As fleet admiral of Earth I was to observe, no more. Instead, I've ended up the captive of a powerful alien alpha. ...I'm liking it more than I ever imagined.
I wasn't supposed to end up kidnapped and held for execution by the chief alien alpha of our enemy. No, I was called in from across the galaxy for my expertise and my influence. I was supposed to study the ground situation and report back to earth.
Instead, I ended up a prisoner deep in the wilds of Wynmere, waiting on the whims of my powerful captor. But the longer we spend together—bodies close, eyes wide—the more we see into each other. The more we want of each other.
I'm used to being the one in charge, but he's the alpha, through and through. To survive this and sate my desires, I'm going to have to change. I'm going to have to accept my place as the omega. As his omega.
I don't really know what to say about this book, because it's not really what I expected but there are still aspects that I really enjoyed. So I have mixed feelings and if this book had been double the length it could have been amazing, yet was too short so lacking.
Canthor and Merrick spend the majority of the book arguing, trying to make each other understand their pov. Also spend more time talking and thinking about the ex loves of their lives then actually any romance between them.
While I found their discussions fascinating and rather interesting from start to finish. Along with their heartbreaking stories of lost loves and impact on them.
Sadly the feelings between them just fall flat in comparison, they don't get together until the last 10/20% of the book. It was rushed and disappointing.
If the book had been longer, it could've been wonderful as would've allowed to see their development outside the cell. However it came to an end far too abruptly after they finally bonded, Merrick becoming an Omega just as the tale ends.
Overall an entertaining read purely for the world building and discussions, with incredible characters. 💕
So, I did enjoy this. I kinda wish there was a bit more world-building (more about human/Wynmere relationships and the planet). As it is you get that plunked down in the middle of things kind of feeling that I’m not always a fan of. Also, the sex scenes were a bit more glossed over then I would’ve preferred personally. How is Wynmere anatomy different then human or is it just skin color? I didn’t realize that human omega were MADE and not born until it happened.
Additionally, some of the formatting was a bit odd. A bit too much spacing between paragraphs and, for some reason, the font was always a bit tinier at the beginning of a chapter. There were a few grammatical mistakes but meh, I’m not one to give up on a book over that unless it’s very bad.
I enjoyed the characters, the bravery of Merrick and the development and turn-around of Canthor. Even though their relationship development was VERY fast I thought their internal dialogue supported it enough.
I liked it. But I feel as if it was missing a big piece and I am still it sure where. I loved the storry and heartbreak of canthor and Merrick. They fit and didn't at the same time. I felt it was to easily explained away of pheromones for their sudden love to be be believable. But this is a work of fiction solo given that it was great. Can't wait for more.
A quick Omegaverse read. The internal conflict from Canthor and resolve the Merrick brings puts their story in a another dimension. It has all the feels!
