Before being conscripted to fight in the Total War, Private Hector Park had a shattered family, a collection of old videogames, and a promising career as a motorcycle stuntman. Now, he is dying from a virus threatening humankind with extinction. He has three days to live.
When Hector’s brother contacts him after years of hostile silence, Hector goes to try and make peace. But his brother offers him something even better: the chance to cheat death by joining him in Archemi, a full-immersion fantasy VR-RPG videogame.
Hector undergoes the experimental upload process and chooses the difficult path of the Dragon Knight. To achieve his dream, he must prove himself worthy of imprinting a dragon, a being with whom he will share a telepathic bond more intimate than any human relationship.
But at what cost?

I’m enjoying it. I’m also reaffirming my extreme irritation with verbalizing texting and gaming acronyms. Do people really verbalize IRL? “in real life” uses the exact same syllables! Acronyms presume too much. There’s a couple I didn’t know. The story is exciting, characters and narration are immersive and well done. I’m invested enough to have inner gripes with the MC’s thought process. I’m happy that the crabby side character has enough depth to let go of the attitude long enough to move the story forward. Anyway, I’m in the middle of book two and looking forward to how it continues.
This was a really good detailed series so far. From the first paragraph to the last, these first three books were filled with really good detailed adventures. The characters were interesting, the locations detailed and even though the real world they came from was not a good place to visit, the online world was definitely somewhere that would be fun to visit. I am glad there are more books in the series, as these characters still have many more adventures that will also be in to follow along with. I definitely recommend this series and book.
Love it love it love it. Can't wait to read more of this series. Hoping Hector loses the Vampiric nature. Would do well. Suri is confusing, something will help her I hope.
The absolute details for all the different races and myths is just amazing in this book. The relationship between MC and his dragon was also fun to read. Goo Hector
