Small Town Protectors #6

Kissing My Best Friend

Rate this book
Jase
I’m not averse to a long-term relationship, I just haven’t found the right girl. Yet.

But the busy matchmakers in my small town have other ideas.

The kind that start and end with a wedding dress and a baby carriage.

So I tricked my best friend into pretending to be my girlfriend.
Just for the summer, of course.
Only I started to notice that my fake lover’s legs were smokin’ hot, that her lips were beyond kissable.
And I wanted to kiss her. Badly.

As summer nights grew hotter things got more confusing, real or fake, I didn’t know anymore.
It took almost losing her to realize that our fake relationship wasn’t fooling anyone, but us.

Bo
Everyone leaves. That’s the hard and fast rule I’ve built my life around.
Then my best friend and a stupid fake relationship changed everything.

Jase. My confidante. My family.

My fake firefighter boyfriend for the summer.
Emphasis on fake.
Until one little kissing booth ruined everything.
Made me see Jase as a man. A gorgeous, funny, kind, and did I mention gorgeous, man?

But it can’t work because I know how this will end.
In a hot mess.

Tulip Texas, the place with the hottest hometown heroes and the most meddlesome matchmakers on the planet!!!
Jase decides to ask his best friend Bo to pretend that they are seeing each other as the matchmakers have singled him out as the next batchelor that needs " help" finding his future lady.
What Bo doesnt know is that Jase has more on his mind than just a few date's holding hands together..Jase has wanted Bo for years but has been afraid to ruin their friendship.

Another brilliant book by the talented Piper Sullivan.....i definitely reccomend ALL HER BOOKS...as every single book oiss unique and each story has wonderful characters that you wont forget that easily.

This is a fun sexy summer read - Bo and Jase's story is so funny, since they can't seem to see what's right in front of them. Bo has a traumatic childhood and the only constant in her life if Chase. One day they decide to fake date and that's when the light goes off and they both realize that they are made for each other. The story is sweet and entertaining and I honestly volunteered to review this book.

Absolutely fantastic! A well written emotionally deep romance. The storyline is flawless, funny, witty, enjoyable, and very interesting. The story flows smoothly and moves along at a brisk pace with a few ups and downs and a mix of emotions on every page. The chemistry between them is intense and their love scenes are beautifully written and HOT!

This book stole my heart. Bo and Jase's story was a wonderful blend of poignancy, sweetness, angst, emotional turmoil and true love. These two were a combination of cluelessness and pure obstinance. There blindness to what was right in front of them was both frustrating and almost funny. I felt bad for Bo. To say that she had baggage, walls and insecurities was kind of an understatement. Jase, once the blinders were taken off, was quite swoon worthy with his fierce detemination to woo and win the owner of his heart. A very enjoyable story filled with humor, snarky banter and small town charm. I am posting a frank, voluntary review.

Jase and Bo have been friend for a long time so when Jase needs of fake girlfriend for the summer she agrees to do it. What will happen when sparks begin to fly between them. This is a fast-paced read with great characters, their story is so much fun and their chemistry is steamy. I really liked it.

Need character maps

Good story, but the ending was rushed. Additionally, stick with a story. Bo’s friend Mikki had the surname Russo in this book, while Bo’s last name was Mahoney. Now in the next book, she’s introduced as Mikki Mahoney.??? Why? She was supposed to be from a big Italian family in Mississippi. We are also told that he ex is marrying her best friend, but then later in the book, it’s her sister the extra is marrying? Stop changing who the characters are, especially as they appear in multiple books.

Came for the love story, stayed for the banter

Definitely hits the spot for a good ole friends-to-lovers romance. Part of a series, but I read as a standalone. Banter is funny and kept me laughing. There's a little intro to the other characters, which I can surmise take main roles in other books in the series, but they are not highlighted so much that it feels like an ad for the other books (which can sometimes be the case) and I appreciate that.

I just didn't enjoy it. I thought about DNFing it multiple times but powered through. The ending just.... bam, happened.

In the book's defense, I just don't love meddling side characters. Manipulation is a pass for me. And other than some misgivings, there wasn't any tension here. Maybe that would have been ok, but instead it made the book boring. I didn't *care* and wasn't compelled to keep going other than due to stubbornness.

Month: March Word: Friend

This was just okay. Nothing horrible about it, but nothing overly memorable either. The female character Bo was kinda annoying for me at times, but Jace was decent so that made up for times when I rolled my eyes at how the author made her sound nagging and irritating.

Another great Hometown Heroes story.
Very quick and easy to read, a sweet story of two best friends realising they mean more to each other but are the last to know what everyone else sees. Bo is the strong independent woman with a few trust issues, Jase the gorgeous best friend who helps her overcome them.

‘People in my life had a bad habit of leaving…’

Piper Sullivan loves steamy romances and has succeeded in penning many series that have become very popular – series such as Boardroom Games, Accidental Hookups, Alpha Male Romances. Accidental Marriage, Small Town Protectors, Daddies & Nannies, Cowboys & Bosses, and more. Now she presents a Friends to Lovers romance with KISSING MY BEST FRIEND and manages to revisit small town romances in a new light – a ‘fake’ courtship in the small town of Tulip, Texas.

