Two people who never meant to find love, stumble upon it. Will they grab hold or let it slip away?
Welcome to The Cove
With heavy iron gates, two security stations, and a groundskeeper's cottage, The Cove has everything a billionaire could ask for in a home. Dubbed Billionaire Bachelor Cove because of the residents' single status and income portfolios, The Cove is the perfect place to hide away from the world. But, as the residents soon find out, they can't hide from love.
His Beautiful Billionaire Distraction
Waylon West is ready to rise above the addiction that plagued him for years. Seattle will be his salvation, a place of restitution and a chance to repair a damaged relationship with his brother. Routine strengthens his defenses against the dark demons of addiction, one second, one minute, and one day at a time— until everything changes because of one woman’s stunning smile.
Billionaire Tayla Mills doesn’t plan to stay in Washington for long. When she arrived in Seattle, she was pleased to find that her house in the renowned neighborhood, The Cove, is more of a vacation destination rather than a home. She unpacked, completely unaware that a gift from a friend is about to change everything.
A rescue mission and a case of mistaken identity bring Waylon and Tayla together long enough to tear them apart. In the name of recovery, Tayla spends time with Waylon, never intending to fall in love with an addict. Waylon doesn’t want Tayla’s pity, but soon discovers he wants her heart.
Both haunted by irrevocable consequences of the past, Tayla and Waylon’s future is uncertain. Can love heal what’s been broken and is it enough to keep Waylon clean, even when the unthinkable happens?
I read the first two offerings in this series and awarded Ms. Penrod five stars for both. I strongly recommend that this series should be read in sequence because the story progress from book to book. As much as I enjoyed the first two books, this story was a big disappointment. In a word, it can best be described as BORING! It was obvious that the author intended to give a positive spin about the recovering drug addict brother of the hero in the opening book of the series where he even tries to kidnap his brother’s girlfriend to force him to give him money. Unfortunately, the romance element in this third story came across as unbelievable. For me, I had difficulty reconciling the drug addict introduced in the first story of the series with the addict still in the early stages of recovery in this story. A match between a drug addict, even though recovering, with a billionairess simply did not work for me. In trying to make it work, Ms. Penrod’s approach resulted in an unbelievable relationship between the protagonists. Bottom line: A match between a billionairess heroine and a near penniless hero is a tough sell. Unfortunately, I was not sold. Two Stars.
I really didn't like Waylon in Jamon&Gemma's story. But here I could understand him better. He was hurting because of his parents death and this drove him to become an addict. Happily he is resolved to change his life and gets the necessary help. Tayla has had an addicted father and when finding herself with money decides to open clinics for helping addicts and their families. She is a strong businesses woman, but yearns for love and companionship. So they were an unlikely couple. I am not into insta love and attraction and I couldn't get too much into their personalities. But overall it was a nice story. Narrative: 3rd person following Waylon and Tayla Religion: not really Sensuality: clean
I really didn't want to like Waylon West after I read Her Brilliant Cowboy Billionaire (which you should read first in my opinion), but I couldn't help but like him in this book. Waylon is a recovering addict, just 3 months sober when he meets Tayla. She's rich and beautiful and determined and isn't afraid to go after something she wants, but relationships are not her specialty. Tayla fights her feelings and attraction for Waylon knowing all too well what it is like to live with an addict. Waylon doesn't want Tayla to distract him from his path to recovery. He knows she could derail all of the progress he has worked so hard to attain and pushes her away to protect himself. But fate and determination seem to prevail as the two find themselves on the course to recovery and happiness together.
Waylon and Tayla are great characters that learn to accept each other, regardless of their life's negative background. When you learn your past doesn't define you, you are an overcomer 💪💪
I read to the 50% point. Probably a dozen lines of conversation in that much of the book. The rest? Thoughts, feelings, plans, meanderings, memories....in other words, needless narrative. Even skipping half a chapter at a time, looking for conversation, it was just the most boring story. With, I might add, no romance in sight. This was for me, not a book that could hold my attention, much less my interest. And it is not a book I would recommend.
This story was a quick, enjoyable read. It brought back a character from an earlier book in the series whose behavior was despicable and gave him redemption and a new life. It was encouraging and positive. I rated this book 4.5 because there were some typos in the text. I recommend this book!
This book is about overcoming things in our lives while also falling in love. The main character is someone who runs addiction centers because of addiction in her family.
A good story with a good core theme. The characters are believable, their difficulties understandable. Interesting having the female being the billionaire. Liked the dog. The snippets on addiction were useful.
