In the latest addition to the acclaimed Pierce Hunt series, Hunt races across Europe to stop an ever-changing threat to national security before it’s too late to save his country or his friends.
When the CIA calls on former Army Ranger Pierce Hunt to find a missing operative and friend, the last thing he wants to do is leave the peace of home and family behind. But there’s more to this mission than meets the eye, and Hunt knows he has no choice but to risk everything to save his friend and protect his country.
Hunt’s target is Jorge Ramirez, who allegedly has information that poses a threat to the national security of the United States. As Hunt tracks Ramirez in Switzerland, he learns that someone close to his operation has betrayed the CIA. His team is attacked, and not everyone makes it out alive.
Facing betrayal on an international scale, Hunt doesn’t know who to trust. The rules of engagement have changed, and the body count is rising. Will he find out the truth in time, or will this be Hunt’s final mission?

Another great Pierce Hunt thriller from Mr Gervais!
The story is great, kind of a plot I would have never thought of, but interesting locations, great action, and I’m totally glad I got to read this! The Pierce Hunt series is great and while you don’t have to start at the beginning to enjoy each book I recommend starting with Hunt Them Down then read Trained to Hunt! All available on Amazon!
Time to Hunt is the third instalment in the US Army Ranger turned DEA Agent Pierce Hunt series, and while I would highly recommend reading them chronologically due to some running storylines, it is not a strict necessity. Disavowed DEA Agent Pierce Hunt has moved to beautiful New Providence in the Bahamas with his girlfriend and heiress to the Garcia crime syndicate, Anna Garcia, and teenage daughter, Leila, to escape the violence, which had been ruling their lives, when his peace is suddenly shattered by unexpected visitors. CIA Deputy Director of the Directorate of Operations Dorothy Triggs and her son and ”right-hand man”, Max Oswald, turn up unannounced hoping they can rope him into finding and recovering his friend Charlie Henican who was seized by a group of men in Istanbul while attempting to assassinate Venezuelan narco-terrorist, murderer and most-wanted fugitive, Jorge Ramirez. He reluctantly accepts the mission as Henican had once saved his life when they were both Rangers in Gaza. But not long after leaving Hunt’s home Triggs and Max are ambushed by gunmen but both survive the attempted kidnap.
Despite the release of a video showing Henican alive and being held by a group known as the Maroon Berets, who accuse him of attempting to kill the Turkish president, the case is deemed too sensitive for Hunt’s often heavy-handed methods and he is sent to Switzerland to accompany veteran agent Harriet Jacobs instead. Their mission is to assassinate Ramirez. And so begins a high stakes game of cat and mouse, which weaves its way across several countries. With switching allegiances, duplicity and deceit being the order of the day exactly who can Hunt trust? This is a riveting and exciting read from start to denouement with all the secrets, lies, delusion, deception and corruption you could wish for in an espionage thriller. Gervais pens a breathless all-action story complete with enough drama and tension that it demands to be read in a single sitting, which is exactly what I did. This is one page-turning thrill ride with never a dull moment and as long as you can excuse the minor plot holes you're in for an entertaining, twist-filled and thoroughly enjoyable read.
4.5 I received a free ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Lots of intense action. Pierce Hunt is asked to help a friend who has been taken by the Turkish government. Charles Henican suffers beatings while his kidnappers attempt to break him, to give up his reason for being in Turkey. Dorothy Triggs convinces Hunt to take the job, with the help of 3 other operatives. They leave for Sweden with the assignment of assignation of Jorge Ramirez. At the last minute, the assingment changes. And Hunts operatives are slain. Hunt must figure out who betrayed them. And what happened to Ramirez. Short chapters, intense fire fights, treason, use of different narrators moves this plot quickly and sucks you in.
Simon Gervais’s TIME TO HUNT is one of the most exceptional thrillers it has ever been my pleasure and privilege to read, with the plus being an ARC. It may be read as a stand alone but there are two prior in the Pierce Hunt saga, HUNT THEM DOWN and TRAINED TO HUNT.
