Everything changed when I crashed into a food truck.
It all started with a brutal hill. An incline that I was determined to crest. One, long, punishing climb with my thighs screaming as I pumped the pedals for all I was worth. That hill could have been a metaphor for my whole life. I was climbing out of the crater left by a broken heart, ready to seize control again. Making it up that hill was a good first step.
Then I hit the food truck.
Enter Reese Riley, blond, gorgeous, stunning sapphire eyes and the kind of smile to set my blood on fire. No way he was real. With charm to spare, he walked me home and then asked me out. Then he introduced me to his friends—Briggs, Goran, and Dalton. Stunning men, all of them. Funny, too. They flirted, they teased, and they indulged. They were incredible, each of them, and they fit into my life like they’d been born to be there. I didn’t know whether to celebrate or to run like hell.
Oh, and did I mention they were aliens?
*Please note this is a reverse harem and the authors suggest you always read the forwards in their books. This is the first in a trilogy.
I love books. Not just a little bit, but a lot. Books were my best friends when I was growing up. Books didn’t care if I was new to a town or to a class. They were always there, my trustiest of companions. Until they turned on me and said I had to write them.
I can tell you that my own personal happily ever after included writing books. I’ve always said that an HEA is a work in progress. It’s true in my marriage, my friendships, and in my career. I am constantly nurturing my muse as we dive into new tales, new tropes, new characters and more.
After seventeen years back in Texas, we relocated to the Pacific Northwest in search of seasons, new experiences, and new geography. I can’t wait to discover what life (and my muse) have in store for me.
Maybe writing was always my destiny and romance my fate. After all, my grandmother wasn’t a fan of picture books and used to read me her Harlequin Romance novels.
Friends to lovers, enemies to lovers, friends to enemies to lovers, you name it, I love them and love to write them. I started with Earth Witches Aren’t Easy, the first in the Chance Monroe trilogy, but my characters and I have traveled a long way since I created that urban fantasy world.
One of the series I hear my readers recommend the most is the Untouchable series followed in quick succession by the Vandals, and that just delights me. No lie, whenever one of my readers brings up my wolves, I do a little a fist pump.
I’m active on social media, and I love hearing from readers. Feel free to tag me with a question about any of my books, or just say hi!
I'm not sure I cared for this read. The beginning was amazing but the longer I read the boring it got. I liked our heroine in the beginning, she was a roll with the punches kinda gal, but she also soon lost my fondness with the hysterical laughter and crying. She let a man she dated for 3 years ruin her but has mini melt downs being saved by hot alien guys? I was also confused how she was mad, needed answers, and needed to be alone one page then sexy time with these guys. About 74% I was skipping pages and bored to tears.
2.5 Stars The storyline is interesting, the writing is good but the book is boring. I don't know if that makes any sense. All I know is that I feel like I deserve a medal for finishing this book. It was interesting but lacked that thing that made me want to get to the next page. I think the only reason I finished it is because I kept on hoping that something worthwhile will happen. It didn't.
This is the 2nd book of Heather that I found the premise interesting but they somehow failed to hold my interest enough to get to the next book. I am not sure I want to give her writing another chance.
This was cute. I am really not one for insta love, but I have come to expect it from this author. I will say that it works for the way the story is written because even though only a few days have passed, so much shit happens so I can see the love forming that fast.
Khloe is a good female MC. Even though she didn't really ask questions, they were always in the back of her mind. She wasn't just being oblivious, she knew something was going on with the guys.
I am looking forward to see where this series goes.
The jury is still out about my feelings for the book... I will need to continue to read this series to pin point a better review... So right everything is up in the air... Onto book 2 I go!
Super sweet reverse harem space opera. Sweet is not normally my thing, but it works here. Ends on a cliffhanger, so for that reason alone, Ill go on to the next.
Queenmaker is part one of a trilogy, what that means is that this is a continuing journey that progresses through each book to the end.
In this book we meet Khloe, she's still recuperating from a break-up in which her ex took everything of value from her. She's riding her bicycle and thinking of all that injustice when she crashes into a food truck.
Reese is the first to aid her and as he walks with her to see her safely home, he also convinces her to join him and his friends for a drink.
