Piper Sullivan is an old school romantic who enjoys reading romantic stories as much as she enjoys writing them. She spends her time day-dreaming of dashing heroes and the feisty women they love.
A story that takes place in a small provincial town where everyone is butting in other people’s business. This is where Nina decides to settle down. She isn’t just an ordinary girl; as a matter of fact she’s a tomboy full of tattoos. When she decides to help her friend on a field trip with little girls she gets in deep trouble and is rescued by Preston, the son of a very known and rich family. Preston is the black sheep of his rich family because he made the decision for himself to live a simple life. As regards the main characters I actually preferred Preston because I felt that Nina as a character wasn’t very feminine even if there are around a lot of tomboys who are sexy and intriguing. She just didn’t capture my attention while Preston deserves all my compliments. A down to earth and sexy guy who falls in love with a woman who comes from a complete different environment. The story is nothing very articulate just like all the characters that surround Nina and Preston. Simplicity is the major theme of this cute read.
Hot Search and Rescue hero, small town, sexy male calendar, an injured heroine, cohabiting for a few days, a bit of a misunderstanding between MC's, sex. Check, check and check, everything I like in a story but it felt flat. So bored I stopped to research 'meatloaf sheppard's pie' that was mentioned in the book.
Between3-4 stars, but not really enough to round up. 3+ I liked it, but not really enough to bump it up to really liked it.
The Kindle edition I read was titled "Hero in my Bed." Cover model was blond and clean-shaven (which is how Preston is described, FYI)
Preston is a great H. Active and hot (of course) and self aware (what job makes him happy? what type of relationship?) and strong enough to stick to his convictions. Not a man-whore or overly alpha (though there are a few moments where he has to push it when dealing with Nina's stubbornness). I loved his banter with his friends too. Good banter in an H is always a plus for me.
Nina wasn't my favorite h, though. She's a "tough girl outcast" sort of character, but she still fell sort of flat for me. Also, while I'm glad that she did try to talk to him as an adult when their relationship started changing, the fact that she tried to cold-shoulder him in the first place and then dropped him so fast afterwards... a little immature for my taste. If I could have expanded anything in the book, it would have been Nina's character development. Yes, she's had a lot of stress in her life, but she was well-loved until her uncle passed, right? So is it THAT out of the realm of possibility that people could want her as a friend (or more, in Preston's case)? Also, if she didn't want people all up in her business, why on earth did she move to a small town???
Pretty basic plot overall. The 'oppostites attract' recipe. Preston's the town golden boy (an oft-repeated description), with a touch of fire & rescue. Nina, while not a "bad girl," is definitely from an opposite upbringing. Pretty straightforward and simple, really - not tons of angst or unique twists on the trope. Not necessarily an author or series that is now lodged at the top of my To-Read list, but it was sweet, fun, and straightforward with some enjoyable characters. It's an enjoyable bit of escapism, and I'd've loved to have it developed a little more (escpecially some of the charactes) - the flip side to being such a quick read, I suppose. As it is, it's a very quick read, though might be a bit fast-paced for some.
Alternating 1st person POV. Most of the OW drama was from Preston's mother, and it wasn't an overwhelmingly major plot issue - no stupid Mean Girl antics or love triangle drama. Just enough for Nina to have some angsty moments and push the plot along. No overwhelming angst or completely immature lack of communication issues (though Nina does push it at one point). As you can see, my most common adjectives here seem to have been "simple," "straightforward," and "fun." So, take that for what it's worth! HEA and no cliffhangers (though a few characters and plot threads introduced for future books in the series).
Would I read more in the series? Definitely yes. I can always use another good "escapism" series of reads on my Kindle.
Nina just moved to Tulip, Texas from the St. Louis area. She stands out in Tulip, but loves the small town. She is the bartender and tries to stay under the radar, even with tattoos, piercings and a sassy attitude!! But you are asked to help out the Tulip Troops, she has to go, she is a softy. But when things happen and she gets noticed and rescued by the "Golden Boy", will she accept help from him?
Preston is on duty when he gets the call about the Tulip Troops, he rushes over to save a trooper and Nina from the flood waters, but when her ankle is broken and needs a boot, but can't get around on her own, of course, he takes her to his house to recuperate. But when the town talks and Preston realizes he wants more of Nina in more ways, will they accept this? Can he convince Nina that his love is real? Or will his mother get involved and stop everything?
This is cute story of opposites attracting in the best ways possible!! It has some drama, a stubborn wonderful woman and an equally stubborn man that make it look easy!! This is a great way to introduce us to Tulip and the Hometown Heroes and that wonderful calendar!!! I received an ARC of this book from the author.
