'PUNPKINS FOR CHEAP'
This book should never be read by anyone. It's gross and immature. It's almost as if a small child wrote it. If you enjoy poorly written dark humor, you might like this book. I mean, there's a chapter titled 'Tampons Are Not Yummy'. So use your imagination as to what kind of story this is.
This book will get bad reviews (if anyone ever reads it). I expect that. If I had to review it, I would say it was the dumbest book I have ever read/wrote. However, it does make me laugh. (Oh yeah, it's kinda gross too.) At least it's a short read (only about 50 pages).
Plus, it could be scary. What if maggots evolved and wanted to take over the world?
A maggot has invaded Jimbo's brain. The maggot has plans to make baby maggots and sell them inside jack-o-lanterns..
PLUS A BONUS STORY TITLED 'THEM BONES'
'Them Bones' is the most disturbing story I have ever written. It is true body horror! Probably one of the most twisted and bloodiest stories I have ever written. (About 35 pages long.) No spoilers, but it's about a man who falls in love with a skeleton. The skeleton asks him to make her pretty.

This is a collection of two dark Halloween horror tales. In the first, PUNPKINS FOR CHEAP, Jimbo has been infected by a sentient maggot host that wants to take over the world. The maggot proceeds to spread its infection, commanding Jimbo to spread its eggs through Halloween pumpkins. We see how the various larvae make it through the neighborhood. Gory and intense. In A TALE FOR HALOWEEN, Albert Weiss is a police officer who purchases a skeleton at a Halloween store (Julia the skeleton, LOL) and bonds with it. Things get a bit creepy when Julia begins talking to him and telling him to make her pretty, so of course he needs to make her a human suit. Picture Silence of the Lambs in all its creepy glory. The perfect read for horror fans looking for something Halloween-themed!

My first thought while reading Punkins for Cheap: Wow, what a thoroughly disgusting story! I have seldom been so grossed-out by a book, but this comically-irreverent tale of a sentient maggot with a plan to rule the world managed to creep me out in the opening page and just about every subsequent one. As if this is not enough, the author thoughtfully threw in a bonus story, Them Bones, in which a police officer falls in love with a plastic skeleton; no spoilers! Stay far away from this book if you are faint of heart or weak of stomach, but if you seek stark and cheeky entertainment, look no further!

To be fair, the author tells you up front in the author note at the beginning of the book that it's bad, they expect bad reviews, and agrees that it should. It was indeed pretty bad, but I did get a slight chuckle a couple of times from the absolute absurdity of it, so that's a plus.
The bonus story, Them Bones, included at the end was a little better - very different tonally but not my cup of tea still. Brutal body horror about a guy falling in love with a plastic skeleton trying to make it pretty.
I've never read anything else by Sea, but based on the author note and reviews of other books it sounds like this was just a fun little aside from the more serious writing, so maybe another story is in order down the line

4.5 rounded up. Two disturbing stories which I read over Halloween. The first about parasites that want to take over the world - I just thought of Pinky and the Brain here LMAO. This story has potential. The second is about wanting a significant love so much, logic and rationale goes out the window.
These stories are to tickle your funny-bone and not to be taken seriously - which is what I did, and enjoyed them that way.
Recommended for a little laugh.

This book isn’t for the queasy. If you into maggots and poop, this book right here is the one. I’m not a maggot person, and the whole time reading this my butt was quenching due to the description of some of this here book. The maggots are invading peoples bodies and trying to take over and rule the world.i wasn’t to keen about how it ended, wish it would have kept going. I did like the fact that there is a bonus story afterwards though.

Another great read by Sea. This was different and more hokey than her other stuff, but still fun. Punpkins was a great and funny story, with a lot of repulsive gore. The descriptions were great and the internal monologue of the maggots was even better. This isn't for someone looking for a serious story, her disclaimer in the beginning is a good indication. Enjoy

This book is full of poop and I loved it!
Pumpkins exhibits a side of the writer that is light, childish (in a good way), and bizarre. It is a side of Sea Caummisar that was unexpected after having read books like #1 Fan and Raised by a Killer, and I am thrilled that to have discovered this side exists.
Pumpkins was so much fun that it begs for a sequel. Admittedly, Caummisar gives us a quite satisfying ending, but it left me thinking, 'Sure, that is all well and good, but what happens when maggot becomes fly?' Certailnly, that gives me shivers.
Pumpkins came with a bonus story, Them Bones, but I wish it hadn't. I didn't enjoy Bones at all. It was slow, predoctable, uneventful, and anticlimactic. Plus, and worst of all, it took away some of the good feelings I felt after reading Pumpkins. If I could rate them separately, I would only give Bones one star.

First story 2.5/5 ⭐️: About a father and son carving pumpkins with a *secret ingredient* in them to sell to the neighborhood. I just wanted to read this for the Splatterpunk Halloween theme combo. This story was entertaining but could’ve been better!
Second Story 3.5/5 ⭐️: Honestly wished this one was the longer one, it reminded me of something I would see on Criminal Minds! It’s about a lonely man who falls in love with a fake (ehh could he real i suppose?) skeleton and does whatever it takes to make her into the perfect wife!!! I liked the psychological aspect to the this and the MC’s profession is fitting IMO lmao. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for gross morbid Halloween stories!

Don't let the title - Punpkins - make you think this is a Halloween story for kids. It is not. A maggot taking over a live body. Planning to take over the world. Gross. Then the bonus story. A cop falls in love with a plastic skeleton and wants to make her happy any way she wants.
I listened to Audible version of this book. The narrator presented it very well.
It's funny. It's gross. It's disgusting. It's so entertaining. Thank goodness it's short.

Happy Halloween
The first story was really gross and I stopped eating my popcorn while reading it but I still loved it! I actually loved the second story better. I actually laughed out loud and couldn't believe he took her to the Dr!!!! That cracked me up and I pictured the Dr's face. Write gross stuff and your usual stuff they are both worth reading!

Funny grotesque little read. Both stories were great. Maggots and cop falling in love with A skeleton. Sea always amazes me. She is a very detailed, descriptive and interesting writer. I have enjoyed all her books I have read from her. Will continue to read the ones I haven’t and all new ones she puts out.

Two short stories perfect for the Halloween season - and I enjoyed both, even though they have different tones.
The first, about maggots on a mission to take over the world, was disgusting yet funny at the same time. The second about a man who falls in love with a skeleton, was darker and more unsettling.

Weird, gory disturbing book.
Weird, gory and different. The first story was just gross. These worm like creatures infesting and controling humans. The second story in the book I liked even better, I just wish it was longer and more to it.

This was a change of pace for the author, though still horror. Yes, I know, when an author builds a "brand" some people might be disappointed if it doesn't fit the brand exactly. On the other hand, a fresh approach isn't a negative. The two stories in this book, especially the first one, have a playful quality that I appreciated. Kudos to Sea Caummisar.

the Maggots Had me DYING! Both stories had me laughing all the way through.
You'll laugh, You'll be disgusted, You'll have a great time whilst doing so!

I got such a laugh from reading these.