To be on the safe side she calls her best friend Grace to join her. Grace isn't with her very long though, since she runs into her on again off again boyfriend Maurice.
The initial meeting with Briggs, Goran, and Dalton is fun and flirty and interrupted twice, once by a woman who is more than a little tipsy, and once by Grace.
One of the most confusing things for Khloe is her attraction to all four of these men. They are able to persuade her that it is the way they would prefer it to be and she doesn't have to choose between them.
I love all these characters, the slow, steady progression of each relationship, the warmth and caring, and yes, the love that is just a bit different depending on who you are talking about.
Many interesting revelations, along with wit, fun, kindle melting heat and some danger as Khloe learns about her men and who she really is.
I can't wait to read the next book in this trilogy!
I’m gonna sum up the 3 books in just one review, because I devoured all of them in a little more than 24 hours and I can’t exactly separate my feelings and thoughts about it. I love romance sci-fi’s and I love it even more when it has a very well developed plot, like in this story. Yes, the end was very different from what I imagined it would be and what is “classic” for this kind of story, but it was still a happy and fully end. I loved the little twists and surprises that made the story stand out in general. The main characters were extremely interesting and fun. I loved how the heroine was relatable in her actions and reactions, but also able to be smart and go with what was necessary and felt right for her. There was actually minimal drama between the FMC and the MMCs, their relationship was healthy and with lots of communication. The romance was at most points the side story, considering all 3 books and it made for a great story as a whole. The plot was intriguing and entertaining, the main character was likable and also strong. The dynamics of their powers was very different from others I have read before and made for a lot of intriguing developments. But mostly I adored how the main characters trusted each other and their instincts when was most necessary. My first trilogy by Heather Long and Rebecca Royce was a great hit. I hadn’t read any of these authors before, but I really liked their writing style and their ability to create something new and unique. There are a lot of overdone concepts that seem like all of the same but in different fonts, so it was nice to have something refreshing and entertaining. I will be looking forward to more of their stories in the future.
Meet Khloe with a K...not after the tv show 😉. She's big hearted, just got out of a horrible relationship, and her life is about to change in 5....4....3...2....1! Biking out her frustrations she suddenly runs into a very, very hot guy named Reece. In a matter of moments he's got her agreeing to meet himself and his friends later that night. Instantly feeling she can trust him, she's no clue just how true that statement would be. Strange things she can't explain start happening, and she learns that she's far, far from who she thought she was. In fact she's not even human? Join the adventure and see Khloe truly become the powerful person she's meant to become. Filled with hot aliens, one feisty big hearted woman, lots of suspense and possible impending doom. I can't wait to see what's next!
Oh. My. Gosh!!! I absolutely loved this book. This is one of those books where you just know from the start you’ll love it. The main character is so likable and relatable. The guys, *sigh, the guys. They are the best group of guys I’ve read about in a while. They are so kind, caring, respectful, protective, generous, and damn adorable in so many ways. The ending is a bit of a cliffhanger, but I’m someone who doesn’t mind a cliffhanger. But, let me tell you, I’m all in with this one and hope that book two is here quickly.
I loved this book. It exceeded all expectations I had and was just so good! The characters, the plot, and this world that is only just beginning to develop have completely taken my heart and I couldn’t have enjoyed this story more if I tried! I’m SOOOO excited for the next book, it’s not even funny.
Loved this book! I have been a fan of sci-fi RH but haven’t read any for some time. Fast paced, interesting storyline, interstellar characters and steamy scenes make this a must read. It will be interesting to see what happens next!
In fact, I barely started this book. I stopped reading the second one of her love interests made her fall asleep and forget. That's a trope I absolutely cannot stand, it ruins the whole book for me. Just not for me
I'm a freshman to Reverse Harem. I don't know if I will graduate to sophomore. There are some things that I love about Reverse Harem, and somethings I don't. I digress; Heart of the Nebula was a different Reverse Harem than most I have read; it wasn't as intense. It was sweet, gentle, and at times I thought it was kind of corny. Oh, let me go back and explain that this review is for all 3 books in the series.
