Convinto di non avere davanti a sé anni degni di essere vissuti e attanagliato dalle difficoltà finanziarie, decide di darne via la maggior parte, tenendosi solo tre mesi. Quello che non sa è che dovrà passarli sorvegliato da Miyagi, una ragazza che lo terrà d'occhio ventiquattro ore su ventiquattro... Volume 2: Kusunoki, che ha venduto gran parte della sua vita, cerca disperatamente di afferrare qualche brandello di felicità nel tempo che gli rimane, sempre accompagnato dalla silenziosa e onnipresente Miyagi. Ma niente va come sperato. Quasi per caso riesce a incontrare la sua amica d'infanzia Himeno, che ha sempre visto come ti suo unico sostegno, ma... Insanlar manga kitaplarını hakir görmeye aliskin olsa da bu manga bu dusunceyi es gecmenize neden olacak kadar muhtesemdi. Kusunoki gençliğinde geleceğine dair hayaller kurmuş fakat olmamış ve bu nedenle elinde avucunda ne varsa satarak yasamaya calisan biri depresif kendinden bir nevi vazgeçmiş. Bir gün elinde kalan kitapları satmaya ikinci el kitapçıya gittiginde kalan ömrünü satabileceğini öğrenir ve gidip satar ertesi gün kimsenin görmediği ama kendisinin görebildiği bir gözetmen "miyagi" ile tanisir. Miyagi Kusunoki'nin kalan günlerinde saçma sapan bir şey yapmamasi icin kendisine göz kulak olacaktir. Bu noktadan itibaren olaylar akıyor.
Hayatta hangimiz hayal kurmadik ki değil mi... ve olmayan ne çok duamiz oldu keşkelerin altında boğulmuyor muyuz? Iste buradaki ana fikir küçük ve güzel şeylerde anlamı bul ve mutlu ol önemli olan uzun bir ömürden ziyade mutlu anlar içermesi. Beni çok etkiledi tavsiye ederim.

Essendo, questa, una miniserie di soli 3 volumi ho deciso di evitare il prime impressioni con relative recensioni volume per volume e di scrivere direttamente un’unica recensione complessiva.
La trama rende ben chiaro ciò a cui si va in contro nel momento in cui si legge questo manga. Inizialmente la storia parte piano e risulta un po’ noiosa, infatti al primo volume ho dato un voto di 3 stelle su 5.
Andando avanti, invece ci si ritrova proprio quel significato profondo relativo alla vita che si ricerca proprio nel momento in cui ci si approccia a una lettura come questa. All’inizio vediamo come l’osservatrice cerchi sia di rimanere in disparte in modo da non essere da intralcio alle volontà del protagonista, sia come cerchi di dargli consigli efficaci per risparmiargli dei dispiaceri che potrebbero portarlo soltanto alla disperazione, cosa che lei appunto deve evitare in questo periodo. In questo modo, però, i due si avvicinano. Il protagonista chiede consigli su come comportarsi a un incontro con un’amica d’infanzia e via dicendo, creando così una sorta di routine tutta loro in cui però nulla è scontato.
C’è una riscoperta di sé e delle proprie passioni tanto per il protagonista quanto per l’osservatrice. Questa serie, aumentando di volume in volume ha smosso un bel po’ di sentimenti e di pensieri sopiti. È bello vedere tutti i modi in cui si parla del valore della vita delle persone, del modo in cui questa viene valutata ma non vi dirò i criteri per non farvi spoiler.
Si affrontano comunque anche temi come l’amore e si nota, anche se non in maniera esplicita quello del filo rosso del destino.
Ne consiglio assolutamente la lettura con un voto di 4.5 stelline!