The unique setup between Piper’s main characters Bo and Jase is well fashioned in the opening lines – two friends with something new in store: ‘That guy is totally checking you out.” Jase Callahan, my best friend, took the chair beside me and nodded towards the blond lawyer who worked with Walker, sitting at the bar. “He looked over here three times already.” His lips twitched in amusement until finally a dimpled smile appeared. I rolled my eyes at his attempt at matchmaking, a new hobby for the whole town it turns out. “Maybe he’s checking you out. Ever think of that? Some people actually find you attractive.” He was attractive, I had to admit that, even if only to myself…’ Engines started and the story proceeds.

Piper outlines this unique romance well – ‘Jase - I’m not averse to a long-term relationship, I just haven’t found the right girl.
Bo - Everyone leaves.
In a hot mess.’

Fine writing for an interesting romance – no wonder Piper Sullivan is so prolific and popular!

Welcome back to Tulip, Texas!!!

Jase is a hometown hero, firefighter. The matchmakers have tried to work their magic, but when he is about to be set up on a date, he informs the town, he is already involved with Bo, a local girl and his best friend. Now, he has to convince Bo that this is just a favor to help him for the summer. But can he convince her and himself that this is a summer fling? Or will he enjoy and develop his feelings more and more over the time spent with Bo?

Bo owns and runs the General Store, but never dates. "Everyone leaves", so why date, when she can stick to out of town men to see when she wants. But Jase is her best friend and the only man that means the world to her. So when he asks for a favor and feeds her in the process, how can she turn that down?! But what she isn't prepared for are the feelings that come with being Jase all the time and the looks he gives her, the kisses they share, the stolen glances she sneaks...can she truly let Jase into her heart? Will he protect her heart or be like the rest?

This is such a sweet story of overcoming your past to welcome your future! Love has a healing power that Jase and Bo find out long after everyone in town realizes they love each other. I could not put this down. I received an ARC of this book from the author. I can't wait to hear about Nate and Mikki and what comes next for Tulip!!!

This is one enjoyable Series and in this story we get to read about Jase another Hometown Hero and his best friend Bo. They both grew up in Tulip and Bo had a upbringing her mom left, her dad drink until it took him and her grandfather went too young. Never having anyone stick around for her all those years makes her believe that loving hurts too much. Bo is one beautiful young woman inside and out who can hold her own and with Jase being her best friend neither sees the attraction and love between them until the blinders come off. One day after Jase gets out of showing a new teacher around town after using Bo as his excuse do things get interesting. They agree to fake date until Jase wants exactly what should happen between a man and woman! Jase becomes determined to show Bo that what’s going on between them is something special, worth risking their life long friendship and he will prove to her just how much they belong together. Everything seems wonderful until the night of the fireman ball. How does Jase get Bo to finally see what’s right in front of them! I hope Nate’s story is next! I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

If you’re in the mood for a really good “friends to lovers” fake romance turns real tale then you really can’t go wrong with Piper Sullivan’s Kissing My Best Friend. There are lots of stories with this basic plotline of best friends for some reason or another ending up pretending to be a romantic couple, only to discover after lots of confusion and angst (and more) that they really do love each other. It’s a trope that I frankly love so long as it’s well done. Bo and Jase’s story is most definitely well done, with a well-crafted cast from leads on down and a really well-written plot. Bo may have taken abandonment issues to heights unparalleled, but, as her lifelong friend turned lover, Jase is just the msn to overcome this. Can’t ask for more than that. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend.

I loved this funny, smoking, fantastic story about what happens when two best friends “fake” a relationship. Bo and Jase are both stubbornly blind to what everyone around them has seen for years...that they are perfect for each other.
Bo doesn’t want to lose their friendship; she’s had too much loss in her life already. Jase is sure their charade won’t end badly, and that they’ll still be besties. But his feelings start to change...or maybe he’s just realizing that those feelings have been their all along.
Always a sucker for a great friends-to-lovers romance, I can honestly say that Kissing My Best Friend ranks in the top 5 for this reader. From the witty dialogue to the fiery chemistry to the funniest, nosiest bunch of busybody secondary characters...Piper Sullivan hit this one way out of the ballpark! With lots of heat and tons of heart, Bo and Jase are my new favorite couple!

I was gifted and early copy of this book. My opinions are honestly and freely given.

Friends for years, but then they realize they could be so much more if only Bo could get over believing that eventually "everybody leaves". The matchmakers of their town think they would be a perfect match but will they realize that themselves?

Jase wants to put an end to all the mother's in the town trying to match him up with their daughters so comes up with a plan to stop them in their trakes. He asks Bo, he best friend, to pose as his fake girlfriend but what neither of them realized is that from their very first kiss things are going to change between them as their friendship deepens into so much more.

Will they realize what that it's worth the risk to make their fake relationship real? I loved Bo, she is such a great independent spirit who despite her losses is able to give so much of herself to help others. As for Jase, he's a hot fireman, what's not to love? But seriously these two are perfect for each other but will they realize that in time?
