Reckless is a thoroughly engaging novel. It is about a woman and a man who unexpectedly and unwittingly fall in love (I daren’t spoil the ending). It’s filled with a delightful range of unusual yet wholly recognizable characters each of whom either has his or her own story or is central to the main plot right up to the very last page.
But out there in front is Maddy. Maddy is a gutsy, sensitive, middle-aged woman whose past experience in life and love tells her that she has nothing to lose by living her life openly, happily and in a helpful and friendly way. Not only is Maddy capable of resolving almost any problem she encounters, she’s also capable of creating a few herself, when problems are least expected and least convenient.
Maddy she bumps into Sebastian – the “tall, dark and handsome stranger” who is as circumspect as she is carefree, as prudent as she is reckless and as cautious as she is bold. Well, ‘opposites attract’ and attraction is exactly what happens – or at least one of the many things that happens -- in this fast-paced novel where the unexpected is as likely to happen as the expected.
As Maddy and Sebastian unwittingly begin the slow mating dance of the shy who have been once bitten, the most unforeseen and, yes, predictable things happen but in such a circuitous way as to make this story a classic cliff-hanger.
Two attractive and appealing characters, the great city of London, the need and desire to live and work and earn and love – all of these ingredients Anne Marshall has combined to create a beguiling story that keeps you turning page after page, until….

A thoroughly enjoyable book. The characters in Reckless immediately came to life and are enhanced by their interaction with Maddy. Everyone needs to meet someone like Maddy in their lifetime! Her love of life seemed to envelop everyone she met. She truly was a ray of sunshine in the lives of so many, particularly Sebastian. Lucky devil! Looking forward to a sequel and wondering what magic Maddy sprinkles into more lives

March 27, 2020Reckless was such a beautiful story indeed - I loved Maddy and read her journey with so much enjoyment and was always looking for what she was up to next. Also it was a proof that when you have love and passion for life you can accomplish so many things and touch so many lives. I would recommend and I have done so to everybody.

Sebastian, a correct, shy, nose-to-the-grindstone, upper-class English businessman. His business acumen has given him wealth, health and social standing.
But each is missing 'something'. Neither knows quite what that 'something' might be.
