Emilie and Caleb were sweet and cute. The climax was rather rushed. It's late. I have no more thoughts at the moment.

In 1836 Emilie Gayarre is summoned home to her estranged father's deathbed in New Orleans from her home in Fairweather Keys (off Florida). While there she learns a secret about her birth and eventually reconciles with her father. On her way back to the Keys her ship is attacked, her money is stolen and she is personally attacked by the pirate captain. When another ship attacks the pirate ship she is thrown overboard and rescued by what seems to be another pirate. Caleb Spencer's grandfather was a well known privateer but his mother married a lawyer and Caleb is a Washington lawyer visiting his mother at their plantation in the Caribbean. His short sail to Cuba comes across the damaged ship and the fleeing pirate ship. After several adventures, they eventually arrive in Cuba and go their separate ways. When a change in circumstances brings Caleb to Fairweather Keys they meet again. A great adventure story, romance and racial tension intertwine to a satisfying end.

The second book in the Fairweather Keys series now has both Emilie and her sister settled on Fairweather Keys where Emilie has taken over as the school teacher. She leaves for a brief period to visit her dying father in New Orleans; and, on her return, her ship is captured by pirates. What happens from here leads to many twists and turns which kept my attention through this enjoyable read.

When I started this book, I wasn't sure I was going to enjoy it. I am not of a pirate lover. But the more I read, the more I was drawn into it. Before long I could not put it down. Emilie returns home to visit her sick father to learn things she had no idea existed. On her return home, she is captured, shipwrecked and rescued for two bags of gold. What ensues is an adventure after her rescue and an amazing story of how God brings two people together.
Caleb is born into a family of pirates but he didn't have much to do with them except to visit his grandfather growing up. He returns home to visit his Mother who is a pirates daughter and learns he loves the sea more than he realized. However events unfold that leave him recovering from a bullet womb and his career is reassigned. God works in events to bring about his plan. This book was hard to lay down. Once it grabs ahold of you, you won't let it lay long. Just when you think you know what is going to happen, things change. As I met my husband through events God brought about, I could relate to how God brings couples together. You will fall in love with stories of pirates and good. Not everything that happens is bad as movies show it to be.

This was an awesome book - the sequel to Beloved Castaway.
Emilie Gayarre returns to her father's bedside only to discover a shocking secret regarding her past. She is so upset, that she stays with her father only as long as needed, then quickly leaves to go back to her home in the Keys.
She charters a ship which guarantees her a 3-4 day voyage at most. What she doesn't take into consideration is the pirates on the high seas. They are attacked and Emilie is kidnapped by a ruthless pirate.
While on board this ship, they are once again attacked and she finds herself a captive of another pirate ship. It is here that she meets the Benning, as the crew calls him. She fears and is intrigued by him all at the same time.
When she does the unthinkable, she is set free and then must face the decisions she made while away. However her decision must be kept secret.
Will she ever forgive herself? Can she ever get the forgiveness from God she so desperately needs?
This book started out a bit on the slow side and then ended in too much of a hurry, but over all it was a very good read. I will definitely read more of Y'Boro's books if given a chance.

It took me quite a while to finish Beloved Captive. Unlike Beloved Castaway, this story had some slow spots and less action. It started out strong and even made me cringe in a few places, but I always like it when characters are stuck in situations they can't control. I just never got the same sense of peril in this story as I did in the first book. I enjoyed seeing some of the same characters from the previous book, but it did drag a bit, and the ending seemed kind of choppy to me. There was also less romance than in the first book. However, I loved the part where they were both on that island and when the hero named her Miss Crusoe and when he kissed her. I also loved how the author had a twist from what you'd expect every now and then. But one of the key plot points seemed like it was resolved as an afterthought, so that was a bit of a disappointment. Overall, it was a decent read. I hate to compare books, but it is part of a series, so it's hard not to do that. I do look forward to the third book in the series.

As my first book that I have read by Kathleen Y'Barbo I am quite the fan. From several author buddies, Kathleen's books have been recommended and she has been called a great friend so I was excited when I was given the chance to review "Beloved Captive," the second book in the Fairweather Keys series, even though I have not read the first. But after reading this one, I do believe I will go back to find the first as this was quite enjoyable.

The title is absolutely perfect and captures the entire story. Characters are individually fabulous and entertaining. At first what I deemed to be a predictable story was actually full of unforeseeable twists and turns. Action and adventure with romance and pirates! What could be better?!

A perfect vacation or weekend read that I would recommend to anyone who wants a little pirate romance adventure.

LOTS of twists and turns in this book. Pirates, and slaves, and deserted islands...oh my! Hold on, or you could get seasick! It took awhile (like the WHOLE book) for the romance to develop, but there was plenty of action along the way to hold your interest and keep you turning those pages.

Even though this is one of Kathleen's earlier novels, it was good enough that I will definitely read the other two in the series.

I think I like book 1 a little better than this one(book 2). I like it alot though, and can't wait for book 3.