Never seen someone so stubborn I loved the characters of this romance: Nina has nothing to lose, has always taken care of herself and she is stubborn to the extreme. But she meets Preston, a rescuer who saves her from a flooded river while she herself was trying to save a child. Injured, he shelters her and he finds himself intrigued and then subjugated by this woman who, in order to protect herself, tries to refuse any help. But the city in which she settled does not hear it that way, and neither is Preston. The story is in part simple, but the relationships of all the characters between them and the dialogues are excellent. I loved discovering how Nina seeks not to be obnoxious, but to discourage everyone from being close to her. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
I always a small-town romance, it's so fun, sweet, warm and easy to read, and this one is not an exception. A sexy small-town hero and an independent feisty heroine, oh yeah I love this mix. They're so adorable together and let's not forget all those fun characters, all the banter and camaraderie always put a big smile on my face. It might a bit too fast for me, everything felt like fast forward, I missed the sparks between Preston and Nina, there's love and steaminess, but I want those butterflies in my stomach, but I still love their sweetness.
If you're looking for a fun sweet read, this book is for you.
I received a review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I got the last three books in this series in boxset for a teal of 99p so I figured I'd invest in the first of the series too.
I enjoyed this one, I was in the mood for a light romance and that's exactly what I got for my money. Its short and sweet with enough angst and self loathing to make me cringe, but it was cute and although the ending was slightly rushed I enjoyed it.
I however was not a fan of the epilogue since it was basically there simply to introduce Ry and Penny's relationship for the next book - I'm assuming... BUT I am intrigued enough to pick up the next book in the series soon :)
One thing that really annoys me about this book is that for me the word Savior is spelt wrong... For me it should be Saviour 😅

“Mr. Savior” is a fun, sexy, romantic, smooth flowing story. Preston is the handsome, wealthy black sheep of the family. He rebels against his mothers demands and and works for Search and Rescue instead of entering the family business. He also refuses to marry anyone that his mother sets him up with. Nina is the total opposite of Preston. She is a beautiful bartender, with a sassy, sarcastic personality and countless tatoos. Despite their differences the chemistry between them is blistering. How Preston and Nina overcome the obstacles to arrive at their HEA is a captivating read. “Mr. Savior” is definite winner. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Sarcastic, tatted bartender Nina is the perfect girl for hunky S&R member Preston, she just doesn’t know it yet. Disowned from his snooty mother, he’s not about to be tied to some plastic debutant for the rest of his life. But he’s more than willing to be tied, at least for a while, to Nina. These two are fun and fiery, setting the small town of Tulip on its ear with their sizzling chemistry. They are the perfect couple to introduce the reader to this new small town romance series. Great dialogue, just enough drama to be interesting without too much angst and engaging secondary characters...you’ll enjoy Mr. Savior as much as I did!
I loved this story and had a lot of fun with the characters. Nina is a bartender and when she helps rescue a child and hurts herself, Preston quickly volunteers to help her as well. They begin to share Preston's house and the attraction between them is immediate, but are they willing to invest in the feelings that arise? I kept expecting Preston's mom to come out and spoil everything, and what wasn't my surprise when she almost got what she wanted. I loved the main characters and the secondary characters as well. I'm anxious to read more about the residents of this small town and the calendar. I recommend the reading.
Preston and Nina makes this story worth reading. Nina is talked into a camp out with little ones and wouldn't you know it rains causing a flash flood and she has to find a missing child to boot! Preston is called in and his first encounter with Nina is a sarcastic dialog but the chemistry between them is mounting. Preston comes from a family of means with a mother that tries to call the shots in is life but he ignores her and does his own thing anyway. As he and Nina get closer, it is a matter of time before his mother brings things to a head. Will it become a battle of wits between Nina and Sabrina Worthington? I voluntarily agreed to receive an ARC of this book for an honest review.
This small town romance was flirty and fun. I loved Preston and Nina. Preston was such a great guy and Nina was so sassy. Their banter was witty and I loved how determined Preston was in his wooing of Nina. These two had such wonderful chemistry and they very quickly had me fully invested in them getting their HEA. There is a bit of drama, some emotional turmoil and plenty of humor as the story unfolds. With an intriguing cast of secondary characters, I am hoping for many more enjoyable entries in this series. All thought and opinions in this review are my own.
This story is golden. Chock filled with steamy scenes, laughter, and fun. Preston is and Nina make a fantastic couple. She hides her insecurities behind her fiery wit and sarcastic banter. He is stubborn and determined to win the battle to get all her secrets. The people of the town are charming and a little nutty but make the story so much more alive. It is an easygoing read that will make you laugh out loud and want to know what will happen to all the supporting characters in the future. Well done!
