Urban Chronicle series is a collection of graphic short stories. Unlike typical genres of a comic book, this series is one of its kind that explores life in a metro. The infrastructure of built environment categorized by urban sociology has always been a subject of an enigma. City dwellers are often accused of escaping from their agrarian life towards the comforts of a bourgeois metropolis. But is it true? Is a cosmopolitan devoid of struggles and hardships? My stories are humble attempts to explore the above questions through some lighthearted tales that capture this alienated and fragmented reality through an imaginative weave of words and illustrations. Tinged with suspicion the three stories, in the first series of Urban Chronicles are grounded in the contemporary era. Nita may be best described as a lazy bookworm who utilizes her moments of feeling out of place in a social gathering by observing people around her and plotting short stories. Before she started writing fiction, she experimented with various occupations like computer teacher, computer programmer, kitchen designer, kitchen manufacturer, and office magazine editor. But her favourite job is the one she’s now doing full time — weaving stories. Mother of an adoring daughter she finds writing destressing. She loves reading on flights and she is at her best when left alone to scribble on her laptop in a library or a café. Knitting stories around relationships, emotional needs and various perceptions that build up the drama of life is her forte. She believes that travelling opens up her mind and helps her understand life better. Most of her short stories and travelogues have been featured in popular magazines such as Women’s Era, Alive and Airports India. “The Leap” is her debut novel. A collection of three delightful graphic stories, the storyline covers some typical aspects of urban life. Very few authors manage to capture so intimately the nuances of urban life in their maiden attempt. What makes the stories a good second and third read is the twist in the end. Narrative is gripping and the illustrations do full justice to make it interesting. Highly recommended.

City life is often touted to be an opportunity that is filled with exciting personal, professional and economic growth as well as freedom to do whatever our heart desires, alongwith the fast and high tempo that comes with it.

But at the same time, there is also a downfall to this lifestyle as it is seen to take away the comfort and relaxation of form life, most of the times being demanding and taking a toll on the life of the individuals.

‘Urban Chronicles’ by Nita Bajoria is a great attempt by the author to bring forth such fascinating stories from the urban life.

While these stories are fictional, the situations mentioned erstwhile are so relatable that they may feel like something the readers might have had already experienced in their life.

Human beings are social animals and therefore we often find ourselves drawn to live in communities. No matter where we go or what part we are from, there is always that Nosey Neighbor in our neighborhood that we all may be acquainted with.

The first story, Balcony from the book is based on one such individual and how their snooping leads to an ending we would not have anticipated.

The next story is about a husband who thinks that his wife is cheating on him and therefore wishes to catch her red handed in the act.

Despite the age old adage, ‘‘If you have nothing nice to say, dont say anything at all,’’ we all partake in gossip in some form or other. The third story is about one such Gossip Group who would go to any lengths to spruce things up.

This was such an entertaining novel and I loved reading every single minute of it, hence I am going to give this book FIVE CHRONICLES STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Urban chronicles
Author - Nita Bajoria
Genre - graphic novel / fiction / Short stories
Rating 5/5
Format - Paperback

What if short stories would be presented to you as a graphic book? All the sensible thoughts are conveyed here through wonderfully drawn illustrations which I find a refresher for readers. Do you read graphic novels? After reading a lot of heavyweight novels this change was very refreshing for me, all the stories here swiping like a cool breeze.

Nita Bajoria in her graphic book sheds her stories of urban life. She delves into today's urban people and their busy life. The author shows her immaculate observation in these short stories here. Every story here stirs some message to our hearts. The first stories of these two books have a melancholic ambiance and author very efficiently handled the issues.
Some stories create sensitive questions about parenthood. Very Sensibly she narrates the sensitive matters.

All the stories are based on societal life. In her distinguished style, some stories author presented in a funny manner to create lighter effects on readers. The presented vivacity of these stories is awesome. The way author illuminated relationships, I almost became a fan of her writing.

In the face of an increasingly materialistic life and mechanism orientation, Nita Bajoria attempts to locate the place of hidden emotions in decaying humanism.

There is some sadness in the stories but it opens to a new beginning which is making the hope of profundity. In the backdrop of city life, all stories started to hook you.

I was very much a fan of comics books in my teens because they use sequential art to tell a story, this sequential art of this book makes all these stories more interesting and impactful yet it's delivered freshness to the reader's mind. Author did an admirable job of choosing this style.

Graphic novels are generally stand-alone stories with more complex plots but the amalgamation of emotions served with vivacious pictures makes me want to read more. These books took you on a rollercoaster journey and at the end, they left you with a soft sorrow ness yet blend in a tinge of happiness

Those who don't want to read heavy novels with complexity can try this it's lighter.

Those who are suffering reading slumps can read this to become refreshingly spirited readers again.

