Chip is a vampire.
And he's a genuinely nice guy who works at a convenience store cleaning up the messes made by the small town drunks when they wander in for more beer...or a Slurpee.
But he's kinda lonely and wishes things were a little more like they were when he was just a kid back in the '30s.

description

So when a slick big-city vampire rolls into town asking Chip for his support in a takeover bid that will bring things back to the good old days? Well, at first, it sounds like a dream come true!

description

Unfortunately for this new group of vampires, Chip spent enough time fighting Nazis in WWII to recognize them in their new incarnation. And while he's disillusioned with a lot of things he can't understand or relate to, he's sure as shit not signing up for that nonsense.

description

I loved Chip! He's like a hippie grandpa with a good heart that can't really help being old-fashioned but still manages to try to understand the kids these days.
When I grow old up, I want to be like that.
This is one of those surprising stories that show how actions speak louder than words and sometimes even the crustiest rednecks end up having a grudgingly shiny heart of gold.

Highly Recommended!

What's worse than Vampires? Nazi vampires!

This was actually pretty fun story. We have our main hero, Charles Chip, just trying to live out his vampire days in a small backwoods type town. However, when other vampires come into his territory, he begins to question if he should leave. Then they turn out to be Nazi Vampires and chip fucking HATES Nazi pieces of shit. So begins the mission to hunt each and every one of them and kill them all before they spread.

I really enjoyed the cast here. Chip is likeable, his backstory emotional, and his fight against Nazi pieces of shit is always good. I also enjoyed most of the side cast, and it is Seeley, so we do get some funny moments. The art is strong and there's plenty of great fight scenes and deaths. I thought the ending was kind of eh though if I'm being honest. But overall good old Nazi killing vampire story. A 3.5 out of 5, I'll bump it to a 4.

Really interesting mash-up of social commentary with vampires. Also with vampire politics.

This is a pretty solid urban horror/fantasy that still maintains a bit of humor.

It was a fun read, picked up this trade while I was at C2E2 this year and finally got around to finishing it. If you don't want to think about politics probably don't read it but if you're not overly sensitive to other people's opinions there is some good stuff to be had here. My only big complaint is I wish the interior art was as cool as the cover.

I very much enjoyed this! It’s a fantastic concept. The exploration of disenfranchised people living on the fringes... the overlap and differences with ideologies like nazism... there’s intriguing stuff to think about amidst a well-illustrated comic book full of vampires. I loved the art and coloring here. Really great storytelling chops on display.

Sort of shocking that no one has thought to do a modern vampire story about a vampire American WW2 veteran who kills vampire Nazis. So much fun, but also with some interesting complexity about old times and new in there that I enjoyed. But also look, I'm never going to object to a full page bloody vampire flight where the character yells 'I'm gonna kill Nazis like a good American'. Good stuff!

Man, another great title from @aftershockcomics! I’ve just recently gotten into their stuff and they’re killing it! Picked this one up on a whim and I’m so glad I did.

I love a good vampire story, and this one does not disappoint. It’s clever, fast-paced, and outrageously violent. Our main vamp Chip spends much of the story trying to save his girlfriend Evie and killing vampires in various creatively vicious ways (one of my favorites is stuffed swordfish to the skull). The story is also playing with layers of social commentary, and though some of its satirical I still got a little lost in the message (at least we can all agree racist nazi vampires are the absolute worst). Overall it was a fun ride, and I’m very much looking forward to the next volume!

Rednecks and Nazi vampires. Need I say more? This is definitely the start of a great series.