Queenmaker started out good, and then it kind of lagged, and then it picked back up. I love Khloe and the guys. My only complaint was I thought the authors were a bit over the top with the pet names the guys had for Khloe. My rating for it is a 4.
For some odd reason I wasn't that invested in Deal Breaker. Yes, there was some interesting surprises in it, and you got to see Khloe and the guys bond strength, but those pet names drove me crazy. Sometimes I thought the authors used sex as a filler. My rating for it is a 3
Throne Taker was about the same as Queenmaker. I liked seeing Khloe grow in her role as queen. It was exciting to read about all the espionage, and learn things about her home planet. I wish the authors would have spent more time on world building. There was more I wanted to learn about the guys and their past, and how they survived on the planet without Khloe. I had questions that never got answered; therefore my rating is a 4.
I wish the authors would have taken the time to extend the series. I felt there was more that needed to be said and more I wanted to learn about these characters. Also, the way the series ended left room for them to possibly expand on this series.
What an incredible dynamic from two independently amazing authors! Khloe with a K (who was named long before that show 😉), is picking up her life after a 3 year relationship goes out the window - along with most of her possessions. Her ex apparently subscribed to the “what’s yours is mine, what’s mine is...mine”theory, leaving Khloe with no car, scant furniture, and a lease she can’t afford. But she works hard to make rent until her lease is up. Having indulged in way too much pity party food over the last three months, she shakes it off and splurges on a bicycle, both for transportation and exercise. Struggling up a long hill that’s kicking her ass, Khloe bears down and fights the fatigue, surging forward with a primal yell! Right into the side of a food truck. Oops. Lucky for her a good (hello, gorgeous!) Samaritan jumps out of his car to help her. As kind as he is, she’s no fool. As nice as it would be to allow him to take her and her bike the five miles home, she just isn’t that trusting. Mostly ok, but with a mangled bike she sets off towards home. The Good Samaritan, Reese, insists on walking her to make sure she arrives safely. She allows him to walk her two of the five miles, and somewhere along the way he gets her to agree to meet up with him and his best friends that evening for a drink. She agrees that she and her best friend Grace will meet them. And that’s when things really get interesting!
Khloe with a K has had a rough go. Her boyfriend of 3 years just took almost everything and ditched her, her mom's in an institution because she can't remember she's a mom- among other things, and life is continuing to go downhill fast. No, wait. That's her bicycle. And, yep, there's the truck she's going to smash into. The rescue from the nice blonde guy with the pretty eyes was a nice hallucination. Maybe she's more like her mom than she thought? Heck, she's pretty good, she's hallucinating 3 more with pretty eyes, too. And they all seem to like her?
Spoilers ahead. This was interesting. It's the "you're not from here, you're someone special, and we're here to take you away" trope. But, I like the angles used. It was a little heartbreaking in places. And I thought Khloe was a little obtuse, deliberately so. I mean, if her people are in danger from a controlling group, and she decides to stay here with the guys who would be their best defense against these bad guys- and the bad people are also trying to control her long lost sister (so, hey, family on the line, too), it seems a little selfish. If it was before the big reveal, and she was still convinced she was human it would be believable. Dooming an entire civilization just because you're hurt and scared? A little petty. But, the reactions are believable. People would be hurt to discover their whole life was a lie. Every aspect of it. (I'm not giving away the huge spoilers because it would take away from the story.) What person would want to stay in Earth, in debt, a waitress surviving on tips (because pay sucks), constantly looking over their shoulder for the next attack. And worse, endangering everyone around them? But, change is also hard. And humans may dream of leaving the planet and exploring, but it's all just dreams at this point. I would have enjoyed more world building, just hints here and there of their home. And why many races look human, and some decidedly don't. But, Khloe was so resistant to the idea, it wouldn't have been an effective lure.
I’m trying to only review this one, but it’s hard because I’ve lost interest in book 2.
For this first book I really liked the world building and plot. We have aliens disguised as humans and raised on Earth. I love reverse harem. I love fated mates.
The characters were likeable but I wasn’t so intrigued by any of them. Khloe was interesting, but the guys fawned over her a little too much. I know there’s a cultural difference, but she was fairly ordinary for a human and they basically worshiped her for being kind and hard working etc. The guys were a little stereotypical, but I liked the bond they had with each other.
