This book is really special! Erin did an amazing job connecting Ecclesiastes to Jesus’s teachings and promises. Insightful and thought provoking, very practical. It guides you as you wrestle through all the difficult questions of life and the tension we might struggle with as we try to come to Jesus as we are, when He really just wants our heart and genuine relationship with us! As we’re reminded often in Ecclesiastes, life is hard on this side of heaven and oftentimes seems meaningless, but how encouraging that the very God that created us knows us, loves us, and walks with us. A lot to wrestle through with Jesus so definitely will need a re-read, this is a Lent must have!
I really wanted to love this one as a huge fan of the author and a proud irreverent realist. But the connections just weren’t connecting for me. The train of thought was often hard to follow and I would have liked to see a little more support for the author of Ecclesiastes. He’s just working with what he has, ya know?
This book was a good and timely word, not only for Lent but also for our crazy world in the midst of the Coronavirus and the uncertainty and pain we find ourselves in. Little did she know what season she would walk us through when she wrote these words. But I think the Father has used her.
