New powers. New worlds. New enemies. A threat looms on the horizon in the form of a super with unthinkable power.
Corbin’s world is changing faster than he can keep up with. Luckily, he has Seena by his side. Even better, she has a few new tricks up her sleeve.
Freedom comes at a cost.
The VRC has a revolution to deal with. Corbin and Seena must gain the help of the most influential person in the VRC while ensuring no one finds out where they got their powers. Also, who is this representative from the Citadel?
Join the rebellion, and pick up Supers: Take Aim, the second book in the Rise Up series.
I do the lack of clparity. When you say books 2 of 2 I expect it to be concluded by end of 2. Sorry I do not like to read series that aren't finished. Where is case he is a nice guy. Anyway. I'm reserving my thoughts on the series. But in all fairness, these a super well written exciting books. They are great. Fantastic reads. I'm just mad because you are making me wait. How spoiled is that. Yaaah
I enjoyed this book, but it wasn't as strong as the first novel and it lost a lot of momentum. That being said, it was still a quick, fun read and I like the direction it's heading in, so I have high hopes for the next instalment.
Lost interest at about the 60% mark. The main character is a bit overpowered for my taste and there are increasingly unbelievable reasons for him to struggle in fights. Too many eye-roll moments.
*spoiler alert*The MCs are Corbin, a space Marine and Seena, who's the daughter of William, a global IT corporation's CEO and her missing Mom, Gwen, presumed dead.Though she's actually been cloned into Tis(iphone, one of the 3 Fates of myth), with enhanced powers and armor like Seena's, courtesy of her husband's firm.Tis is trying to re-activate a gigantic entity, called Colossus,(enhanced by and able to absorb the powers from all whom it comes into contact with) in Charles Case and Justin Sloan's amazing military/space futuristic fantasy, Supers: Take Aim.Tis incredible novel sees Corbin, who has rescued a psychic supernatural 2-tailed alien fox - Leela - who supports him, while Seena has an enhanced AI-powered suit of armor that she calls Gert. Leela gradually teaches the pair to share their powers and Corbin is also given a Gert-like suit of enhanced armor for himself, with a falcon symbol etched on the front. Can Corbin,Seena,Leela and Gert stop Tis - allied with evil aliens the Kubla, who have invaded Leela's home planet Cinder?. She leads an army of stone golems who attack and destroy all in their way - but they haven't met Seena and Corbin and their team, who are en route to wipe this threat to humanity from the face of the Universe yet! Spoiled slightly for me, by a sudden cliff-hanger ending, but great up to that point, Super Take Aim by Justin Sloan and Charles Case will keep you on the edge of your seat through to the very end - grab your copy today!
Really enjoying the story so far, it does seem to connect with some of Jamie Hawkes (aka Justin Sloan) “Ex-Supers/Gods” universe with the mention of the ‘Citadel’ which is heavily involved in those books, not really any major issues which you read first as far as I can tell so far. This book escalates quickly from the first book, and from the current point of the story it would seem it needs only one more book to complete the current story arc. Will read the next book when it comes out as I really like the characters and I want to know what happens.
Good second book. The heroes are slowly gaining more abilities and becoming stronger. The main storey arc is revealed somewhat but I think there is a bigger threat. The biggest problem I have is that the story is always crisis mode. No rest and no grind time. I assume this is a popular plot but not with me. Not everything has to be the end on the universe all the time. Still i look forward to the next installment.
This book has adventure, including at least a little bit of each of the following: intrigue, rebellion, multiple aliens, family drama, potential end of the universe, and romance.
At the end, apparently on a scale of one to ten, they’ve reached “rotten brussels sprouts”. I’m ready for book 3 now.