When I first started reading the book, I thought this is going to be one heck of a read. You have a strong, sexy man who saves people and you have a young, sexy woman who is independent and fierce. What a mix those would be, right?? To me, the book fell a little flat unfortunately. I was hoping for more chemistry that's what the story gave us. Now having said that, just because I didn't connect with this book doesn't mean that you won't. Please read all of the reviews as well as the authors synopsis to see if this book is the one for you.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book Oh Nina, you thought camping would be easy, never thought you would have an accident and meet the hottest, sexiest man ever fro Search and Rescue...Preston. Problem is, he’s rich, handsome and all the women want him. Why would he be interested in her, but oh boy is he. Nina is feisty and stubborn but Preston doesn’t give up. A brilliant story which kept my interest all the way through. Made me laugh, wanted to hug Nina at times but best friends were so supportive as well. Loved it
Preston and Nina couldn’t be any more different from each other than the moon and stars and yet are exactly what each other needs. Preston is a trust fund child who has no interest in following his family’s instructions for his future and Nina is a woman who has built so many walls around herself due to her family’s constant abandonment. With Nina’s insecurities and Preston’s over-bearing mother lurking in the shadows can these two truly find happiness?
Nina is a badass with a heart of gold.... I love her so much. Piper Sullivan has written a strong realistic heroine. Every thing in her life isn't happy and all set. It's beautifully refreshing to read her strong heroines. And she tops them off with hunky, swoon worthy hero's. Perston is delicious read. Hot rescue worker, down to earth, who gets mad at people putting themselves in unnecessary danger... swoon. Oh and the small town Tulip they live in is a character all on it's own.
Preston and Nina come from completely different social backgrounds. Preston if from a wealthy family and has lived in Tullip nearly his whole life. Nina is an orphan who has always had to look out for herself, she is strong and fiercely independent. However when these two get thrust together they cannot deny the chemistry. Their story is passionate and steamy and full of wit and sass. Their friends are all great characters as well and I would love to read more of their stories.
What is not to love about these two. The quirky, feisty Nina rescued by the super hot Preston, an SAR worker. He insisted on taking care of her as her ankle healed despite Nina's resistance. Inevitably they succumbed to the chemistry between them as Nina tries to sign up the hot men of the town for a fundraising calendar. This created some real humour in the story. Great read. Read an ARC for an honest review.
Great small town romance, with a side of hot rescue worker. Nina moved to the small town almost a year before. She's a bartender as well as a sucker and gets roped into volunteering. Worthington is the local golden boy, rich, but chose a career in search and rescue, rather than following the family line of lawyers. They meet when he rescues her, along with a little girl she tried to save from a flood. The sarcasm turns to chemistry.
What a good start to a new series. The writing is great, the characters funny and likeable, small town life, family dynamics and issues...I really enjoyed reading about Preston and Nina, so much so that I missed my meal time! I'm very much looking forward to reading the next in the series. I am voluntarily leaving this honest review after receiving an ARC.
4* Preston is from a wealthy family but hasn’t followed his mothers expectations finding a career in search and rescue. Nina moved to a new area and has no family, her new friend Maxine persuaded her to help with a camping trip. The two meet when he helps with a rescue she started. She’s not used to accepting help, can he convince her? I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
Two opposites attract. Nina had to learn to be independent to survive. Shes tough and sarcastic but good hearted. Preston is the towns golden boy. He’s gone against what is expected of him and becomes a search and rescue person. He’s an all around great guy. Against all odds their chemistry is on fire. Great story
This is the type of story I love to read from this author. The characters were realistic as was the plot-line. The chemistry between Preston and Nina was undeniable. Once I started reading, I was hooked. Like I said...wonderful story.
*I received an Advance Reader's Copy of this book which I am voluntarily reviewing*
I really liked Nina and Preston’s story, they had great chemistry and are both great characters. Preston is the black sheep of his wealthy family going out on his own and working for search and rescue. Nina is a bartender and not at all what Preston’s mother wants for his son. What will happen when sparks fly? Fast-paced read, loads of drama and oh so steamy. A good read.
Nina & Preston may be complete opposites of each other but there chemistry is off the charts! Preston recues Nina from a flash flood & as they say the rest is history. He comes to help her out of the hospital & takes her to his house to start her recovery even though she objects constantly because she doesn’t want the help. I loved this story & cant wait to read more hometown heros!
Preston is the first of the Hometown Heroes calendar guys. He’s a trust fund guy who chose a life of service as an EMT rather than one has part of the family business. Nina would seem to be his polar opposite—a former foster care kid who tends bar and has tattoos. But you know what they say—about opposites...And they most smolderingly do in this case.
