A sweet and steamy rockstar romance...

"Valentines Day can go suck a dick!"

It's Valentines Day and Ella Andrews is in her best 'bring him to his knees' dress, ready to ride her boyfriend's train all the way to Funky Town. Only... her train has already left the station and is currently 'choo-choo-ing' in someone else's love tunnel.

So, with her best friend in tow, she heads out on the town, determined not to wallow over, just another asshole. She pledges to remain a single pringle, but that's before she falls head over heels (literally) for a sexy Irish musician named Cian Mulligan.

Cian's completely entranced by the beautiful girl in the red dress. Using his sexy as sin smile, and tattooed covered arms, he convinces Ella to spend the night in his hotel bed; only to wake up the next day and find her gone. Six years pass before the pair meets again.

Is it luck? Or divine intervention?

The first line is one of the best I've ever read in a novel. "Valentine's Day can go suck a dick"? Well played, Shauna.

Could I love Cian more? I honestly don't think so. He's everything you could want in a rockstar romance hero and more.

I especially loved their first meeting. "Holy mother of all orgasms" has got to be one of the finest ways of saying hello.

Above all, this was FUN to read. I love Shauna's work and I reread this in preparation for her new release. Genuinely can't wait.

Shauna Mc Donnell is a brand new author to me and as this is her debut novel, I was excited to give this book a read as I love discovering new authors. I was drawn in by the fact that this was partly to do with Ireland and also because the blurb was intriguing to me and honestly, after giving this book a read I was impressed.
The story was pretty gripping so even if you wanted to put it down for a moment to do something, you couldn’t help but want to get back into reading and seeing what was about to happen next, I love that Shauna managed to find a way to grip her audience as I know that when show your work to the public for the first time the nerves are just overwhelming. I enjoyed the story, enjoyed the characters and found the plot fairly simple but for me that worked perfectly. I had a feeling before I even got to the end of the first chapter that this book had a lot of potential and Shauna gave the story character. Now whilst I enjoyed the story and didn’t have any issues following along or keeping up with the plot, I do have to say that for me (I’m sure that people will either agree with me or they’ll have their own opinion), but I did think that the story moved along quite quickly. When I’m reading a book I prefer to have a little more to latch onto so that I can get a feel of what the characters are experiencing, and whilst that was the case at times I did find that some of the things were a little too farfetched. Yet at the same time I did see how some of the events or experiences were realistic.
I am looking forward to seeing what else Shauna can come up with because her ideas are interesting and that was the case with this book. She knows how to draw you in, but honestly I do think that with each book she writes she will progress.

Valentines day is the one day that some people dread (well, that is if you’re single), but for most people who are in a happy place with their perfect someone it can be a romantic occasion and that’s what Ella thought as she was happy with life and in her eyes she had found the perfect guy…. But everything got turned upside down when she walked into her boyfriend’s apartment and saw him cheating on her. So after ending it and walking away, the perfect thing to help take her mind of it all is to go out drinking with her best friend. She’s dressed to impress, so when the opportunity arises to spend the night with a handsome musician little does she realise that everything is set to change in her path, no one could predict what is about to happen but one perfect night turns into something she’ll never forget.

What an amazing and addicting story!!!! I'm so glad I gave this debut novel a go!

This is a book that will captivate you quickly and you won't be able to put it down until you get to the very end of this sweet love story. I loved every single line of it and I can't believe this is Shauna's debut novel. Where was this girl hiding??? We badly need her to come out of that hiding hole and show us all her talent, she is truly amazing. I'm so excited and looking forward to all her other books in this series and beyond.

"Luck" is a wonderfully told story, it's quick-paced, but with enough details to fall in love with those characters and plenty of emotions to feel their pain and heartache. Totally lovable protagonists that stayed true to themselves throughout the book and not even once I felt that their personalities were imposed on to suit the plot, which I come very annoying in the books and it's my biggest downturn.

We have a strong and independent heroine that will not take anyone's shit and will do everything to protect her family and a famous, but down to earth rockstar. The flames and chemistry go off the moment they lay eyes on each other, but life is not always a bed of roses and their ways go apart.

This story has so many funny bits which were a perfect contrast to an emotional and angsty side of this swoony tale. I really enjoyed Shauna's writing style, it was easy to read, nicely flowing sentences and all those soundtracks at the beginning of each chapter truly captivated me from the first pages.

Adorable and beautiful, what a way to start the series, Shauna! Can't wait for you to bring us more of those badass rockstars ;-)

Who doesn't love an Irish rockstar with a heart of gold? Cian is the perfect guy, he's talented and sweet and sexy and he falls for Ella after a one night stand. She runs away in the morning and with him leaving for tour, he loses her. When they reunite after six years and Cian discovers a surprise, he's determined not to let Ella slip through his fingers again.
The story was cute and I liked the chemistry between Cian and Ella. The Irish names were cool, but having all the guys with C names was confusing. I especially liked Cian and Croi's relationship, it's so sweet and made me smile. The plot wasn't overly complicated, but I enjoyed the straightforward romance and the romance scenes were well done.

I'm looking forward to reading book two and finding out about Rosie!