Pierce Hunt, a Ranger and former CIA operative, thought he could step away from the covert job and start a new life with family. But in the real world, dreams don’t come true. Hunt is contacted by Dorothy Triggs, Deputy Director of the CIA Operations Directorate to locate a missing operative, Charlie Henican, a friend, who was involved in a subterfuge plan to take down a rogue Venezuelan president visiting in Turkey. The kidnapped agent, part of a convoluted plot, poses a catastrophic problem as he is operating in unauthorized territory and is the holder of many a dark secret that concerned parties don’t want coming into the light.
Pierce Hunt goes from tasked to find a missing operative to being authorized and manipulated to assassinate the Venezuelan President. Each character introduced has a defined role in the intricate, interwoven storyline of the novel. It’s like viewing a multi-dimensional chess game with the pawns literally losing their lives. It is “kick in the door” action from inception to the last page. The novel runs the spectrum of emotions.
This is a novel of subterfuge,of duplicity, a treasonous plot within a plot, heart breaking betrayal and deepest loss. And let’s not forget vengeance. At the heart of it is a mole buried in the top layers of CIA operations.
I loved the attention given to the character’s emotional thoughts intertwined with the logical decisions of Hunt the protagonist. Gervais hammers away at the twisting, ever-changing storyline that holds you on the edge of your seat to the last page. It carries the fast scene examination of an Andrews and Wilson novel, firefights liken to that of a Thor or Flynn, with just enough narrative to paint the scenario geographically, like Carr, in some of the world’s most stunning landscape.
There is sufficient armaments discussed to engage the hunting and military fans. There is just enough mayhem to satisfy and keep happy those fans too. Gervais never loses sight of the roles played by secondary characters because of description intertwined to the main plot line. He engages the readers fully in the emotions of these characters, albeit good or evil. Gervais tackles treason, betrayal, love/lust, sacrifice, commitment and honor, ego, anger, rage, pain and grief. And how love wins in the end, but Death is not a stranger. There is a telling body count.
I’ve not read a novel that keeps such a “slam through the door” pace as this and continues voraciously to the very end. And got to say, I did not see that ending coming at all, a total shocker. What a magnificent story/plot! Just EXCEPTIONAL!! TIME TO HUNT IS A 10 ++ rating in my Review Grader List! Well done,Simon Gervais!
In a year full of outstanding thrillers, Time to Hunt is one of my top 3. No question. It's that good.
The pacing was breakneck, the plot gripping, and the characters inspiring, yet relatable. I found myself unable to find a suitable place to stop reading at any part of the book. I was literally late to an event because I needed to know what happened next.
I described Time to Hunt to a fellow reader as a combination of a Matthew Betley action sequence with the character endangerment of George R.R. Martin. That's extremely high praise on both accounts in my book.
In just about any scene, bullets and/or blows are flying and you honestly don't know who's safe and that's what me love the story even more.
I will fully admit that this was my first introduction to Simon Gervais and his protagonist Pierce Hunt. Let's just say that I slammed through this book so fast that I went ahead and ordered the previous two books in the series. I'm mad it took me this long to read him for the first time.
If you like a healthy mix of intense action and intrigue, then this is the book for you.
One of the best series in the genre. Reminds me of books by Ben Coes, Mark Greaney and Jack Carr. I love how the story and the characters have developed since the first book. It’s quick paced and full of action. Pierce Hunt is such an interesting and likeable character and I can’t wait to see what will come next for him. Don’t miss out.
Infantry veteran and former Federal Law Enforcement agent Simon Gervais is back this fall with his third heart thumping, action filled, Pierce Hunt thriller, Time to Hunt. His protagonist Pierce Hunt is a former Army Ranger, then went on to serve in the Drug Enforcement Agency, then became an off the books operator not limited by the rules and regulations professional law enforcement officials must abide by. His violent background is described with vivid detail throughout the series, we learn that for his family, his brothers in arms and those closest to him, there is nothing Hunt won’t do.
