THE LOVE AT THE HEART OF THE BRAZEN BULLS MC

Oklahoma, 1968.

Brian Delaney is home from war, scarred in body and soul. He’s not the same man he was when he left Oklahoma, and he’s come back to a home he doesn’t quite recognize. He’s struggling to get his life going again.

Maureen Quinn was just a girl when she was ripped from her home in Northern Ireland and dropped into the middle of Oklahoma, a world she didn’t understand, with family she’d never met. Even years later, she doesn’t quite fit. But she has big plans for her life, and the drive to reach them.

One spring day, while Brian’s out riding to clear his head, he stops at a small-town store. The blue-eyed Irish lass behind the counter captures his interest with her beauty and sass.

Mo eyes the scruffy biker buying rubbers and smokes and finds herself intrigued by his husky voice and wry smirk.

And the rest is history.

Their life isn’t easy. Brian’s war isn’t over yet, and Mo’s fight is just beginning.

But their love is forever.

What they have is worth waiting for.

I was born and raised in the Midwest, but I was transplanted into the dusty soil of Northern California and have apparently taken root there. An inveterate geek and gamer, I am a fan of many things considered pop culture and maybe even lowbrow.

As a reader, my favorite genres are science fiction and fantasy, but as a writer, I've found my home in romance--or perhaps it's better to say simply "love stories." I have a yen to try other genres, too, at some point, but for now my muse wants to tell stories about lovers and families.

I write for the joy of it, and I write stories that I want to read. If others like them, too, that's just the cherry on top. I’m not interested in rules and formulae. I follow my muse and my characters and let them take me where they want to go, wherever that might be. I like big emotions, dark and light.

I like complicated characters with flaws and weaknesses as well as strengths, and I like each character’s strengths and weaknesses to be different from those of other characters. I’m much more concerned that my characters be interesting and diverse than that they be widely considered to be likable. I try to create people, not types.

Likewise, I want my stories each to be distinct from the others. Once I’ve told a story, I don’t want to tell it again. So even within a series, one of my books might be very different from the next. Some might be very dark, others equally mild.

That isn’t to say there aren’t trends and recurrences in my work. I’m drawn to certain themes and settings, and my muse has her favorite toys and tools. But I guard against those tendencies becoming a formula.

"WAIT is both a prequel and a standalone. If you’ve read The Brazen Bulls MC series, then you already know Brian Delaney as the first president of that MC, and Mo as his old lady. In the BBMC books, they are in their fifties and sixties, a couple long established and the patriarch and matriarch of that rambunctious found family. This is the origin story of their relationship, set decades earlier."

Wait grabbed me from the first page and I was on board until the end.  Brian & Mo's love story goes through the ages.

I read this book with my heart on my sleeve.  Their hardships bounded them to each other but their love was the glue that held them together.

I've spent the last couple of days having a book hangover.  Some books just hit you harder than others and this book is one of those.  Putting into words how an EPIC book makes you feel can be a real challenge.  But I can say this book made me run through the gamut of feels.  Happy tears!! ✦ Sad tears!! ✦ Angry tears!!

GET BIT BY THE MAGIC OF MS. FANETTI'S WORDS AND READ THIS BOOK!

5 "It was life." Stars

I've always wanted the story of a soldier from Susan Fanetti and what she gave us in her usual, painfully beautifully delivery was more than I could have ever expected or wanted. I'm so glad she chose Brian and Mo for this subgenre of story in a soldier and the woman who loves him. It's seems so natural going back in time, giving us a prequel with two characters for whom we already know and love to have this kind of epic romance before they came to be who we know them as now.

SIDE NOTE: Related to the above, if your new to the author or this series it's a perfect stand alone love story. You do not have to be a fan of the Brazen Bulls story to enjoy this one on it's own.

Wait is hard yet so sweet. It's the story of two people who can't live without each other once they find themselves through meeting the other. It's life in pain and glory told by the formidable writer Susan Fanetti in her brilliantly executed storytelling style. Loss and love are abundant. Mo and Brian will make you laugh and cry at the same time all the while providing hope, understanding, and resilience in the lasting power of love.

Susan Fanetti is one of my favorite authors and I love the Brazen Bulls series. I was looking forward to Brian and Mo’s story. They are such pivotal characters in the Brazen Bulls series and I wanted to find out more about their journey. I was not disappointed! I smiled and I cried. This was such a beautiful story of love, heartache, and triumph. It makes me want to go back and reread the series. I think it would shed some new light on the characters for me.

