Rate this book
Dorothy possesses three fears. Strangers, judgement, and liking boys who won't like her back.
When her insistent mother persuades her to fill a waitressing position at Uncle Ray's restaurant, Corner, Dot is forced to leave behind her cuddly cat Kramer and the safety of her room to confront an ever-present anxiety bound to all three of her fears.
Gradually, the faces of Corner begin to fill her emptiest spaces, until one particular night changes everything.
After an unforeseen attack, Dot rapidly loses herself in an all-consuming darkness. But the hands that reach to find her aren't those she would have expected, and Dot soon realises that sometimes the brightest lights are only a step away from the dark.

I so enjoyed this book! The story was so good and the characters were excellent. I especially loved the main character Dot. I saw a lot of myself in her and her character really resinated with me. This was exactly the story I needed to read right now and I will definitely be adding to my reread list.

I needed time away from this book to properly review it. The main character was Dot and reading in her perspective triggered some of my personal memories regarding my mental health before. This book made my feelings valid when I was in the lowest point of my life.

I advise everyone to this without expecting anything. It took me by surprise how beautiful it was written. It was poetic, emotional and simple. The symbols were the ones you should look out for.

Another aspect that I liked was the friendship and the romance. (though it was not merely a romance book)

Overall, I'm really glad that I was able to read it and somehow, make sense of my life decisions. It was a reminder for me that I was never alone.

"You can stay in the darkness, if you choose to, but that way you miss out on all the colour."
Sometimes life can get too overwhelming and Dot is no stranger to this feeling. How she copes with it is so completely natural. She shuts herself away from the world. From the outset of Corner I suspect it was going to break my heart just a little, and going through Dot's pain with her certainly was. However as Flo reminds her, there's a world of colour out there waiting to be experienced. The colour that Jesse, Flo and Darcy paint into Dot's life is beautiful. Moments to make you smile and laugh, and remind you while bad things may happen, life is not just made up of them.
"Nothing was trivial in the colour".

Corner is one of those books that you know is going to be special as soon as you pick it up. Who doesn't share Dot's fears of strangers, judgement and liking boys who won't like her back. She is such a real and relatable character that's impossible not to love. As Flo, Darcy and Jesse are introduced into the story they bring an authentic richness. They feel like people you could very easily meet, and definitely want to. Corner was both heartbreaking and heartmending. Hayley has woven a tale that was beautiful from cover to cover (and can I just point out how beautiful the cover is). For anyone who enjoys the works of authors like Sarah Dessen, I would definitely recommend Corner.

Dot had such a strong connection with me, I felt understood and hugged by her character, I felt like I am not alone. I haven't gone through the same things as her, but the feelings are so present some of the times in my life that it was somehow comforting reading about it. Comforting in a way that I felt being hugged by the words inside these pages.
I've adored all the characters, but I guess Jesse and Dot are my favorites! The author really knew how to make us know deeply even the side characters and I appreciated that so freaking much because they are unbelievable awesome and worthy of my love.
Also, the chapters where we get a POV from the other character were so open eyeing and thoughtfully, I just-I love it here! I love this book, that's it. I love hearing what are Dot's thoughts, I love seeing her overcoming her fears and being a work in progress. I adore her supportive parents and uncle! Gotta love this story and its touching words.

I adored this book! I was in a reading slump for over a month & I managed to read this in just a few days. I thoroughly enjoyed the characters & plot, as both were realistically portrayed & relatable. While the story involved serious topics like anxiety & a traumatic event, they were handled extremely well & the themes of hope, strength, vulnerability, & friendship shined throughout the story - which made it difficult to put down & immensely enjoyable! I highly recommend this book to others.

I absolutely loved the book. I think my favourite character would be Flo, I loved the way she supported Dot and went an extra mile for her. Very well written. Good job Hayley! I was able to relate to the story and it revived the days of us working together. Excellent!

If there is one book you need to read over the upcoming holidays. It is this book. I applaud Hayley in so many ways and genuinely give this book 5/5. I all but read it in one day it is THAT GOOD. I couldn’t put it down, I wanted to find out more, and more, and more.

The character development and plot structure, the balance of emotion and humour, the deeper underlying current of other issues and topics that find their way into the story. There’s just so much in this book but it’s been written in the perfect way.

This is a story that can be read over and again. I highly, highly recommend!!!!