Picking up right where Trained To Hunt left off, Simon Gervais’ new Pierce Hunt thriller Time to Hunt lives up to its name. Having proved himself and his worth as a warrior, the CIA came calling to recruit Hunt and if you remember, at the end of Trained to Hunt, Pierce wants no part of it. But, Pierce has a soft spot for his brothers in arms and when one gets captured by the enemy, Pierce reluctantly agrees.
Coerced by the CIA, he’s drawn into a rescue mission, but then an opportunity presents itself in an adversary Hunt really badly wants to kill. Jorge Ramirez, the person responsible for many deaths when he introduced highly addictive amphetamine pills to our nations’ youth, among them, his daughter’s boyfriend in last years Pierce Hunt thriller, Trained to Hunt.
The mission is going smooth, everyone knows their role and is dug in their hide waiting for Ramirez to arrive. Then, all hell breaks loose. Hunt doesn’t it know it yet, but the CIA has been compromised. A battle for his life ensues, some don’t make it. This infuriates Hunt and he makes the decision to abandon the CIA and he brings his own team to continue the Hunt.
Time to Hunt is Simon Gervais’ absolute best thriller to date, with non-stop action and heart thumping, edge of your seat sequences that will keep you up late. Earning itself a Blast Radius of a Nuclear Bomb, this is one of the best thrillers of the year.
I recently finished Time to Hunt the latest Pierce Hunt book from Simon Gervais. These books are only getting better and better, although dark and violent the story about Hunt and his friends evolve with every story and is not as repetetive as some other series. Here we get new bad guys and we have a good continuing story line about the personal lives of the characters. Gervais is not afraid to let people close to the hero leave the world violently. We also can not be really sure who is the bad guy in the story because there is new facts coming all the time through the adventure as we read. Great stuff. I have to thank #Netgalley and #ThomasandMercer for giving me an advance copy of #TimeToHunt by #SimonGervais You should all be onboard reading this series by now.
Time To Hunt is NOT a book one can miss on. Despite my best efforts to savor the book at a leisurely pace, the fast pace and non-stop high adrenaline shootouts and brutal hand to hand combat had me hooked in tight. Not just the action, but also the constant jaw dropping twists and lack of security for almost all involved characters had me turning pages to find out what would happen next.
The story picks up right after the cliffhanger of Trained To Hunt, with Hunt deciding to undertake a CIA operation to rescue his friend, Charlie Henican, who was kidnapped by Turkish authorities while on mission to find and kill Jorge Ramirez, the antagonist from Trained To Hunt who had a big hand in killing many young athletes in US through a supply of lethal amphetamines. However, the mission is not as straightforward as it may seem, with unexpected betrayals and moles within the mission that create confusion and a smoke screen through which Hunt has to navigate to get to the heart of the conspiracy while Hunt has to decide who he can trust. I would talk more about the entertaining and exciting plot, but that would spoil the fun of unexpected twists and turns in the book. I will say this, it is the ingenuity of the author to have one of the moles’ character develop in a manner that it isn’t as black and white of a decision to label the mole as an evil character, not only for the readers but also for Hunt and his team.
The action is top-notch with accurate and descriptive weaponry in shootouts and high visual appeal in the way the sequences are written so much so that the reader feels right in the middle of the shootouts and fisticuffs. One of the major accomplishments in the action sequences is the infusion of emotions into the action. Hunt and Ramirez exchange blows and shots on more than one occasion and the author does an excellent job of setting up the appropriate tension between the two adversaries and how that anger seeps into the action sequences involving the two of them, making for highly cinematic showdowns.
