It'sApril Fools' Day, the perfect day for playing tricks. Little Bear wants to have some fun with his friends, but if he's not careful, they might just play a trick on him first!
Else Holmelund Minarik was the author of the Little Bear series of children's books, which were successful as books, and were also made into a successful children's TV series. The Little Bear books sold more than 6 million copies worldwide.
Else Minarik was also the author of another well-known book, No Fighting, No Biting!
She was born in Denmark, and with her family immigrated to the United States at the age of four. After she graduated from Queens College, City University of New York she became a journalist for the Rome Daily Centennial newspaper and taught first-graders during WWII. Minarik lived in Nottingham, New Hampshire.
Probably very cute, but I cannot get the original books out of my head well enough to judge. Something is lost when the illustrator is only doing homage to Sendak, and isn't actually him. And something is lost when the book looks more like a small picture-book, instead of a leveled reader. I had no idea there was a tv series. I don't think I'll bother with any more of these, but rather just reread the original easy readers.
Little Bear is excited because it is April Fools day and he feels he should play pranks on his friends. trouble is he can't seem to come up with any! Cute little book for Little Bear enjoyers. (This book is very, very similar to this episode of the television show.)
