Masks Are Not Enough

Rate this book
Marcel Herms’ artwork is like a lucid psilocybin dream vivid enough to linger in your frontal cortex days after being consumed by the retinas. Imagine psychological ink splotches being brought alive by Dr. Frankenstein and running rampant. Complexity becomes impossibly simplified, and the depth of matter bleeds abstract madness all over the canvas. Herms has brought an amazing spark of momentum into Alien Buddha Press’ arsenal since his initial collaborations in early 2018. Marcel has done cover art for “Deathbed Colored Glasses” by Rob Plath, “My Reality” by Matt Borczon, “Figures From the Undergrowth” by Donald Armfield, “God's Breath” by Stefan Bohdan, “Some Little Epigrams, aphorisms, exophony” by R. Keith, “The Northern Sunset” by Steven Storrie, “Words Whispered and Screamed Over the Waters of the Great Lakes” by Jeremy Stolz, and “Duffy Street & Other Dubious Incidents” by (yours truly) Red Focks. Marcel also collaborated with Paul Brookes on “Port of Souls”, the first full-length response to Herms’ art, with visuals filling the interior. In Masks Are Not Enough, ten different writers from the ABP network will poetically respond to ten different masterpieces from Herms. Thank you for picking up a copy of this experimental title. Alien Buddha Press truly hopes you enjoy reading it as much as we did putting it together for you. - Red Focks, Alien Buddha Press co-founder
