"The characters are so alive I can see them in my minds eye." - Amazon Review.Seventy-five years ago, the dragons fell from the sky. We thought they were just meteorites—six terrifying explosions rang the world like a bell. When the dust settled, we went on with our lives as though nothing had happened.More than a decade later, five of the eggs hatched. The dragons that emerged were small and weak. They kept to the shadows, working in secret to persuade people to do their bidding, offering magic as payment and reward. Years passed … and still we didn’t notice the evil growing in our midst. The war began suddenly. Survivors called it the ‘apocalypse’—nine billion people killed in an afternoon. Then the dragons revealed themselves, burning huge swaths of what remained, taunting and mocking and murdering the survivors.Four leaders The Wizard, the Dragon Rider, the Monk, and the Dragon Slayer. Allied with the rebel dragon, they waged war for years until they too were defeated, scattered, or killed. When the war ended, only one dragon remained … but that single dragon was enough to plunge the world into tyranny. The Dragonfall Trilogy - The Dragon's Egg, The Dragon's Codex, and The Dragon's Fang.Other Works by David A. Since my childhood, I've been passionate about fantasy. After reading many stories of epic struggle set in worlds of magic, I've decided to create a world of my own. The Seven Isles is the result.
The initial chapters start a little slow and seem similar to other reads from this genre. The action quickly crescendos and the amount of imagination the writer uses to blend magic with tech from our previous history is most amusing. The author lends a breath of fresh air into this genre, and I definitely would this recommend this trilogy to anyone with interest in a new take on an often time predictable genre.
Nothing I have read compensates for the end of this trilogy. I have never loved a sequence of words this much. Such excellence to the writing that I felt apart of the storylines and characters. Bravo to the author and his imaginative skills. If I was awarded one gift it would be a sequel to this series. I look forward to reading more about Ben and the return of his dog Homer (even in a robotic form).
I totally enjoyed reading this trilogy. The main characters were so easy to become enamored with. I absolutely loved Ben and the growth of his character was so well written! The entire story was truly a delight to read. You really won’t be sorry you dip into this world Mr. Wells has created. I hope to see more of Ben and Ellie’s story!
The world has been enslaved and dragons and wizards play their games and cast their spells with the human race being used as their slaves and playthings.
The mantle of power falls upon one man and his dog to secure the freedom of the human race from the terrors that have enslaved it. It's difficult to put down.
I think I paid $2.90 for the set and wasn't expecting much, but wow was I wrong. It was a thoroughly enjoyable trilogy along the lines of Ender's Game though in a dystopian universe mixed with fantasy and science fiction. I would highly recommend it if you are looking for just a good read!
A young man who communicates telepathically with his dog, takes on a dragon so powerful no one else will even try. This book has apocalyptic settings, futuristic high tech, magic, and a lot of heart. It's fantasy, and sci-fi, with a little steam punk and romance thrown in. All genres I love!
I picked up this series on sale after a hiatus from reading. This is the 2nd time I've done this and found an amazing series. I love everything about these books I just couldn't stop, I read all 3 books in less than 2 weeks and probably would have finished sooner if not for limited reading time. I strongly recommend these books to any scifi/fantasy lovers
This trilogy was overall such a good read. I had some difficulty with the writing style and the character’s personalities besides Ben. Otherwise loved the book and ended it with tears running down my cheeks and a smile on my face. I’m mourning this series as I fully fell in love with Hound, Homer, and even the Warlock. ;-;
The storylines are bought together with carefully crafted characters and tastefully presented emotions are running right throughout their adventures, all evolving extraordinarily. A awesome, wonderful read for anyone happy to leave "reality" and immerses into a different world.
Rarely am I torn between wanting a book to end and never wanting to finish it. This story is an amazing melding of Lord of the Rings and Ender’s Game; I’ll be hard pressed to find another equal to it.
I read this trilogy a few years back. Was like visiting old friends. I was once again enthralled with the struggle of good vs evil. I love dogs. Sometimes more than people. Homer didn't have a huge role but he had the best
A very original storyline . Full of great twists and turns in the plot ... always wondering what is going to happen next . Thanks Mr. Wells . Sincerely , Nan
I read all three of these pretty quickly. It's a fascinating trilogy, and there was just enough fantasy to keep me going. By the third book, I got a little bit weary of the protagonist always seeming to get out of trouble when the odds were stacked against him, but I recommend the books, for sure.
Story started out with great promise but somewhere it became derailed as in our author was merging two stories into one as if another’s influences changed your original pattern
I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this1st book of thiscompelled series. It makes me wonder the author gets the ideas for the series. Reading this book compelled me to read the next one of this series.😄
These books kept me right there with Ben and his adventures. His grandfather raising him,his brothers betrayal, his very faithful dog that guided him through life. His friends, his love and how he is able to overcome so many differnt things. A must read book.
I have enjoyed this book and the others that I have read by this author. The action is extremely enthralling, and the plot flows well, with continuous unexpected twists and turns. It is one of those books that is hard to put down.
If magic, dragons, love, and good triumphing over evil are topics you enjoy, then this series is for you. I haven’t read a good fantasy book in a while. I’m so glad I decided to read these!
Thank you David Great read, your writing style is easy to read and follow, you build an amazing landscape and characters. I couldn’t wait to pick it up and keep reading every chance I got. About to start another set of your books.
I enjoyed the story within the story...the story of Homer. Every dog is like Homer to the right owner. I would feel less than whole without my pups in my life. I enjoy Wells writing style. I would read anything that he writes.
Well written, interesting concept of this Earth's geography overlaid by 150+ years of living under the wyrm. Most of 9 billion people were killed initially, good story.
It's well written and easy to follow. I look forward to reading his other books. I recommend the Dragonfall Trilogy to anyone who hasn't read this that likes fantasy.
