Hell leaves scars, even on the Devil. And when a human gets a glimpse into the Pit, they’re changed in a way that can’t be undone.
Even by love.
The gates to Hell are finally locked, but it’s too little, too late. When Lucifer’s bloody past is thrown into their present, he does the only thing he can think of to protect his newfound family.
He walks away.
There’s always another infernal creature to hunt in the streets of the Crescent City. Always another crisis. When Lucifer’s absence triggers a chain of events with devastating consequences, it’s Grace who pays the price this time.
Escape seems impossible, and deals with the Devil are the least of Grace’s fears now. The only path to freedom requires the help of a sworn enemy, and beneath it all, Grace is changing.
He lit the stars, and she is his sun.
But what happens when that light goes dark?
Warning: Grace contains dark themes and adult content and is recommended for readers age 18+.
What a simply Outstanding book Ava has written!!! Grace was amazing!!! This series is so friggin well written and Grace is just another example of how talented a writer ava is. This book is more of lucifer's and grace's story. After Lucifer's fight with the fallen and having ripped off abaddon's wing Lucifer knows it's only a matter of time before war breaks out again so he makes the decision to walk away from grace, but with doing that he's walking away from the only happiness he's known in a very long time. His memories of his fall and his time spent in hell simmer to The top and all the old feelings of abandonment, betrayal from those he loved, just because he questioned father. I cried so hard for him and what was done to him. Sympathy for the devil has a whole new meaning for me now. Even with grace praying for him to come back, he stays away. Until Grace goes looking for him,but evil finds her and takes her life and her soul is sent to hell to take the place of Lucifer on his throne. Grace will see Lucifer's dark world and all those who inhabit it and get a taste of what his life was for so many years.THE only way she can find her way back home to Lucifer is to become a monster and fight to survive and when a unlikely alliance with enemy is her only ticket out she will show all those in hell why she's a fit queen for the king of hell. If you haven't read this series your missing out on one hell of read!!! In ava martell's world of Fire From Heaven's series theirs two sides to every story and that just maybe the devil isn't pure evil, and that angels aren't always the good guys! Until next time luv's💖💋
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
Lucifer first moments in hell:
Lucifer’s eyes fall shut, and the sound of his ragged breathing echoes through the cavern as he tries to focus his mind on something other than the pain. “Father?” It’s barely more than a whisper, but I hear it. “Why? I just wanted. . .” His voice trails off, and he says nothing more. My vision swims as I claw out of the memory. My shadowy hallway comes back into blurry focus, and I wrap my arms around myself as I try to stop shaking. It takes me a moment to realize that I’m crying.
This story had everything, it had the epic romance between Lucifer and Grace. It had angst with Lucifer being afraid that Grace wouldn’t be able to love the true him that he had been in the past and was going to have to be again in the fight against the fallen that escaped from Hell. I was cursing Ava Martell for making me love this series so much and making me cry like a baby so soon after starting this book. It really “has all the feels” as I have heard people say.
The story centers around Grace and Lucifer again, but this time it is after they are already in love and Grace has already gone through the spell where she has seen everything Lucifer has done and been through. She still loves Lucifer and has told him that, but after the spell she saw his life of thousands of years in a very short time then she sort of locked it up in her mind and hasn’t gone back to it.
So Grace saw some of the things he did in Hell as the Devil and when he was on Earth committing sins of lust and gluttony but she didn’t really stop to take it in. Lucifer is afraid that once she does, or if she sees how hard he has to be to take down the fallen, she won’t love him.
Lucifer walks away to think and doesn’t return for a while and that is when the story really takes off. I am not going to give away any spoilers but to say it is awesome. I knew Grace was a fighter but she is surprisingly resilient and awesome in her own right. The adventure in this story was better than in the first three, and I can’t wait for the next one. It should be epic. Also, I was right about where Gabriel was hiding, if you read my review of Phenex. 😇
I received an Advance Reader Copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Oh man! I think the entire book I was like : YOU GO GIRL!!YASS!
So we have again couple Lucifer / Grace. This time is different tho from the first book when everything exploded between them so fast. We get to see what transpired between them in the weeks after the events at the hotel, after the mansion and after Grace sees Lucifer memories.
