Part 2: The Serpent’s Shadow Shapeshifter Lacey Bostick is absolutely thrilled when local boy Silas Beardley brings a jade serpent’s head brooch into the antique shop. Fun, fun, fun...every book just kept getting you absorbed into these characters
This series of books left me laughing and wondering where Westlake would take her characters. I didn't want to put it down at the end of the night, anxious to pick it up again. Everyone of Sofia Westlake's series has left me wanting the next one.
Book had some typos and errors throughout the chapters. Hated the main character Clara. She was pretty much a sour unhappy person throughout the book till the end. Totally ruined it for me.
I like this book because it has both paranormal shapeshifter, witches, otherworldy beings like the fae. Clara and Lacey own the antique store known as Vaguely Vintage, powerful witches, and Cat shifters. A series that feels like a soap opera with characters being added with their quirky lives and beliefs.
The first story in the series is about The Bride Who Wore Something Old, which introduces a blood hex old necklace along with the cast of characters a good witches versus evil witches. A blood curse steals souls. Alice is an employee at the store meets Joe, a pastor of a local church. Will Joe and Alice be able to find love between two diverse beliefs?
The Serpent's Shadow is about a man who bring this hex pin that was his inheritance from his grandma. Lacey is task to retrieve the pin from a professor who's looking into it for the store. Silas take suit to meet the professor because he all of a sudden was having very bad luck and getting himself hurt. Will this couple be able to good luck and retrieve the pin safely? Will are Lacey and Silas fall in love?
In One Man's Trash a customer brings six antique dolls to the store that are hex and found in a box on the curbside for trash pickup. The previous owner Archie just threw them out and Dalphne pick them up because she loves dolls. She's trying to get her online doll store started. Will Daphne and Archie's attraction to each other be love? Are the dolls truly hex?
The Story of Vintage is about the store receiving a box of books from up former customer who died. One of the employees is a book evaluator and half Fae. The school also receive a box of books from this customer which was written in Fae language. Emily is sent to evaluate this box of books and realize that she is attracted to Wade, the math and science teacher who doesn't believe in witches. One of the book is causing mischief by the want-to-be-a-witch principal. Will Emily and Wade prevent this mischief, protect the children, and fall in love?
In All That Glitter the story of Clara continues throughout the series. Clara is the one of the owner of the store, cat shifter, and a witch. She has secretly been in love with Sawyer, unfortunately he has a baby mama who she hates. She tells him that he was hex. Will she finally realized that she is in love with Sawyer and doesn't have the Bostick Curse, to never fall in love?
Another common thread throughout the series is the Sisters of Light, evil witches determined to stamp out the good witches of Twisted Rock. I could not put down this series until I read all the books. It was like watching a soap opera that one enjoyed very much. I highly recommend this series for an enjoyable and fascinating read about the Paranormal genre. If the author should write another series of a similar but different nature I would surely buy it.
Why in tarnation does all the stories begin and end with Clara Bostick's POV, even when it's not her story? Trust me, there's nothing special about the ice princess who's supposed to be a powerful witch, and she's certainly not willing to help the other witches find their mates. Nor was she that involved with the other characters and their hex problems that brought the mates to what she felt was her store when in actuality, she's part owner with her sister, who she treats like the help. Maybe Clara was supposed to play a major part in everyone's lives, like a magical matriarch. Well, she'd have to be around enough to be a really strong supporting character like that and her magical abilities not fail every time she uses them. Worse, she clashed more with people and her sister than helped anyone, including herself when she was present that is. Shouldn't she be more involved in the stories if she begins and ends each one like the real H and h's should, who are kicked to the side of their own story btw? And yes, we got it that Clara is denying herself a witch mate because supposedly, she's cursed and hers is a womanizing putz. Seriously, this is what begins and ends each story in this series every time? It's not suspense-building, it's repetition, weird, and irritating. (Facepalm) Westlake is way more creative than this as an author.
This was sooo not the shifter series I thought I would be reading when I bought it. I almost closed the book and moved on to another one because I just couldn’t get into it initially. That’s not to say it wasn’t enjoyable because it was but the shifting was kind of secondary and not as up front, in your face as most shifter romances as. There was definitely a lot going on in Twisted Rock and it eventually grabbed my attention just because I needed to see some kind of resolution for Clara and Sawyer.
I read the entire series. The characters are well rounded. I liked that. It doesn't leave you hanging like some stories. There was lots of twists and turns to keep you reading. The ending put everything together nicely. I would recommend this series to anyone. There are a few bedroom scenes so parents beware.
Twisted Rock has a lot of paranormal activity. A necklace that chokes people. A doll that influences. The main characters of women are witches. There are the helpful witches and a group of women who are studying black magic and they cause quite a lot of trouble. And as the good witches are always trying to help everyone they find their mates.
Engrossing mixture of the supernatural and soap opera. The books share a central plot but each focuses on a different couple. Considerable suspense and humor. Will look for similar books by this author.
Can people be witches when they aren't? Can witches be shapeshifters? Can humans become shapeshifters? Read this great story with wonderful characters to find all the answers.
From the first page to the very end its a on the edge of your seat read from the persons who are trying to understand what is happening to the ones causing the problem. Looking forward to other works by this author.
These books were amazing truly get you involved and they good and bad of any situation, intriguing romance, every page worth reading and over and over again enjoyed immensely
I liked the characters and the story plot lines. Each had a different slant but with repeating characters. I do feel the depth of the paranormal was lacking.
