very painful and sad. Shigaraki reminded me of Ken Kaneki in this volume. So badass and terrifying at the same time. I don't know who am I cheering for now! It's the first manga series where I'm rooting heroes and villains in equal measure. 🥰
The rest of Shigaraki’s past was just as horrifying as I thought it would be—so much so I had to be careful of when I read it so that I’d be in the right headspace to handle it. Thankfully it wasn’t a large party of the volume which is why I didn’t decrease it to a three star like I did Volume 24.
And that non-decrease is TOTALLY due to Deku and his friends being the wild, crazy bunch they are! I cracked up over the “interviews” and their Christmas party was so much fun, especially when Eri and Dad Eraser Head joined in, heehee. And the fact that Deku and Bakugo can heckle each other without going to blows fills my heart with how they’re actually are true friends now.
I’m super excited to see Deku, Bakugo, and Todoroki work with Endeavor (got a kick out of Bakugo telling Endeavor he’s a jerk, lol!), though nervous too due to Hawks’ warnings and just how far Shigaraki is going to push this “war” and possibly go after Deku to get One for All. Yikes for sure, but excited to keep reading!

We dig deep more into Shigaraki's character. The future of the League of Villains, as well as the Meta Liberation Army, is decided. I REALLY liked the reaction of Gigantomachia when he finally saw Shigaraki as the successor. Things are getting really complicated and I'm sure the new arc will be great.
Villain arc was one of the best, and this new arc is building up very nicely. Looks like we're getting another huge climax in the next few volumes. This is the best MHA has been in a while, and Horikoshi's art only keeps improving.
I loved this volume, we finally get to see what the villains had to go through. Shigaraki is growing into an even stronger villain now, and both Toga and Twice were interesting to see. Their dynamic is so fun...
My heart hurts! Shigaraki needs therapy and a hug. Like, omg…I can’t even begin the imagine how much psychological pain he’s in—I mean his backstory is traumatic and brutal.
"If only, back then...someone, anyone, had reached out to help."
Shigaraki literally could've been raised by someone better than All for One. His backstory is so messed up. It's honestly frustrating how nobody noticed Shigaraki as a lone child and thought to help him.
The order of events in the manga is slightly different from how it was done in the anime. It doesn't make any difference to the story, really, but it's interesting.
And now time to wait for my copy of volume 26 to show up in the mail. Please ship it quickly, Canada Post. I'm begging you.
This arc is so goddamn good. The end of the My Villain Academia and also Deku, Bakugo, and Todoroki training with Endeavor. The Metahuman Liberation Army is insane and the stakes are just getting higher and higher. Love this series so much!
Mr. Compress: "No pain, no gain,' as people like to say." Dabi: "But you didn't do squat." Mr. Compress: "Ha ha! Nonsense. I was amazing at running away." 🤭