This was all about Lucifer inner turmoil , the fact that he still feels unworthy of love and happiness and peace and Grace discovering herself and her love for The Morningstar.
"Heaven hunts her for Uriel’s death. Hell blames her for my defection.I did this to her, and I called it love."
Grace is a very good heroine. She is resilient, strong , resourceful and full of goodness and brightness-until she is not.. Oh man! she really did grabbed Hell by the proverbial nuts and owned it! A true Queen for the Devil himself. She was cunning and brave and I was left speechless of how she handled the situation and the allies she found. "We all become monsters in the end.."
I felt so heartbroken for Lucifer the entire book, for his thoughts and regrets and all the suffering he endured. "Hell wanted a ruler, Heaven wanted a scapegoat, and humanity wanted the monster in the closet. No one ever asked me what I wanted."
One of the reasons I like this series is because the heroines here are not fragile damsels in distress that awaits to be saved, no, they are strong on their own and they saved their own lives and sometimes the lives of the mans they loved too. They are equals , they are not left behind to be sheltered of danger and evil , they fight their own battles and they win!
And I finally found out where was Gabriel all along and also that the next book in line is called Gabriel 😁😁
ARC - I recieved an Advanced Reader Copy of this book, and in exchange, I offer a voluntary, honest review.
This book was amazing! I really don't know what to say about it without giving too much away, so I'll let the book speak for itself, because this a definite must read for any fan of this series! In fact, this whole series is a must read for any fan of paranormal or fantasy romance! This author is an incredible storyteller, with such awesome, interesting and complex characters. Even the villians are written in such a way that we kind of understand them; kind of feel for them.
It's going to be torture waiting until spring for the next installment of this series, which is going to be Gabriel's story.
I received an ARC copy which I have voluntarily reviewed. Sooooo goooood! Ava Martell has quickly become one of my favorite writers. Her voice is so unique, and she is a fantastic world builder. Her books just envelope you completely into her world. This is the 4th book in a series and I highly recommend reading the first three before diving into this one.
I read this book in two days as I couldn't put it down. I really like the alternating of the first person narratives of Lucifer and Grace. Grace's character grows so much in this book, Ava has fleshed out Lucifer's character like no other author that I've read that tries to depict him. I so look forward to the rest of this series! I did receive an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Satisfying ending to the four part series. There was an anticipated 5th book referenced titled “Gabriel” as coming out in the Spring of 2020 but given that so many planned events have been altered due to the pandemic I was not really surprised that I did not find it on Amazon. I will continue to check, however.
I was lucky enough to get an ARC this is the forth book in the series continuing lucifer and Grace's relationship Lucifer goes away and something devastating happens and the consequences to Grace are shocking you really need to read this book and I need the next one x
“Hell strips away your hope, one moment at a time.”
Indescribably beautifully written, Grace is the fourth book in the Fire From Heaven series by Ava Martell and it has penetrated just as deeply as the others, lingering under the skin, even the morning after in the harsh light of day.
In all honesty, I was apprehensive about reading this next installment in part because the others in the series have been so cloying on my psyche. I was almost afraid of re-entering this vast and intricate world again, knowing that in some ways it will set me off balance for a few days, such are the sheer quantity of emotions unearthed within this series. Martell manages to switch perspective almost seamlessly, the first novel which was a telling of the initial meeting of Lucifer and Grace and their intense/immediate connection was in a large part Lucifer's story.
This story belongs to Grace, and exploration of her humanity as it is slowly stripped away by Hell one piece at a time, only for her to discover that within her is this vast power to survive. To survive her parents deaths, her firstly almost childlike love for Lucifer, the desolation and cruelty of hell, only to emerge still as Grace, but a grown up and sure version of this character. She becomes an equal to all the characters previously explored, no longer an untainted goodness to be explored and exploited, but so much more. Lilith, queen of hell, the devils equal but also saviour. She is no longer a tragedy.
This series dissects humanness to the core. Through heavenly beings, retellings of judaic christian stories so entrenched in western culture, you see the cruelty and divinity of God and all his creations. As an atheist raised in a christian culture this fascinates me, the prose reminding me of the majesty I felt when first looking on the renaissance art of italy, and the pre-raphaelite works in england. This is a painting of words that lingers and reminds me why literature is so much a part of who I am.