Another great idea explored in the book is Hunt’s vulnerability as an aging operator. With all the shootouts and brutal combat he is involved in, the book dawns on his thoughts of his own mortality as the events beg the question of how long his body and mind can keep taking the punishment before he cracks. It’s an intriguing idea and its execution paints Hunt as a grounded protagonist. The locations in Time to Hunt are of global scale, including locales such as The Bahamas, Turkey, and Switzerland. I enjoyed the change in locations from the previous novels and it added to the exotic and dangerous narrative of Time to Hunt with a touch of espionage and spy thriller vibes.
Time to Hunt is hands down one of the best books of 2020, and continues to elevate Pierce Hunt higher in the list of the best characters in the genre. With an exciting and twists filled plot, riveting action, interesting and enjoyable characters, this is a clear winner! A must-read in every sense.
Time to Hunt is the third book in Simon Gervais’ Pierce Hunt series. Technically, this could probably stand on it’s own. However, there is a lot of backstory from Hunt Them Down and Trained to Hunt that would make this much more enjoyable.
Pierce Hunt, Anna, Leila, and Sophia are enjoying life as a blended family in the Bahamas. However, as the ending of Trained to Hunt teased – Hunt’s friend Charlie Henican has gone missing during an op and the CIA want Hunt’s help rescuing him.
Again, Gervais weaves several stories, that on their own are intriguing and action packed, into an overall arc that builds into an unpredictable grand finale. I love that Gervais is able to continue to add more characters without being superfluous. There’s a leak in the CIA, jurisdiction squabbles, and even family can’t be trusted. Beloved teams members on both sides will be lost.
While there’s a resolution to this mission, not everyone is left feeling their work is done and Gervais doesn’t miss the opportunity to tease another potential Hunt novel. It will definitely be on my TBL.
Bon Shaw’s narration continues to be fantastic. His voices are consistent from the first book and he handles an expanding cast of characters spanning various ages, genders, & accents. He helps make this series binge worthy.
Wow!! What a fitting ending to this 3 book series. Bravo Mr Gervais. Though I only 3 books, they really pack an action packed punch!! And saving the best till last with top notch action and plot driven narrative. The characters are so well put together and thought out throughout the entire series. And I just wish this series could keep going, but I am happy with where it ended.
The Pierce Hunt series might only be 3 books in, but I've been a fan since the beginning and each book has been fantastic. Time to Hunt is phenomenal and in my opinion the best in the series so far! I devoured it in one day. The action starts early and is unrelenting throughout, making it impossible for the reader to catch his/her breath, compelling you to keep reading to find out what happens next. It's simply unputdownable. Plus, the plot is well thought out and offers enough twists to keep from being predictable. This is a story of betrayal, honor, loyalty and justice, with a dash of family thrown in as well. Oh, and did I mention that Pierce Hunt is a bad ass? He is! He's quickly become one of my favorite characters in the thriller genre. He's got a great moral code and will do anything to complete the mission and protect those around him. Pretty awesome qualities that make you root hard for him to succeed.
Highly recommend getting a copy of Time to Hunt when it's released on November 10. You'll love it as much as I did if you're a fan of Jack Carr, Mark Greaney, Brad Taylor, Ben Coes, etc.
I received an advanced readers copy of Time To Hunt directly from the author in exchange for an honest review. I have read the previous books in the series and loved them. I am a big fan of this series and the author Simon Gervais. Time To Hunt continues this series run of outstanding thrillers. In fact, I believe Gervais deserves to mentioned in the upper echelon of thriller writers in this genre. Time To Hunt as well as the first two books in the series is action packed from page one to the final word. These stories would make for a great adaptation into a TV series (looking at you Amazon Prime Video). I highly recommend for Time To Hunt which is released on November 10, but can be preordered today. In the meantime, read Hunt Them Down and Trained To Hunt if you haven't already.
"Time to Hunt", the third book by Simon Gervais which features Pierce Hunt, a part-time DEA agent and a full-time badass. The two prior books were essentially revenge based where Hunt showcases his skills and racks up the body count. "Time to Hunt" sees Hunt back in the fold when the CIA comes knocking to track down a missing spy. "Time to Hunt" is my least favorite in this series, which by no means is a knock on this book. The first two books were just that good and Gervais had to move Hunt in a new direction to grow the character which he did a good job of. I would definitely recommend this book and I look forward to how Gervais handles Hunt in the future.