I went into this book knowing nothing other than it was a rockstar romance.
I didn’t read the blurb.
I didn’t read any spoilers, so I had no idea what to expect.
But, oh my god, was this book right up my street!
It was fast-paced, angsty, heart breaking, steamy... it has everything that I enjoy in a romance novel.
You could feel the love between the main characters with every word written. Their struggles, their inner thoughts, it was all very, very good.
I’m not gonna lie, I even teared up towards the end because of the emotion portrayed by the author.
And even the supporting characters were awesome.
I can’t wait to read more from Shauna.
Five big, juicy stars!

Such a beautiful story! Love the characters and how they deal with all the situations they have to face. The songs are so beautifully written, they are so full of passion, love and heartache, and give the story the touch it needs. This is a great book, one of those, you can stop reading once you begin. Love Ella, she is a truly strong female lead.

Loved it.

This story had everything. Hot Irish musicians, feisty women who support each other, a really cute kid, and a love story to make your heart melt.

I’m in love with shauna’s words. Her writing is like poetry, but she made me laugh too. I can’t wait to read Cillian & Rosie’s story next. A fab read that I highly recommend!

Cian tells her that he had not idea but that he is going to find out who is the responsible for this.
Cian spends time with his son Croi and realizes that he wants to have his family by his side, so he convinces Ella to go to Ireland with him for her little sister wedding. There they discover the culprit of keeping the identity of Croi hidden, and they confront the press that are determined to destroy Ella, doubting the about who is really Croi’s dad. All of this will make the relationship have serious problems but Cian will not give up easily and will do whatever it takes for her and Croi are with him forever.
❤️❤️❤️❤️this series.

Right here. Right now. I know I could kiss Ella forever. I've never really been one for kissing. It's too personal, too intimate, but with Ella, it feels different, necessary. I’m overwhelmed by how strong my feelings are for her, how intense just kissing her feels. For the first time in my life, I want to slow down, cherish her, savour her, feel every moment, and let it consume me. Every taste of her leaves me wanting more. Each stroke, every brush of our tongues I commit into my memory, so I never have to forget these feelings she invokes in me. Ella is like a drug. One I can already feel myself getting addicted to.

"Maybe down the line, when you're ready, you might want to move there with me. I don't know how to say this to you without sounding too forward, but I want it all. You. Croí. Us. We're a family. There was never a doubt in my mind you were the one for me; from the moment I saw you, my heart was yours, and it always will be. Meeting you the first time was pure luck. The second time was divine intervention. We were meant to find each other. We were written in the stars. Call it whatever you want. Fight me if you feel you must, but I'm letting you know here and now, I am not going anywhere. I want you in my life, both of you. For now, and always. I'm all in, Ella. Mó chroí agus m’anam. My heart and my soul," he finishes by placing a small chaste kiss on my forehead.

A love story about a boy who fell in love with a girl at first sight. That, unfortunately, someone kept them apart, but with a bit of luck and a whole lot of love, they managed to find their way back together.

Highly Recommended

Thanks to my dear friend at Kara's Books who knows my style so well, I immediately purchased and dove in. You know who you are and you were 100% correct I'm in love with 4Clover and crew. The band alone 💗.

Outstanding, main characters Ella and Cian. The balance in strength was remarkable, I love a strong heroine, Ella is just that here. One encounters a little dip into the band members and some family as well, the usual secondary characters. Croi (Cree pronunciation I believe) adorable.

Accountability, the beginning of it is brilliantly written with a little tease that concludes in book 2, Rosie and Cillian's story. Even Cian's mom was written with great strength. I love the message here, should someone young read this, a female, Ella was perfectly written, she did the right thing from when she found out (no spoilers) straight through to the media story Cian believed; to her walking away, refusing to compromise after his reaction and still remaining unselfish, ready to do right by others regardless of the pain it would cause her. Strong, no doormat here from day one.

Cian, well, I just loved him from day one. Truly, the balance this author portrayed of great strength, of necessary vulnerability with both is just outstanding. This is a re-read for me. You can read each as a stand alone but I highly recommend the series in its entirety. I'm skeptic after a great first book in a rock star series especially anyone after the lead singer's book, I've encountered the next book not close to as good as the first. I worried no one could compare to Ella and Cian, well, I was wrong, each book gets more phenomenal.

Bravo to this author. I will most certainly read more from her in the future.

Sex, well written. Substance abuse in alcohol, slightly. Cursing, yes it is a rock star read. Cheating, no.

100% recommend.

WHAT A BEAUTIFUL BOOK
A book that you start with a smile and end with a smile. You hang upon every word and wait with impatience for the end. Until its the end and you wish it'll continue because you don't want to let go of the characters you've come to know and understand, most of all to love
This book is a roller coaster ride filled with love, sadness, laughter, betrayal and flustering moments, but I am very pleased with the ending of this book.

Ella is a wonderful woman, she has dreams even though she keeps facing the treacherous twists and turns of life. And Cian who succeeds to follow his dreams but keeps making the stupidest mistakes when it comes to love.
Shauna McDonnell keeps you hanging wondering and even cursing these two for making the wrong decisions from time to time. It is a must read! It shows that in a relationship you can survive any ups and downs, how if you finally speak up and say how you feel you'll get to be with the person you love and cherish! I simply loved it.