I started book 1 two days ago and just book 4. Wow!!!! So hard to find the one author who captures that special blend of great writing, creativity, love for their story and characters and the joy of being a part of it. This author is excellent at showing you around the world of the war between heaven and hell right here on earth. Love love love the writing, the story line, the characters and the detail information to help you understand it all with out losing you to boredom in the explanation as many writers do. I am so excited to read the next books in this series. Wink....I hope for many more books
There are 3 books missing were suppose to be released in 2022 if I knew this i would not have started the series. If not for that it's a good read with many highlights .
This is a heart wrenching addition to the Fire From Heaven series. Well written with excellent world building and a consuming story line. A fantastic series and we aren't finished yet. Not sure where Ava is going to take us but I can guarantee it will be a roller coaster of a ride.
And so we return to perhaps the greatest of theological themes: the redemptive power of love. And we meet Lucifer again. - only through the eyes of Grace. ... If I said that my eyes filled with years at one point towards the end. I applaud such a new approach to a central concept.
Ava Martell has done it again! These books are amazing! And this one was no different. But I think this has got to be my absolutely favourite out of this series. I can't recommend this book or this entire series enough!
I have read every book in this series so far and this one is definitely the best yet! In the first book, we learned about Grace and her connection to Heaven. The chemistry between her and Lucifer was out of this world. I was expecting that this book bearing the title “Grace,” would be all about Grace. It wasn’t really. It focused on the connection between Grace and Lucifer, but most importantly, it truly told Lucifer’s story. Who he truly was. Quite honestly, my mind was blown away by this book! I found myself asking, “Why have I never thought of this?” I keep going back to Lucifer’s memory where he asks: “Father? Why? I just wanted...” Ava Martell not only made me like the Devil, but she made him so real and almost relatable that I couldn’t help but empathize and subsequently fall head over heels for him! Definitely one of the best books I’ve read this year! I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. This review is my honest opinion.
4.5 stars. I loved this follow-up to "Lucifer" and the continuation of the Fire from Heaven series. Grace and Lucifer make a compelling couple, and their journey is far from easy. Martell's vivid imagination puts you in Grace's and Lucifer's shoes so well that these characters feel stunningly real. I don't want to spoil the plot, so I won't say much about what happens, but there were several twists I didn't see coming, and as before, I was rooting for them both as a couple and as individuals. The very best romance novels show how love changes you and makes you stronger, and this story does just that. I'm very much looking forward to the next entry in what has become one of my favorite series. If you love paranormal romance, I highly recommend this series!
Full disclosure: I received an advance copy of this novel from the author.
** I was going thru my 2019 finding my favorite top 10 books and for some reason this book wasn't listed !!! So apparently I reviewed it on Amazon way back on Aug 14 but forgot to post it in GR ***
I found this series on KU earlier this year and flew thru the books and loved them so much I bought the first 3 !!! Grace is the 4th book in the series and it does not disappoint !!! The twists and turns will leave your jaw on the floor and wanting more !!! There are so many layers in this book along with lessons on fate and faith. I was so excited to read this I am a fast reader and I forced myself to slow down so I can savor it.
An unwise decision on Grace's part will cost her dearly, and Lucifer is inconsolable. While Grace comes to terms with her new circumstances, Lucifer will contemplate a way to end his existence.
Wow, I loved this book! It's written in both Grace and Lucifer's POV. I thought it was an exciting, well written story with unexpected, and sometimes surprising twists. The characters and the universe they inhabit are fascinating, and unique.
I am voluntarily leaving an honest and non-incentivized review of this ARC.
I got an ARC copy of this book and I'm mad at myself for not finishing it sooner. I've been obsessed with this series from book one and this was was just as good, just as gripping. It was so wonderful to focus so heavily on Grace and Lucifer again. This book will grab at your heartstrings and gives you that pleasantly anxious feeling throughout, hoping things will turn out well in the end but having no clue how they could possibly, making you desperate to read more. I cannot wait for the next one!
WOW!! TISSUES ARE NEEDED!! All the books in this series are FANTASTIC, but this one is the best so far! All the feels. I cried like a baby for Lucifer and the ending was so beautiful broken. I cant wait for the next one in the series. Quickly becoming my favorite series ever!