Where have the ratings disappeared too? I’ve rated this one five stars but I can’t see it! If you read the Brazen Bulls I think you will absolutely love Mo and Brian’s story, the story could be read as a stand alone but I really think it helps if you read the other books first and get to know Mo and Brian throughout the other books. I loved the story about Brian going to Vietnam and his struggles coming home, how Mo was his focus and strength but he still had his demons, poor Mo, her struggles and her loses where heart breaking. I cried at the end. Thank you Susan for another wonderful book, you never disappoint me. I think I need to re-read your books and I can’t wait for your new MMA series.

Melancholy, I don't know why, but it was just kinda sad. As well written as any S.F book. I'm not upset I paid for it, but.....Im confused about my feelings concerning the story she told.

This was a wonderful prequel to the Brazen Bulls series. This book can be read as a stand alone. The book follows Brian and Mo's love story from their meeting in 1968 until 2004. Some of the demons Brian carried with him from Viet Nam were heart breaking. Mo's life wasn't easy either. I think the relationship worked because Mo gave just a bit more than Brian did. I had no doubt of Brian's love for Mo but his concerns and needs seemed to take precedence over hers. If you like MC books and haven't read the Brazen Bulls yet give the series a try. Susan Fanetti is a good writer and can weave an entertaining tale.

I absolutely loved reading Mo and Brian’s story! It was beautiful and heartbreaking and yet filled with such amazing moments of patience and love. Every book by Susan Fanetti is a journey. Wait is no different but what I loved most about this journey was the step back in time, to find where the seeds were planted and where the roots took hold. The foundation that the Delaneys built themselves on is what makes me love the Brazen Bulls story all the more now. I get the deeply rooted love and the devoted care to these people cause it all started with Mo and Brian.

This was a heavy book in many ways. In others, it clarified so much. We delve in the past of the president and his ol' lady, before they became the power couple they are in the rest of the series. From the previous books, we're used to seeing them as strong, decisive, caring and infallible. In some way, as average kid sees his or hers parents. And, as it is the case with any set of parents, we find that they are indeed, very breakable and prone to mistakes. Yet, if we're lucky, they rise above them and they do better.
Add in a Vietnam war in the mix, and it has all the makings of a great story.

Heartbreakingly beautiful

I always wondered about the deep bond between D and amp. They were both so nurturing and the parental units in the clubhouse. Reading about their journey and their losses broke my heart but it gave me the understanding of why D held on so tight and why Mo was so quick to care for the hardened men in the MC. Like Isaac and Lily, Hoosier and Bibi; D and Mo hold a very special place in my heart as the patriarch/matriarch of their respective clubs.

Susan Fanetti is one of the best story tellers out there. She is definitely one of my top authors. Brian and Mo's love story brought out all kinds of emotions. Along with their being joy there was a lot of heartbreak. It was great to finally get the back story on the couple that has been the spine of the Brazen Bulls MC for many years.

So Sweet

I love all of Susan’s book and this one was also wonderful. I wonder how she is able to create these multiple series of books and not be redundant or formulaic but each story is unique and different. The other thing I marvel at is she tells the story of characters that appeared in previous books that I don’t always care about and sometimes don’t like that much, but then she tells their story, and I fall in love with the characters.

This is the story of Brian (D) and his wife Mo. I have to be honest, he was not necessarily my favorite character, even though he was the founding president of the Blazing Bull MC. I didn’t always like his decisions and in one book he gave an order to discipline a BBMC member that I thought was horrendously barbaric, so he really was on my you-know-what list after that. But this story is not so much about the founding of the BBMC as it is a love story about who D is and how he found his lady love and created a life with the love of his life, Mo. I really loved Mo and really could relate to some of her struggles. This book also brought me back to what it was like when Vietnam vets came home to a hostile America; my dad and uncle served in Vietnam and I remember the adjustment they had to make to civilian life. Susan does impeccable background research in all her books so I always find myself stopping to look stuff up!

I think what I always love about her books is not the hot sizzling sex (though those scenes are nice!) but the moments when the couples first realize they are falling in love. I love the emotional intimacy between the couples and I love that the couples go thru challenges, not always perfectly but they get thru them. And I love that in spite of their flaws, these characters find true love and they don’t love perfectly but they love authentically, warts and all. This is one of those books that you savor and will want to read again!

A trip back in time to the Vietnam War era to the late 90's

Wait is the story about the President of the Brazen Bulls Motorcycle Club, Delaney and his one true love, Maureen "Mo". I loved it as much as I have loved all of Susan Fanetti's books about those cowboys who ride their steel horses across the plains of Oklahoma and Missouri. In Wait, the reader experiences Delaney and Mo's life story and how the met, married and loved each other through their trials and tragedies. Be prepared to cry, to laugh and to feel deeply. Fanetti's character driven plots are as real as it gets and by the time I finished reading, I had the biggest book hangover ever. So I started to re-read the entire Bulls' series, beginning with Crash. I am a 67 year old Grandmother of 8, and the timeline of this series matches my teen and early adult years. The music, the cultural references and the Vietnam War are such a huge part of my memories, that my heart fills with nostalgia every time I enter Fanetti's bookworld. I highly recommend reading Wait, follow with Crash and then on through the next books in the Brazen Bulls series. Also, her other MC series about Signal Bend and the Night Horde MC is a must read! In my opinion, Fanetti is one of 3 Queens of this genre. Yes, many other good writers exist out there, but I never tire of her books because each story is fresh and never disappoints.

