Rick Renner is the author of more than 30 books, including the bestsellers Dressed To Kill and Sparkling Gems From the Greek 1 and 2. His understanding of the Greek language and biblical history opens the Scriptures to enable readers to gain fresh insight from God's Word
I love Rick Renner and his ability to dig deep into the original language and historical context to bring to light so many things I would otherwise be oblivious to in the Word of God. A really moving book, that ultimately encourages to the reader to “copy every stroke of the master” and respond to life as Jesus responded to unimaginable cruelties, unfairness, and more during the moments leading up to - and including - his crucifixion. Beautiful, definitely worth the read.
Very appropriate to finish this book Easter week. I loved how he dug deep into both the Greek and the history and culture surrounding the time of Jesus’ betrayal and crucifixion. I learned a lot and would highly recommend it!
Read and re-read these pages. The Passion of Jesus will come ALIVE like never before! You will learn how to respond when you are maligned, mistreated, and misunderstood.
This is a great book to read, plus it is a reference for later study. The author goes deep into the Greek terms and explains so much about Jesus' death and the time before it. I recommend this resource to anyone who is interested in detailed study of Jesus' last week before crucifixion and afterward.
This is one of the best books I have EVER read during Lent in order to do a deep dive into the Passion of Jesus Christ. In fact, I’m not sure any other book has ever come close to this one in the depth in which it explored every aspect of Christ’s suffering, death and resurrection. And it doesn’t even end there —the author also goes on to discuss in great detail about how Christ suffered for us leaving us an example so we can follow in his steps (1 Peter 2:21) and how because of this, we can better respond when we are faced with difficulties and sufferings and mistreatments which for most of us don’t even begin to come near to the extent that Jesus suffered in order to purge our sins. I plan to look into other books by this author since this has left such a deep impression on me.
I learned a lot about the Greek words used to describe the circumstances surrounding the arrest, interrogations, and Crucifixion of Jesus. There is one issue that I totally disagree with Mr. Renner. He states that the statement in Isaiah that states "By His stripes we are healed", refers to physical healing, thereby implying that all believers should be in good health and without disease. In the context of the Isaiah statement, it refers to healing from sin. That means we are transformed from Death to Life, from alienation from God to children of God, from hopelessness to a bright and wonderful future, not on this Earth, but in the future.
This book provides powerful truths about the persecution, death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. I love how Rick Renner makes you stop at the end of each chapter and put yourself in the story.
To identify with Jesus victory you must also identify with his death. Man did he pay for so much for me to be able to live free from the sins of this world. Rick Renner really brought that out well in this book.
I definitely recommend it on audible, though there are a few stumbles by the narrator.

Every part of this book spoke to the heart of Christ's sacrifice for us all. The pain, the abuse, the torture, all at the hands of a friend, the temple leadership, and the Romans. We all fail to truly pay attention to what Jesus really went through for each and every one of us, in order to pay our debt to God the Father. We are all wicked and must realize this and need saving, if only we would truly think about it in those terms. This book can help you remember such a thing.
The author goes back to original words in Greek to give the reader the complete feel of the passion. I found the book information and frightening. The passion came to be real for me and the suffering was unimaginable.
While I don’t agree with all the author’s conclusions I really enjoyed his explanations.
The author goes into extreme detail on the sufferings of Christ , giving revelation of how much we are truly loved by Him. before His crucifixion and during. No other religion of the world began with this passionate , self sacrificial God dying a horrible death for the love of the world.
As all Rick Renners work this is as good as it comes to know fully what Jesus went through to obtain our salvation and restore out right standing with GOD
Very good book overall though a few times the author's imagination ran away with him and he wrote things not really supported by the relevant scripture.
In all my years I never thought how much Jesus endured. Oh I have read TBE Bible and listen to great teaching but this explanation hit a home run. A big wow.
Any book by Rick Renner will teach the reader much information. This volume focuses on the Easter story. In this volume, we are taken through the Passion Story, looking at it deeply, exploring the meaning of passages in the Greek language. We go beyond the commonly known pieces of the story. You will have opportunities to reflect as you read.
This is a well written book taking a vivid look at Jesus' last days on Earth. The detail in this book are real accounts of what Jesus endured for every human being. This is a definite must read!!!