Though I don't read much in my native language, but here I wanted to give it a try to see where do I stand in reading and understanding hindi after years of leaving behind it.

And yayy!! Your girl can read and understand it pretty well.

So here is a new book out there, #UrbanChronicles by @bajorianita which includes short stories of day-to-day life events of a middle class family. It is a graphic novel so you can understand it better with pictures.
The graphic designing is at par which brightens up the stories well. This is the part one of #UrbanChronicles Series and it includes stories where a husband wants to get rid of a whining and a skeptic wife, others including a curious and intervening neighbour which brings up some peculiar events happening in our society and lastly the existence of GBG group ( Gossip Brewers Group) who can go to any extent to figure out the mysterious spicy gossips.

These stories have been written to bring the lens to the life of an Urban society and the lifestyle they have. The Urban environment has always been a question of interest and often the city people are blamed for escaping from the difficulties of living in countryside. But is it really true?
Whether a city life is really deprived of problems, struggles and obstacles.
These stories are just an attempt by the author to portray the Urban lifestyle through its stories and characters and help the reader to evaluate it with a better lens.

Book - URBAN Chronicles
Writer - neeta bajoriya

It is like a comic book but it contains three interesting short stories of urban life. These stories reveals some difficulties of urban life. Stories are imaginary but inspired from real stories, as if you are in city life you can imagine that these things are going on near you also. Main concept is 'doubt' and basically doubt in female. How it comes, what it can reveal and can be dangerous also.
Book is interesting and feels like eyes as seen. Nicely written and presented that gives a pleasure to read.

Urban Chronicles is a comic book, and I thought it would be something funny, but it highlights various significant issues.

The story revolves around 3 women, describing their daily life routine. The way everything is narrated is very unique. I was surprised how a book of 50 pages could provide important messages and that too a comic book.

Now you all might be thinking, what messages I am talking about. For that, you need to grab this book and find out yourself.

The story felt a bit relatable as well. The character development is amazing and the illustrations are to the point. This book is recommended to all. I simply enjoyed it.

Urban Chronicles by Nita Bajoria is a graphic novel of which involves three women and incidents that happen in their daily lives. Here's the catch. These incidents are conveyed by facial expressions and body language of the graphics in the novel which personally for me was very exciting.
.
The graphics could use a little bit of improvement and as they are the most important part of the book they can be revisited.
.
Even though the graphics are raw The three stories which are Balcony,Smell and Mrs.Ramchandran not only interesting but also brings out the topic of marriage and the incidents that take place in urban spaces.
.
The characters could have been given a graph. Those who could not imagine the voices would have found it hard to fathom the emotion behind the dialogue.
.
The other characters were easy to identify the ones which were hard to recognise were the three main characters in every story.
.
The author explores the lives of both men and women in each of the stories but a finish was required for the stories to have the spark they originally have.
.
I really enjoyed the topic of all the stories as I could imagine the urban spaces tales that were given shape and form.
.
If the graphics are worked on this book has major scope of becoming a delightful read with the readers.
.
Urban Chronicles shouldn't be missed. It's title of stories and the stories are marvellous in terms of its humour and story development.

Book: Urban Chronicles
Author: Nita Bajoria
Publisher: The Great Indian Book Tour
Genre: Graphic Novel
Format: Paperback
Pages: 56
Rating: 5/5

This beautiful graphic novel is a collection of three stories which are setup in Urban area. The backdrop of all stories is urban area, though the plot and story line of each story is different. Author has very beautifully depicted the lifes of people living in Urban Cities. To be true, I loved all three stories and it would be difficult to pick one. Names of stories are ‘Balcony’, ‘Kushboo’ ,’Shri Mati Ramachandram’. I loved the book as a whole, thus I rated it 5.

The language is very easy and lucid. I really like the story –telling style of the author. A suspense binds the whole story till the end. Also, if observed carefully, there are some lessons hidden in each story. I enjoyed reading all three stories. Moreover, I appreciate that the protagonists of all three stories are females. This is highly appreciated.

The cover page is so beautiful and alluring depicting the protagonists of the three stories in the book. The title is very apt for the stories and background . I really appreciate the smooth quality of papers in the book. This book made me nostalgic all of a sudden and memories of childhood came rushing, the time when I used to read ‘champaks and comic books’. The drawings are so well sketched that they themselves are telling more than half of the story.

If you are looking forward to read a graphic novel containing short and interesting stories, you would love this book. I would love to read more graphic books from the author. Happy Reading!

🌙'Urban Chronicles' as the name suggests is about urban-ness and exploring life in a metro. This beautiful graphic novel is a collection of three stories which are setup in Urban area.

☘️Balcony
In this story, the landlady of the house is very curious about her neighbourhood, but at last turns to be happily ever after.

☘️Smell
Here a husband tries to tackle his suspecting wife.