How could you not love this story

When I first started it i was not thrilled but I think by chapter three i could not put it down. I was in grade school for all the events in Vietnam. I remember and for the life of me could not understand why anyone would treat OUR SOLIDER S like that. And the the love story between Brian and Mo all I can say is WOW .

This is a prequel for the Brazen Bulls MC series, sort of. I was waiting for this story of D, the organizer and first President of the Bulls and Mo, his wife. Their story flashes backed to the Vietnam war. I was surprised how upset and angered I got reliving that era remembering how awful our men were treated when they came back home.( I was in my mid 20's then.) D was a Vietnam veteran while Mo was a student activist. The story line was good, but I could empathize more with D better than Mo.

I see all the 5 star reviews and I wonder if I read the same book. I did not like this book at all!! I know it was the history for Mo and Brian but this book just kept dragging on and on and on. We all know the history of the war and what the soldiers went through and how they were treated but this book was just an angry book to me. I thought it was going into the history of how the Brazen Bulls came to be but there was very little until the very end. This was a war book with a tenny tiny bit of MC thrown in. I think I might be through with SF. She LOVES to kill of the main folks in her books and while that may the reality of MC life I read to escape from reality. I am fine with secondary people getting killed off but not the main ones we fall a little bit in love/lust with. Anyway I really hated this book and it took me a few days to get through it because I got bored and could not connect to this book. Usually I read a book in one sitting but I made myself finish this one.

A true love story

There is so much in this book. As always Ms Fanetti makes you remember or if you're too young, feel as if you are there. The Vietnam War and the way it changed people's ways of thinking. The lives of the returning soldiers. Having read the Brazen Bulls series I was not a fan of Mo. I admired her but found her standoffish. This book makes that picture of Mo much more relatable. As the mother of an angel baby I always am weary of reading about infant loss. Ms Fanetti is one of the few that explain it the right way. The theme of family is also in this book. Family born and made. But the love story of Brian and Mo is the main story. And what a story. As with any Fanetti to book I highly recommend reading.

Wonderful

Having read the Brazen Bulls series, I knew much of Mo & Brian in between & during the years only touched on in this novel. This novel gave so much wonderful colour & understanding of where they were both coming from. I kept seeing them in the other books as I read this one. It was a wonderful experience.
Susan initially created two characters that exemplified undying love. The book is a Love Song, a great poem to two special characters come to life. Absolutely Wonderful!
There are only a few authors that can really write great biker, MC Romance. Susan is one of them. Bravo!

Finally the beginnings of the Brazen Bulls!
I really, really enjoyed learning the background about where it all began. I absolutely love Mo and Brian! My heart truly hurt for what these two had gone through. That they stood strong all through the years despite their traumas made me love them all the more. Wow! They definitely had their ups and downs. As beautiful as love can be, it can be equally painful. So incredible so see the depths of their love! Additionally, some questions that came up throughout the series were answered!! Now, I better understand the decisions that were made. This is an incredible story!! For any fans of the Brazen Bulls and/or Susan Fanetti, this is a must read!

Another great read

I am a big fan of everything Susan writes and this book was such a great read. It tells Mo and Delaneys story prior to the start of the Brazen Bulls so is not an MC read. Instead we go back to the 60's and 70's and such is the talent of this writer that you get all the feels of that time. Although this story is the final one in the Brazen Bulls saga it could still be read as a standalone . Thoroughly recommend.

Awesome as usual. Filled with many highs & lows. Susan Fanetti's books always make me cry all the myriad of tears (sad, pissed off, happy, etc., etc.). This book was no different. Damn... I just want to hug the heroine as she went through so much and stayed so strong. If you haven't read a Fanetti book, I highly recommend it. However, they aren't for the faint of heart. Little Ms. Fanetti likes to get straight up gangsta REAL in her books!

I was excited to go back to the start of The Brazen Bulls, as well as the start of Brian and Mo. This book took me on a journey through war, family and love. This book was not always an easy read, and there were difficult times and topics, but this is life. And Fanetti has a gift of telling these stories, though they are difficult, there is beauty in them.

Mo and D’s story was at times a harrowing read. I felt every ounce of the darkness they endured. Getting to know Mo was what won me over, along with the way she and D fought so hard to make their relationship work.
