It's good (3 stars) for what it is (which is an extremely simplified version for very young children), and I'm glad that I have a copy.

The first lines (on the first spread—first two pages) comprise a limerick. All the other lines are couplets of rough anapestic tetrameter.

I think the chickens (on almost every page) are a nod to the chickens that the Coxes raise at their home.