I picked up this book at 9pm hoping to read a chapter to help tire me for bed. I found myself enthralled by the story needing too know what happened to Ella and Cian. More eager to read the next page than the last. I couldn't go to bed without knowing the ending to this epic love story and at 5.30am I closed the book with a big smile plastered on my face.

I absolutely loved and devoured it!I I am extremely excited to order the second book in the series, knowing with Shauna's brilliant writing it will live up to ever expectation I have.

Happy sigh.

Irish man, Irish music, Irish cottage, Irish family. This is the stuff romance dreams are made of.

I flew through this contemporary rockstar romance in one sitting. It's sweet and steamy, with moments of real angst. I loved all the relationships - the band, Cian's family, the fierce friendships between the women. There's so much to love in this story and I CANNOT WAIT to read the stories of each band member! Like, now.

Weaving a playlist throughout was a nice touch. Knowing what a scene sounds like deepens the connection to the story.

Highly recommend!

i received this ARC for an honest review.

i truly wanted to LOVE this book. while there were some really good moments, i felt as though the pacing was very quick.

this is the story of cian and bella. they meet one night at a lock and key event on valentine’s day. it was love at first site. six years later, they are reunited in which cian finds out he has a son. i think that croi is my favorite part of this book. the relationship that everyone had with him made the story.

overall, i finished this book in less than two days. if you are looking for a quick romance, this is the story for you. i wish it was a little slower, but it was a quick and fun read.

This was a cute book and was better then I thought it would have been for a debut novel. Cain and Ella have a one night stand that leaves them with more then a fun night lol. Fast forward six years later and they meet again and he finds out he has a son with a women he hasn’t forgotten. This was a easy enjoyable read

Good Start

I enjoyed this book very much, introducing a hot Irish rock band, lead singer Cian is up first. A chance encounter when the band is starting to take off leads to the love of a lifetime for Ella Andrews. While there are familiar themes throughout the story, they are handled in a way that makes for a romance to root for. I especially liked the way the introduction to the rest of the series was woven into the book without missing a beat or detracting from Cian and Ellas journey.

I absolutely adored this book. I literally felt EVERY emotion. I haven't had a book do that for me in a long time.
It was written and woven together so beautifully.
I had a hard time putting it down, but only did because I needed sleep lol.
I love that Cian and Ella speak their mind and especially at the beginning of the book, she was a confident woman that spoke her mind and didn't filter anything. It remained true through the whole book.
So many emotional ups and downs and steamy love scenes. I definitely recommend this book!

Do not read this book unless you’re prepared to swoon! ♥

Shauna McDonnell had me laughing from the very first sentence. There are quite a few of those laugh out loud moments (many provided by the cast of lovable secondary characters) but this book is so much more than funny. Luck has witty banter, sweet romance, steamy scenes, and the perfect amount of emotional angst.

...Did I mention the hot Irish rockstars?

This book is the first of a series following the four members of a band called 4Clover. Luck is about the lead singer Cian - tall, tatted (think Stephen James) and intense AF. I’m officially starting a petition for an audiobook so I can hear him say stuff like this in his Irish accent:

“Ella May Andrews is my last song. My last first kiss. She is the first and last girl to own me, heart and soul. I know deep down she is my forever. I just need to prove that to her.”

Other things I like about this book:

♥ Each chapter title is a song, and they are all perfectly chosen to serve as a thematic accompaniment to the chapter’s content (the author even has a playlist on Spotify so you can listen along…it takes the reading experience to another level)
♥ The author drops in these little morsels of intrigue for each of the side characters that have me anxiously awaiting their individual stories.
♥ The female protagonist is a strong independent woman, which I always consider a bonus!

Oh, you wanted to know what it’s about? Here’s the lowdown. (Minor spoiler ahead!)

A hot rockstar you say? I knew I have to read it. Who would have thought one night can change your life forever? Cian and Ella’s story has all the feels, trials, and triumphs of a young relationship. There are so many things they have yet to learn about life (I’m just going to leave it like that not to spoil the story) but somehow they managed to find the balance to work around the challenges.

Shauna Mc Donnell’s debut, Luck, may have the sass and humor I enjoy reading in a book, but it also has that seriousness that touched me emotionally.

A good feel book that deserved to be picked up by romance readers.

Ok, so this book sounded SOOO good...
The Storyline was really good, cute even, however for me i thought the book was a little fast paced but that's just my opinion, i like having a build up and a little background before rushing in.
Also for me personally it was maybe a little to not cheesy but over the top romantic but again i do normally stick to a certain type of book.
All in all it was a really cute and sweet read and i will read the next book to the series :)

Could not put this down!

Ella and Cian sucked me in from the beginning. Their second chance romance was sweet and steamy and heartwarming. I definitely shed a tear or two during the "break up" scene but by the time the epilogue came, I was swimming in happiness. I absolutely adore the women in this world, Cassie, Rosie, and Lily and hopefully each one receives a happily ever after.
