A great and beautiful story, it highlights the need for us to see the beauty in the world around and in our lives. It also highlights how important it is for us to save time for the things and people we love, pursue our dreams, and never lose that sparkle in our eyes. The book is filled with several quotes to save for life and reassess whenever we feel the need to.
I never knew I could change my *favourite book" from Khaled hoesseni's collection to this masterpiece. though there are a lot of opinions on as to why this book shouldn't exist but imo I think this is the most perfect piece of literature to ever exist. I still remember how I started reading this book. I was feeling a little under the weather and wanted to read something cozy, something enlightening to take all my sadness away, to make me feel like whatever I'm doing is worth spending time. I wanted to read something that's far from the usual hassle of this life and luckily I came across this book. I always wanted to watch it's movie and after knowing it has a book too(not knowing movie came first) I started reading it. If I write how this book is about few boys and the change in their life after their new English teacher starts teaching then it'd be a disgrace to this book, the author, my existence as a reader and it'd be unfair to all the readers out there. it's about life. (I'm astonished how this three word sentence carry such deep meaning within it). I kid you not if I say I actually started living my life a Little differently after reading this. CARPE DIEM. I don't think I'll ever be able to do anything with my life without actually saying this. it's become my Kalma to recite before doing anything in my life. I think now that I've read this book I can die in peace.
I haven’t watched Dead Poets Society yet, but I decided to read the book first. To my surprise, I assumed the movie was based on the book, but I’ve since learned it might be the other way around, lol.
While reading, I had the impression the book was written in a rush, as if the writer couldn’t wait to finish it. Maybe it’s just the writer’s style, but that’s how it felt to me—especially when Neil’s struggles were unfolding. The narrative lacked depth and felt shallow, leaving me detached from the story.
The characters didn’t help much either. They felt one-dimensional, each with one defining behavior that was repeated over and over. I couldn’t get attached to any of them, which made it harder to fully enjoy the book.
Overall, I’m giving it ⭐️⭐️⭐️ (3/5). The only reason it’s not a 2/5 is because, considering how short the book is, it could have been much worse in terms of depth and character development. However, I loved the overall vibe—it was comforting, even with its flaws.
I’m excited to watch the movie tomorrow and hope it delivers what the book couldn’t. I have a feeling it will, because Mr. Keating seems like the kind of teacher we all wish we had.
Great story. I had to read it for school and it was actually a book I really enjoyed and I’d recommend it to anyone. It’s a lovely story with a bit of philosophy and heartbreak mixed into it. I forget about many books I read but this one stuck with me. Definitely recommend it as it isn’t even a really long or difficult book. It just wasn’t a 5/5 for me as I like more drama but if I could give it a 4.5 I would. It was really difficult for me to rank it.
TDPS was not for people who don’t get emotionally attached to characters I feel like. To really understand the heart aches and breaks within the book, you had to understand the characters. There were bits and pieces I was still missing from some characters, but because the book was written from the movie, I can’t expect any more. Overall a good, emotional, heartfelt story.

I CAN'T REMEMBER WHEN I FINISHED THIS BUT I FINISHED IT LONG AGOOOO. IDK PERHAPS MY PHONE WAS BROKEN THAT TIME. It's a great book highlighting the need for everyone go pause for a while and look into the beauty of humanity— it's nature and true self.
What the hell, this was such a sad ending loved the vibes throughout the book and feel in love with the characters and the society, I felt like it could of been a bit longer maybe adding some description of the school itself, love this book so much
A story that leaves a mark. However, to say that the book does a good job of setting the scene and exploring it's characters deeply would sadly be an overstatement.
Bodenloses Buch.
I really wanted to read this book for a long time. It was hard for me to concentratie on the story at the beginning. But it was worth it!!! It was a really beautiful story. I did not expect the ending with Neil at all. I feel so bad for him and the other guys.
i gave the book 4.5 stars
