Three intriguing, suspenseful stories of World War II
My favorite was the first story, "The Red Rooster". Gabriella (Gabby) was looking for her father who was arrested by the Gestapo, Colonel Hoekman. She did not know who to trust. She moved in with Major Osterman and became friends with Helmut von Cratz, a business man. This book was fast-paced and action-packed with surprises along the way. "Blood of Vipers" is about an American pilot, Cal Jameson, shot down behind enemy lines, and his journey to return to the American lines. He came across Russian soldiers who were ruthless to the Germans they found. He tried to keep his distance from them as much as possible. He found a woman and man who were being attacked by the Russians and helped them. He walked with the family towards the American lines with the Russians close behind. They ended up in an underground storage with several women and children along with German soldiers who surrendered to him. This story was exciting and suspenseful. The last story, "Wolf Hook" was about a theatre group traveling in Germany, Holland, and Italy. Some of the actors were spies for the British and another for the Germans SS. Jim Heydrich was the nephew of Reinhard Heydrich, an AS officer known as The Butcher of Prague and The Hangman. Jim was trying to find a way out of Europe because he did not want to work with his uncle. This book was fast-paced,action-packed, and suspenseful. Michael Wallace knows how to keep your attention to see what will happen next. Three great reads. Enjoy them ! 😊