☘️Mrs Ramachandran
This story is about a GBG aka Gossip Brewers Group , goes to an extent craving out the spicy secrets of the society, but lastly one of them realises its a bad idea to be involved.

🌙All the stories are imaginary but inspired from real stories. If you are in city life, you can relate to these stories.

🌙The Urban environment has always been a question of interest and often the city people are blamed for escaping from the difficulties of living in countryside.

⁉️But is it really true?
⁉️Whether a city life is really deprived of problems, struggles and obstacles?

🌙These stories are just an attempt by the author to portray the Urban lifestyle through its stories and characters and help the reader to evaluate it with a better vision.

🌙The book cover is attractive with three ladies and urban lifestyle background. It looks simple and the graphics inside are clear and beautiful. It is a short and light read with heavy message passed on. I completed the whole of it in a single sitting.

***This book is available in both Hindi and English, pick as per your choice and start reading.***

🍀 A convivial book is extremely stellar and meritorious. The book is bifurcating and dealt with diurnal and circadian issues and incidents we went through. There are times where discrepancies are at its pick and things started becoming complicated and onerous. The fallacy of self made opinion about others without even trying to know the whole truth often leads to insecurities, doubts, uneasiness and separation. These contemptuous misconceptions should be resolved with patience, faith and understanding. Pejorative of anything without fully knowing the circumference always pave way to unbidden situations. Without forming any kind of vilification, one should definitely parley the affairs. 🍀
.
🌻 And so is the theme of this beautiful book. Albeit, the author is a keen observer of quotidian issues, she engender in her enthralled work the need of understanding, humanity and kindness for the better survival of the beings. To be temperament doesn't cost anything but can definitely festoon up others aspirations and hope. 🌻
.
💟 First ever comic style book, I came across with. Surprisingly attractive and empowering, this one is really fun reading and that too with the enchanting beauty of the pictures. Highly recommended for all as this one is ravishing fun with values 💟
.
🤎 An addictive, pretty and relevant read.
Must read :) 🤎

The Graphics novels are something to which I can never say a no.
because it catches all the attention while reading.
So, here is the review of another graphic novel The urban chronicles
So, firstly let me epitomize the stories of this novel for you all.
There are three different stories about three different people all living in urban society.
The author has written about the events that take place in urban areas.
These are short but relevant and effective stories.
And this book is barely 30 pages.
The important message the author wants to convey through this book is the lifestyle of urban society where everyone is having there own unique experiences and life lessons.
The author's purpose is to entertain as well as dispatch a message to her readers.
The graphics in the book makes the stories more interesting, catchy and understandable.
This book is written in two languages i.e. Hindi and English.
And I have a Hindi translation.
The language Hindi used in the book is extremely simple so that anyone who knows Hindi well will understand the book and the concept behind it.
The book is a light read and gives a "desi" vibe.
I loved the book because of its graphics, illustrations, narration and stories.
Speaking about my favourite story from this book:
That is "balcony" the very first story.
I must say a must-read novel, you will surely appreciate it.

Urban Chronicles (Hindi) - Nita Bagoriya

My Perspective:
This was my first graphic novel of 2021 and the result is far better than what I expected. It’s always fun to read graphic novels and this had a different theme and storyline as well which made it more interesting.

About the Book:
The book cover is attractive with three ladies and urban lifestyle background. It looks simple and the graphics inside are clear and beautiful.

About the Story:
The story is about the lives of ladies living in metro cities and following urban lifestyle. It discusses the problems they face, the habits they have, and the way they lead their life. Their struggles and way of thinking are also explained in this book in a very impressive manner.

About the Author:
Nita Bajoria from Kolkata-the city of joy always had a burning desire to write and she used to at times but would never let them read. She was inspired by her mom’s writings from the diary she had with a maroon plastic. But, when she turned forty, she wanted to let the world know and read her writings and her journey as a published writer started with a write-up in Times of India. She doubted her book, ‘The leap’ followed by this graphic novel.

Urban Chronicle 1 is a well designed and illustrated book of short stories that explores the lives of people in the metro cities. It highlights their own struggles and hardships while also focussing on their good natured heart.

1. Balcony: observing and knowing people around is human nature. Accept the differences and embrace the journey of socializing as sometimes new friendships are just around the corner.
2. Smell: going through the dynamics of a relationship, insecurities surely occur. But it is important to understand them and talk them out before accusations.
3. Mrs. Ramchandran: life is never the same for all. Judgements and gossips can ruin someone's life that they have so tenderly built.

The author has sensitively put together the little tid bits of daily lives of people in urban areas. Their struggles, insecurities and even gossip groups might look interesting but don't help anyone.

I personally find these short stories based on a few instances actually valuable and realized a few lessons myself which are otherwise neglected.