Time to Hunt is the third book in a series, and I have not read the first two. While there may be information about Pierce Hunt in the first two, I'm afraid I'll never know.
This book opens with what is to me a laughable action: an operative in Turkey, awakening suddenly in a bed, "diving" for a pistol that is under the other pillow on the bed. A team of black-clothed commandos bursts in and takes him away. He's tortured a few chapters later and at the end of that, it seems he is dying/has died.
Meanwhile, a CIA officer named Triggs is with her son, tracking down Pierce Hunt in the Bahamas. She was told not to go to Turkey to hunt down Jorge Ramirez (who apparently is someone they've been hunting in the first two books), so in the spirit of renegade officers everywhere, she sends someone else.thus, the dude bed diving. Her son Max is her second in command, and they talk about sending the badass Hunt to Turkey with another operative to get the bed diving guy back.
Their vehicles are attacked, and Max sends his mother down the hill behind them after she's been shot. As she makes a break for it, their vehicle is hit with an RPG and explodes, and her son with it, apparently.
I'll stop there for spoiler reasons, in the event you want to read this.
This is one of those very rare instances that a book is a DNF for me. At 15% (according to the progress meter on my Fire), we find out who the bad guy is. At 18%, he has a very lengthy internal monologue, letting us know all about his motivation and his plans.
How can you write a thriller when one of the pieces that should be thrilling but that is not present here is the hunt for the bad guy, sniffing them out, flushing them from cover out into the open so the denouement is satisfying? I know the ultimate bad guy is Ramirez, but short of capturing/killing him, someone else has to take his place in each book, and if I'm told who it is and why he's doing things, it really blunts the part of my mind that cares about what happens, since it's likely that person will be caught/killed.
Sadly, I cannot recommend this. As always, your mileage may vary.
Two stars out of five.
Thanks to Thomas & Mercer and NetGalley for the review copy.
Intense, action-packed, intricately plotted story of betrayal that created a great deal of pain and loss for more than one in the story. I have to admit that I had more trouble relating to and caring about the characters in this book than I did in the previous two in the series but still found this well worth reading and look forward to what may come next.
What I liked: * Pierce: competent, lethal, intense, team player, follows orders, has a conscience, cares for and protects those he loves. * Carter: Pierce’s friend, another skilled operator, good man, may retire in the future * Charlie: felt sorry for this friend of Pierce’s as he was betrayed and suffered greatly * The way the story spun out with threads that were woven together to provide a huge story * The action scenes * That at least some of the bad guys were dealt with * The glimpse of the people in Pierce’s personal life that he cared about * The twists and turns * Wondering what Pierce will be required to do next – hoping he will have a handler that he trusts and who cares for him – Hauer * That it made me question what it would take to do some of the things that were done in this book…the training, the mental process, the physical aspects…and in that same line…what it would take to be the bad guy and do what they did, too.
What I didn’t like: * The bad guys…and there were some that were not necessarily bad but were also not good * The ease with which death was ordered and lives were taken
Did I enjoy this book? Yes Would I read more in this series/by this author? Yes
Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for the ARC – This is my honest review.
Pierce and Anna are having a nice quiet life in the Bahamas when Dorothy Trigg, a Deputy Director with the CIA tracks him down. Charlie Henican, to whom Hunt is indebted, has been captured in Turkey. Charlie sometimes does contract work for the CIA and was on his way to assassinate Jorge Ramirez. Ramirez was supposed to have information that could be detrimental to the United States. Someone leaked the information that got him captured and Trigg uses that to reel Hunt in to her plan. Hunt and the CIA are not on good terms. He does most of his contract work with the DEA. Trigg and company get attacked on the way to the airport. The two police cars accompanying them are attacked and the officers murdered. Her son, Max, also seems to have been killed. Meanwhile, Ramirez has made his way to Sweden and Hunt is given the job of killing him, instead of rescuing Charlie in Turkey. Then even the hit on Ramirez is changed and it is obvious to Hunt that he is being set up. Meanwhile, in the Bahamas, Trigg hires Simon Carter, a very good friend of Hunt’s, to investigate the attack down there. Things are getting dicey and they get a whole lot dicier. At least the DEA has Hunt’s back. Pierce isn’t the only one being set up. The action never lets up and the surprises just keep coming!
