The Bible is a beautiful and divinely inspired book. From Genesis to Revelation the Bible tells the cohesive story of God’s unwillingness to be left out of the human story—your story. In this One Year devotional, join founder and voice of the Daily Audio Bible, Brian Hardin, on a journey to read it in its entirety.
Brian Hardin has been podcasting the Bible to hundreds of thousands for over a decade, leading people through the whole Bible every year. Now he’s putting his love of the daily reading of Scripture on to the page. In this collection of 365 readings, you’ll be surprised by how often what you read in the Bible will be a mirror into your own heart and motives. And you’ll be delighted to understand that God is not a distant and uninterested Being. He is deeply invested in the human story and deeply in love with what He has fashioned. God wants to know and be known by us.
I spent 2020 going through this read, and found it engaging and encouraging. Sometimes the daily-reading breakouts stopped at very odd places, mid-paragraph; that may have been my translation, though, as I used ESV (compared to the author's usage of NLT). Also, sometimes the devo didn't even touch on some of the reading, i.e. focusing on the NT portion without mention of OT, and vice-versa. Not having listened to Hardin's podcast (which I literally found out about right this second #todayyearsold), I may have gotten more out of it had I followed the two together or the podcast before the book.
Still, an educational and insightful read that kept me on track with reading the Bible in a year, which was exactly my goal!
What an adventure! I’ve never read the entire Bible before but this book took me through it in a year. Brian Hardin helped make the journey doable, with his daily commentary and manageable schedule of readings. I used an NSRV Bible together with this book.
I highly recommend completing this book as a 2023 resolution!! I’m going to do it again with a different version of the Bible.
Update: completed again in 2023 using the NIV version. Still recommend!
I like the chronological connecting the old and new testaments. The blending mode of Psalms and proverbs each day is a great working process. The journey has ended up and a new one has just began in the thirst and hunger after righteousness. Coming of the Lord is eminent in our time. So we stand out to make His witness to the whole world. Thank you very much.
This was a great companion to the Daily Audio Bible podcast. I always enjoy Brian's commentary at the end of his daily reading, so it was nice having extra material in written form to dive into. I found it difficult to keep up with daily, so I ended up reading this book in batches and catching up. I would recommend it to someone looking for a new way to go through the Bible.
This is an awesome devotional. It causes you to reflect and dig deeper in your devotion. I use it with my study bible and am enjoying my devotional time.
As a Daily Audio Bible App listener, this book is a great companion! Brian Hardin spent two years taking about 14-15 years of the Daily Audio Bible and put it into written form. It’s a daily format to read before you read your scripture each day. With this, you can read the entire Bible in a year even if you can not access the app. It will tell you which verses to read each day along with commentary.
Well written by Brian. I highly recommend this, even as a gift. I gave one as a gift! Mine is an autographed copy I got with my DAB Christmas box.
This was, without a doubt, the absolute best daily habit I committed to in 2020. Such a helpful tool to go deeper into the daily reading of the Bible in a year. I would highly recommend to anyone wanting to read through the entire Bible in a year. You will definitely know God more next December!
Excellent book! Great way guide and give you insight through your journey through the Bible! I highly recommend this book and the Daily Audio Bible Podcast along with it!