Title Translation: I Sold Off My Lifespan for Ten Thousand Yen Per Year
Another brilliant manga I’ve read this year that pulls on the heartstrings and provokes deep thoughts.
A depressed 20-year-old man named Kusunoki sells the last of his possessions to try and make ends meet. He’s failed as an artist, he’s failed to be with the woman he loves, he has no dreams, hopes or aspirations left. After even selling the rest of his belongings turns out to not be enough to live an adequate life, he’s approached by a mysterious old man who tells him about a store that gives you a sum of money in exchange for a year of your lifespan. How much money you receive depends on the value of your life and future.
For those that don’t know, 10,000 Yen is roughly only about 67 U.S. dollars. The protagonist is understandably heartbroken upon learning that his life is worth such a low amount per year and feels like what little time he has left is utterly worthless and won’t amount to anything good. He decides to sell the remaining 30 years of his life for a measly 10,000 per year until he has about three months left to live.
A girl named Miyagi that works for the store is assigned to make sure he lives out the last three months of his life to his full potential without any unwanted accidents or interruptions. This has quite a few unexpected consequences for both of them. The three short months they spend together changes everything forever.
An interesting premise that leads to a really beautiful story. Miyagi guides Kusunoki down memory lane, trying to help him overcome his regrets, failures and disappointments by confronting them head on. While battling the demons of his own life, he learns that his overseer is battling quite a few demons of her own. Kusunoki tries to spend the last days of his life trying to overcome his own heartbreaks while bringing some much needed joy to the life of his melancholy companion.
There’s some really hard hitting truths in the story. Sometimes none of our dreams ever come true. Sometimes our lives never really amount to anything of any significant value. Sometimes people give up on their goals and get lost in the false hope that someday things will magically get better, but they never do for some of us.
That being said, this story never reaches the point of sheer nihilism or hopelessness. It’s actually all about seeing the value in small things that no one else sees value in. Spending time with someone that matters more than any of your personal goals. Learning to live, laugh and enjoy the small moments even if they don’t have any significant impact on the world or the future. Not letting the cruel and unrealistic expectations of society overshadow your entire life. Learning to make new simpler goals when your previous goals and expectations were too hard for you to meet.
One truly happy day has more value than a thousand bland miserable days, in other words. Is it worth selling a thousand unfulfilling days in exchange for the most memorable day of your life? Who can say.
Really emotional and heartfelt story that focuses on the small fleeting joys of life without sugarcoating the harsh reality of it. Time is precious.

Saya tidak yakin apakah akhir bahagia layak diberikan untuk kedua tokoh utama (Kusunoki dan Miyagi). Barangkali para pembaca yang sudah melahap tuntas buku ini ada yang berpendapat demikian. Namun, dalam pandangan saya, secara keseluruhan buku ini menyedihkan. Dari awal sampai akhir. Meski saya tidak menampik ada cerita manis di dalamnya.

Un manga delicato, intenso e pieno di significato.
Disegni dal tratto netto e preciso, che sanno trasmettere tutti i sentimenti dei protagonisti, pochi personaggi e una storia abbastanza lineare che conduce il lettore al centro del significato di tutto, suscitando commozione.
L'ho adorato.

Ne avevo sentite di ogni su questa storia di 3 volumi, molti commento negativi ma non ero mai andato ad approfondire.
Dopo averlo trovato ad un prezzo stracciato mi sono approcciato alla lettura e che dire..
..una storia che si fa leggere, scorre via veloce e senza annoiare, troviamo sicuramente parecchi cliché, si vede che si forza la mano per andare a far lacrimare o far sussultare il cuore della/del teen di turno.
Ma ci sono due aspetti che ho apprezzato, il primo meno banale del secondo e molto personale:
la lore che si imbastisce che darà la base alla storia (vendere la vita in cambio di soldi), per quanto non sia approfondita, trovo interessante l'incipit di barattare cose non valutabili, per soldi, tutto ciò mi stuzzica, così come hanno già fatto altre opere con incipit simili
Il secondo molto più banale, anche qui trattato mille volte da varie opere in maniera sicuramente più realistica ma proprio per questo mai con la stessa filosofia e delicatezza di quest'opera...
..cosa faresti se ti rimanessero pochi giorni di vita? sei sicuro che quello che pensi tu debba o voglia fare sia davvero quello che ti rende felice?
Io ho trovato un opera inaspettata, della classica e banale parte romantica me ne sono altamente fregato, .a sono cmq riuscito ad apprezzare il contorno e anzi l'ho fatto diventare la storia principale.