Wow, just when I thought the series couldn't get better, it does! In this installment the action picks up exactly where TRAINED TO HUNT leaves off. Pierce Hunt is recruited by the CIA to go to Turkey to rescue a close friend. Before he can get there though his mission is changed and he finds himself in Switzerland chasing the bad guy responsible for selling bad, lethal drugs to young athletes here in America. It's here that Hunt realizes that someone close to the operation has betrayed the CIA and put his life in more danger (if that's even possible). Acton packed with an unrelenting pace, this one kept my heart racing from start to finish. All Hunt wants to do is complete the mission and get home to his family but with the rising body count his odds are going down. There's a lot going on in this one but it's so well and succinctly written that none of it is wasted space or too wordy. The characters are very well fleshed out and believable, even the villains who's POV's are expressed throughout. Like the previous two, this one does well as a stand-alone but I suggest you start at the beginning, they're worth it! Pierce Hunt is now one of my favorite characters in literature and Simon Gervais one of my favorite authors.
Thanks to the author for the gifted ARC to read, review and enjoy.
This one was just an extension of book 2. CIA hires Hunt to find Ramirez (a character from Book 2) who's on the run with state secrets. That's what the story was all about. There was betrayal and backstabbing and a few elements of suspense but overall the narration was bland. The stakes weren't as high as the previous books. IMO, book 1 was the best.
Time to Hunt is the third book in the Pierce Hunt series. In this story Hunt is recruited by the CIA to find out why one of its operatives was abducted. This story is different then the others. As Hunt and Carter travel Europe to find out what happened. Once on the ground they run into the drug lord from the previous book. Who come to find out is working with a rouge CIA operative. Hunt has to Hunt them down and put an end to this problem. This book takes a different route as the other two were more on the lines of Hunt dealing with the Mexican Cartels. I was a little disappointed in the beginning but the story ramped up in the last 75 pages.
This book was nonstop action from stat to finish. Unfortunately, this was to the detriment of the story line. I hadn't read the first few in the series so at no point did I get invested in the characters or care about their motivations. If you are looking for a quick read with lots of killing and spy missions, this is for you.
Time To Hunt is the third book in Pierce Hunt series. I didn't read the first two book but it's fine. This book can be read as a standalone book. Btw this story is told from multiple point of views.
It was a fast paced and full of actions. I loved thriller so I recommend you guys to read this book!! I can't put this book down and I wanted to finish it ASAP! I don't like multiple pov's because it's quite annoying and confusing but this book need it!!
Thank you Netgalley, publisher and author for Time To Hunt ARC!
Pierce Hunt is back at it again! This time the former Army Ranger is to find his missing operative friend and soon finds out that there’s more to this mission then he’s told. From Nassau, New Providence to Turkey, to Switzerland & Italy its a fast paced, thrilling ride! Hunt doesn’t know who he can trust. His team is attacked and someone higher up has betrayed the CIA. The Author has written with such believably and in a way that grabs you from the get go! The ending will have you thinking, wow I never saw that one coming! A must read and I highly recommend you get this one as well as the first two!
Time to Hunt is the first book I've read of Simon Gervais and in this series. I didn't feel I missed anything by not reading the other books. I also enjoyed reading the author's bio at the end, and he has a pretty cool background. He knows how to write a police procedural and does an excellent job of describing locations and bringing the reader into the story.
The story is action-packed and full of intrigue and a few good twists that I did not see coming. I like these types of books that are not too predictable.
