What a fabulous book! If you've ever wanted to trade shares but didn't know how to get started then this is the book for you! If you're already trading but not making the money you'd like to be making (or even losing money) then this is the book for you!
Very readable, no hard sums or complicated trader speak, just clear language and rammed to the gills with good old fashioned common sense.
Thank you, Robbie, the investment I made in your book was repaid many times over in my first month of trading. If I could give this book 10 stars I would.

Not a bad introduction to trading, would be good for someone starting out or trying to decide whether to get into it. I found the authors style of writing someone irritating at times though. I suspect it was in an attempt to make a potentially dry subject feel more interesting & accessible, but it didn't work for me.

In this book, the author gives you a no-nonsense and digestible information on how to learn to trade, find, evaluate companies & stocks/shares in a way that (in the author's own words) "cuts through crap like a lightsaber through ice cream".
I am a beginner trader and I have found this book very refreshing, easy to digest and packed with essential knowledge, tips and a step-by-step no-nonsense approach to trading. The author believes in less is more in his book as well as his trading approach. He has built a very successful portfolio using this system and has created himself a small fortune and earned a living from it (yes you guessed it, while trading at home in the early hours before the market opens, naked with a cup of coffee and a toast).
I have learnt a great deal from this book and thoroughly recommend it no matter what level of expertise you have in investing and trading. It is an easy 5 stars from me and I will certainly re-read it and take more notes to apply these principles.
The focus of the book is on how to develop your own personal "system" of finding a good company at a value, evaluating their business and potential growth of their stocks/shares, and placing your trade according to a strategy to minimise your losses while maximising your profits.
If you are looking for Technical or "Day Trading", this book might not be what you are after as the author does not spend a great deal on technical charting so you may need additional books on that subject as an advanced or a technical trader. Absolutely brilliant
I wanted to get into trading, and definitely was more keen to read and learn about this mysterious world, and hopefully gain a insight to take the plunge in the stock market. The Stockmarket effectively rules our everyday life! Being from the UK (and living in 2020) most of the well regarded books to read, are not very specific to trading in the modern day, nor the UK.
THIS BOOK IS BRILLIANT. With a modern approach, easy to read language and a teaching style that actually engages you to read more. I can’t compliment this book enough and for some of the lessons it has taught. Cheers Robbie!

Excellent read. Introduction to share trading for the novice wannabe trader. Makes everything dead simple to understand and he writes in a way that makes it enjoyable to read. Recommend to anyone who has ever been curious to learn about share trading.

The book is very funny and has been written in simple way without too much buzzwords.
His advises on picking up shares is interesting, spcially fundamentals and researches on companies before jumping on technical analysis...

I think this was a good introduction to the market for those who know some basic terminology and nothing about what to do with it (me).
Most people say there is no guide on how to invest step by step as everyone is different with different investing styles, but Robbie here shows how he does it so that a beginner can get some idea on how to choose their stocks.
I've seen some meh reviews on google or reddit or somewhere about this book and people saying how it wasn't for them and that this won't teach you anything. But this isn't a 'do it this way' book. It is a 'this is how i do it, you can get some ideas from me but still do your own research' book and i appreciate getting such detailed insight into how an experienced investor chooses his stocks.
My only negative criticism for this book concerns a couple of slightly sexist commentary to women reading when explaining terminology. You could've really done without it Robbie. Especially since you are talking to women in those sentences so you did assume some of us were going to read this book. If you come out with another book, I hope to be able to read it without cringing at your outdated mindset.

I came into a stack of finance & investing self-help books and will be doing some skim-reads and reviews. I judge these books along 3 axis: Competence / Usefulness to me / Would recommend. Books containing misleading information and factual errors tend to get 1 star. Books that are well-written, but not particularly useful to me get 3 stars. The best of the best get 5 stars. Now to this book.

*After a bookload of down-to-earth & sensible advice, the Author introduces "spread betting" as a way to invest in the market while avoiding UK taxes. Author admits this is a form of gambling, not investing. Seems unsustainable to me and ind of spoils the red he built in the earlier chapters.

I'm not quite at half way in this book and I have to say it's so refreshing to have a "self help" or rather "how to" book actually deliver of its promises.
The book genuinely teaches you step by step in planish English, what to do to set yourself up to evaluate, buy and sell shares as well as take precautions to minimize loss.
Additionally I find the writing style of Burns very pleasant which can be said for several other books in this genre.
If you have an interest in trading and stocks definitely have a read.

I loved this book. To be clear, the version i had was the 2nd edition but a very entertaining read, and by far the best intro to investing I've found the UK novice investor. It will set you on the right path to further research (because this field does require you to put in the effort) and it brilliantly aligns your mindset to be more pragmatic and steer clear of the usual traps that befall the typical investor.
Highly recommended if you're a beginner, you won't regret it!

This is a re-read of a book I originally read about 5 years ago.
Whilst the world has changed a lot in that time, many of the lessons from this book hold true.
There's some very useful advice and I particularly liked the 'traffic light' approach to reviewing reports.
A lot of what the author says is common sense but he presents it in a very easy to read format.
The first tie I read this book I would've given it 4 stars but this time round I noticed a lot of filler so 3 stars.

Can finance and investment books be made interesting and a page turner? Yeah! This book is a great example in terms of making a tough topic a light read. It’s a good book for beginners but would also say a good one to read again if you are a seasoned one.
Why one star less than an all star 5 review, well it’s because this is focused on a British market and you could potentially not relate to the companies and understand it in depth.

There were some good tips early on in the first half but the overall structure of the book was so all over the place that finding any value from it was really difficult.
The author needed to stop trying to be funny, stop waffling and plan out the book and what he wanted to get across more clearly.

Fabulous book for first time investors. If you're new to the markets this is good place to start. Robbie takes you through an extensive lesson in how to trade with a view to minimising losses. It may be a fools game, but some fools are nonetheless wiser than others.

Probably in my humble opinion the best book focused on making money from investing as opposed to the psychological or accounting aspects. A book for the average person.
This book would not be credible were it not for the authors long running website where he has been listing his trades for evidence mind you not as tips.

Could be informative for someone, particularly in the UK, who has not traded before and it covers quite a lot of the basics, with some good tips along the way.
It is far too simplistic for anyone who has experience trading however. It is also full of speculation and numbers thrown around without any evidence.

I wanted to learn more about shares and trading just out of pure interest. This is not something I know anything about.
I cannot recommend this book enough for a beginner. The author writes it all in first person, keeps it both serious and light hearted.
Above all else, it’s structured well and the plain language makes this book an excellent resource and quite frankly a joy to read.

Gives insights about trading in London. Key learning is stocks, ideally, should not be your only source of income. Otherwise, you may end up gambling all your money with the hope of that elusive one time big time win.

Once I received this book for Christmas, I already read it twice and I feel I will do so again. It's a gem for new investors wanted to understand the world of trading without feeling overwhelming. His explanations are simple for a 15 year old to understand and it's truly enjoyable to read

I have been trading shares on a very small level for about 6 years and I wish I had read this book before I started as it would have prevented a lot of minor mistakes. Good advice, book to refer back to.

Listened as an audiobook. Overall good beginner information to stock trading, the majority of which I am already well aware of. Given it 4 stars as the information is nonetheless useful, and always worth gaining another person's perspective on trading.
