I couldn't finish this book. I just couldn't. I was at 67% of the book when I was just done. I am very ANTI harem style books. The others in this series were okay as it hadn't truly turned into a harem yet, but this one was just STUPID. He literally goes up against an assassin who actually takes his head off and thank you Mel's blessing for keeping him alive, but now he suddenly falls for her and says he has to have her and he loves her. I don't care how much of a battle junkie he is, that was beyond stupid.

The rest of the plot that was revealed actually sounds interesting and has a lot of potential for interest, but the dang Harem thing just ruins everything for me.

I really hope you all like this series better than I did. Let me rephrase this, the book. Because the beginning of this series is amazing to me.

Not so serious fun, though the humor in this series is wearing thin

This series does not take itself too seriously. It isn't quite a parody of the genre, like konosuba, or at least if it's meant to be a parody it isn't that obvious. It's playful and humorous and lighthearted. It's fairly pleasant to read, provided you know what to expect when starting it.

That said, as pleasant and fun as the story is, at this point in the series the homophobic, transphobic, and sexual harassment jokes are worn out through their repetition, and pushed too far. It really detracts from the enjoyment offered from the otherwise lighthearted fun.

I do not appreciate the way Pretia is used as a transphobic joke. It would be one thing if it was just the one or two male characters being chased that are written with such a clear dislike. However to write that all the men in the entire tournament arena had to head to the bathrooms to puke due to them is just downright hateful.

Looking forward to more

Overall a pretty good continuation of the series. Action, romance and comedy, this book kinda has it all to different degrees. Looking forward to the next book, and hopefully the conclusion of the tournament.

Love a good tournament arc in a isekai if u like this story definitely read Reincarnated into a Sword they have a great story and tournament arc. Also the black dragon character get weirder and weirder

Tournament arcs are not my thing even more so when it is just about fighting with no overarching arc. I found the story incredibly boring.
