SPUR AWARD-WINNING AUTHOR RICHARD PROSCH BRINGS THE WEST TO LIFE IN A WAY FEW WRITERS CAN…
Holt County, Nebraska, 1882
Deputy sheriff Whit Branham lives on the edge of unorganized territory seeking revenge for the death of his best friend. With moneyed cattlemen and killer horse thieves, anything goes and everyone is suspect.
Branham is still the law, still the man called in to clean up after a killing. And he’ll do it, too—with guts, grit, and guns.
Collected for the first time: Holt County Law, Holt County Iron, and Holt County Justice, plus the Whit Branham short stories “Branham’s Due,” “Buffalo Wolves,” and “Leonard in Jail.”
If you enjoy authentic flavor in your Western fiction, you'll like Holt County. The author has woven in real historical facts that are true to the locale and era of Holt County, Nebraska in the 1880’s and mixed it seamlessly with gritty Western fiction. I'm a Holt County resident whose family history in the county can be traced back to approximately 1877. I'm in the Holt County Historical Society and can say that I was delighted to read this collection of stories and that I really appreciate the effort it required to do all the research that this book took to make it feel so real.