I would recommend this book. I will also check out Simon Gervais's other books. I would give this book a 4.5 star rating.
Book Review: Time to Hunt (Pierce Hunt #3) by Simon Gervais (Published by Thomas & Mercer on November 10, 2020)
4.25 Stars.
"Hunt Them Down", Book 1, was one of the better values on Amazon First Reads in November 2018. In Book 3, Simon Gervais weaves a plot that takes quite a turn from the first two it reads as a standalone; and then turns the volume up to eleven.
-----
Palm Cay Marina, New Providence, The Bahamas. Pierce Hunt, former US Army Ranger and ex-DEA rapid response team leader, had just spent the day fishing with his daughter, Leila, on his Cobia 296, when he gets an unwelcome visit from Dorothy Triggs, the CIA's deputy director of the Directorate of Ops, its clandestine arm.
He, Lelia and girlfriend, Anna Garcia had moved to the Bahamas to escape the nonstop violence their lives had been filled with. Now, he's being commissioned on a one-off CIA NOC (non-commissioned cover, to be disavowed if caught or killed) which he reluctantly but willing undertakes. A close friend from Ranger combat days who'd saved his life, Charlie Henican, was taken reported missing in Turkey. Henican was on the trail of a most-wanted fugitive, an ex-Venezuela military narcotraficante responsible for multiple murders in the USA.
Little did Hunt know that what he and his team were to be in as pawns for a scheme of delusion and corruption to the highest heavens.
Explosive nonstop action!
Review based on an ARC from Thomas & Mercer and NetGalley.
I'm grateful to have received a signed ARC copy of this book from the author I'm so pleased that I was able to get an early read!!
OK, how in the world have I missed this author, these characters, these books🤦🏾♂️?! I'm impressed, I've watched plenty of spy thriller movies, but this was my first novel in the genre and I feel like I'm watching TV series. This 3rd book in the pierce Hunt thriller from Mr Gervais, but I read it as a stand alone because I try to manage to read this on time before publication. Can't wait to read the previous two. The author works in a military as an infantry officer and he served as a drug investigator.. and that makes him a great mystery, Police procedural story teller because he is very familiar with it. The writing is excellent! The story complex with multiple angles not just whodunit and it's over 🤷🏾♂️. Well-rounded characters, kept-me-on-the-edge-of-my-seat suspense. All included. 🙌🏿 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I was fortunate enough to receive a copy of this book in advance through NetGalley.
This is the third installment in the Pierce Hunt series, and I love how the author keeps expanding on his character. I thought Gervais's first novel in the series, HUNT THEM DOWN, was a fantastic intro to the series.
This novel definitely did not disappoint. Within the first chapter, I was hooked. It was one of those novels that you can stay up all night reading. For Hunt, it's a book of revenge as he tries to find out who in the CIA betrayed him and his teammates. I've been very impressed with Simon Gervais and his entrance to the genre. His books remind me of a mix of Mark Greaney and Jack Carr. I'd personally love to see more in-depth dialogue between characters, but this is a solid novel in a great series. I highly recommend it!
Time To Hunt is another great entry in the Pierce Hunt thriller series. Gervais has a lean, to the point writing style that puts you right in the action, and never allows the pacing let up. A page turner from the jump.
Pierce Hunt's idyllic island life is thrown into chaos when a close friend is abducted. Willing to risk his life to track him down, Hunt is quickly pulled in separate directions when the chance to put down an old foe is handed to him. Attacked by unknown enemies, who shouldn't have of even known he was on to them, Hunt must save himself before he can rescue anyone else.
Time To Hunt is not to be missed by fans of the genre.
I won this book in a giveaway. It has plenty of action and several interesting twists in the story, but for me it lacks character development. It is the third book in the series and I haven't read the first two, so that could explain part of that.
The story is laid out well and the plot is solid, and there is plenty of action. I feel like I would have loved this book if I had known the characters better. Still quite an enjoyable read.