Steam: the guys are all virgins, beyond that it’s sweet not spicy I pretty much only read books with steam. I love the steam. I found myself skimming it in this book. It’s so poetic. She’s constantly going on about the stars, and their love making basically making her travel through time and space. It’s honestly over the top.
If you enjoy science fiction, complex world-building, and interesting characters - unfortunately, this book is not for you. I'm sorry if this sounds harsh, but this book hit all of my must-hate points and just let down from the beginning. There is no world-building. No character building or development. The heroine is a textbook Mary Sue who is a superficial character who is for inexplicable reasons made to be absolutely perfect. She meets four hot alien guys who all immediately fall in love with her, praise her for character traits she doesn't even have and she's completely fine with it. The story was as unrealistic as it was boring and nothing really piqued my interest.
I really loved this book, even though I'm usually not a fan of sci-fi. The fact these authors made the main characters (aliens) similar to humans helps.
Khloe with a K has had her fair share of bad luck. When she meets 4 men who reveal the truth about her heritage, her life takes a complete turn. Gradually we learn more and more, but some mysteries remain.
The writing was impeccable and contributes to the action packed and fast-paced book. I loved how the heroine wasn't all standoffish when it came to the boys, she showed some hesitation, but was never annoying in the way she acted. This is one of my pet peeves, so I was thrilled that there was a lot of progress in the relationship development. The devotion of the men is everything. They made me swoon on multiple occasions.
This book ends with a mild cliffhanger, but the series is complete, so no need to wait for the next book to release. Win-win!
I'm not sure what to think of this book-it's left me rather confused. As a whole I liked it, and I will be reading the next book, but there was a lack of substance in the world building. It could be that I'm not a fan of insta-love and the entire book took place over three days, with sexy times with three guys happening within that time. That said, the writing was good, the story line was interesting, and most of the characters were distinct enough to have their own personalities. Fingers crossed book two gives more depth to the series.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I really enjoyed the start to this series, I’ve read both of these authors individual works previously so to stumble across this combined work was a gem!
I love Khloe, she’s so great and I really like her sense of humour! The guys.. well what can I say other than just pure yum! They’re so sweet and totally besotted with her. I really enjoyed the world building and plot, that ending though, poor Khloe! Im really looking forward to seeing what her powers can do though.. I have a feeling there will be hell to pay!
These two authors are a match made in heaven. I love a good scifi alien book and this is one of the best I've read in a while. Khloe with a K is an extremely relatable character. She has the same fears and troubles that we all have, even if hers are on a galactic level. I absolutely adore the guys. They are next level swoonworthy. I'm excited to read more in this series.
Well at first I was not sure about this book. It was strange and I wasn't too sure about this reverse harem stuff and all of a sudden it just clicked. It blew me away. It may be a reverse harem but it was not just about meaningless sex with a bunch of guys . There was a real story behind it all. A Really good science fiction story. Looking forward to the next book and hoping it is as good as the first
I've enjoyed the author's "82 Street Vandals" series so far, so I thought I'd give this one a try, but I wasn't crazy about it. Main character's okay, but there's some setup I really don't care for, and not crazy about the whole "we sent our precious baby away to Earth to protect her and while she'll grow up not nothing anything about us she'll definitely return in time to save / rule us" storyline.
Borrowed from Kindle Unlimited.

I really loved the first book. The story line was good and the humor in it was great. Unfortunately the humor did not continue into the next to books. The last 2 books lacked detail as well. I think this series could have been longer with more details written into the story line. Even so I still really liked this series and can't wait to read more from both author's.
I've been slowly moving into alien romance with Michael Anderle and Stacy Jones. This currently read more like super heroes but still amazing. Can't wait to read more. JL
This was a DNF for me, the beginning had my interest but it quickly got boring unfortunately. Main character totally likable, the guys they seem like they could be as well but just not enough to hold my attention.
I’m enjoying the depth of the details. It’s not too much and perfectly descriptive. The humor and storyline are fun and interesting. The characters show depth and are easy to connect with. A really good read.