A sweet and lovely one which holds some beautiful short stories in itself which are like comics but are much more to it.

The real life characters and stories which we can relate to and feel them. The stories give out the lessons which are really useful for us.

I personally didn't like the graphics that much but I loved the stories and the lessons they give us. Some characters were wonderfully crafted but I felt that at some places it could have been better. But it still had the power to keep me hooked till the end. So, overall I liked it.

It is a very light and sweet read in the form of a comic which won't let you get bored and will give u big lessons to cherish and keep with u for life. Kudos to the author for summing up so much in just 20 pages.

If you want to bring out the child without you out again and go for it. It felt like I was in those days again where I used to wait for Bal bhaskar to get delivered every month.

Recommend to all.

When we hear a word comic we all think of those books full of pictures and stories, right!!

Urban chronicles is also similar to a comic but it's an adult comic but with taking serious issues as a theme or topics of the story.

The book is in hindi and has 3 stories in which different women are portrayed with a strong character and point of view.
All the 3 stories are interesting and has a taste of urban lifestyle. The last story is a bit lengthy as compared to the first 2 but the message the stories convey worth it. The dialogues and the pictures are very well designed and presented. The dialogues are funny as well as effective depending on the situations.

The cover of the book itself reveal its theme of being a book of the 3 different women who are strong and powerful.

Although the book is not a childhood comic but the layout reminded me of my childhood when we used to read these types of books or just used to look at the pictures.

Here's the review of Urban Chronicles by Nita Bajoria.

Urban Chronicle series is a collection of graphic short stories. Unlike typical genres of a comic book, this series is one of its kind that explores life in a metro.
The book is a complete comical satire. One can simply resonate it with the human vices. It simply connects the readers to the characters illustrated in this book and each of them is a reflection of one's own self in some conditions or circumstances. The best thing is that each story has a moral and a lesson for all sections of the society to learn.
Really amazing book with very precise and near-reality account of various kind of people around us. Great illustration.I love the writing style of this book a lot. And the book cover is just perfect for the book.
Definitely gonna recommend this one.

Do you read books in your native language??? I rarely do but when I see a graphic novel in hindi, it brings back my childhood - the days when I happily wait for my copy of Champak and Chacha Chaudhary. Which one was your favourite???

Urban Chronicles is a hindi graphic novel containing three stories. These stories revolve around three women residing in urban India. The first story named "Balcony" is my favourite amongst all. It beautifully show how life can be collected back from scattered pieces and also to never lose hope.

The graphics are perfectly done; the expressions give life to the feelings in the story. A short quick read book with beautiful graphics and meaningful stories.

Back in my childhood days, I used to read comics when our family would travel between states during holiday seasons.

I feel nostalgic thinking about comics like Pinki, Cha cha Chowdhury and yes Champak.

Now after growing up, I do miss those feels. But lately I came across this chronical series.

Urban Chronicles is a hindi
comics/ graphic book with a couple of short stories. There is a belief that urban lifestyle is easier than rural lifestyle. But these stories flow across such groves that speak about how urban lives are full of complexities and human to human connection has a twisted messed up side here as well.

I liked reading these interesting stories full of colourful illustrations. Definitely an enjoyable experience.

I recently read "Urban Chronicles" by Nita Bajoria,a collection of three short stories but, hold on ! it's a graphic book.

Three stories talk about three women's metropolitan life. When I was reading the about author's part, I saw that she likes to write about relationship. In these stories I could see that. Not only relationship between husband wife but with other women and society .

The stories are heart warming and graphics did justice to the stories. It is a book one could finish reading within an hour.

I haven't come across many graphic novels or books by Indian authors for adults , I think this book should be given more attention too

This book was recommended by a friend who rarely reads a book. So, i had to read this one and i wasn't disappointed at all.
This book is a collection of short stories centered in the lives of urban household in a graphic form.
Characted are defined very nicely and stories have good flow to keep you hooked.
We do not see like this format normaly, which makes the experience different all together.
I suggest every one to give this not so general book a chance and i'm sure, you will not be disappointed.

What do you do when you are free? What's the thing that releases your stress? What's your favourite pass time?

To me, its always about book coffee rain and music. Everyone has their own idea to release out all the stress they are holding on. This book by author Neeta revolves around the same.

The book holds essence of champak, and those old comics we used to read in our childhood. It's beautiful. Based on Hindi language those comics really brings smile to your face. My favourite one is balcony out of the all three.

This book is worth reading.

Very simple easy and straight read

Family,Balcony and assumptions they are making towards the house in front of balcony.
This book shows the inner explicits of a family and women, how they react to neighbours and their house family and small things.
This book let's you travel inside and outside of their lives... A very simple and straight read.

Easy to read and relatable with our daily lives but the title says a lot in itself.

The life of cities is compared and written in a similar way
