Musica Mundana is a masterpiece of a short story, but almost all the rest left me pretty cold. Musica Mundana involves a jaded Japanese composer (currently photographer) going to an island where music and songs are used as both property and currency to investigate a song his father left him. The whole story is interesting and well told and the ending is fantastic. I also liked Toki no Tobira as it kinda reminds me of alchemist gate by Ted Chang. The rest were honestly not my cup of tea at all, the main story being a time travel thriller that has an extremely unsatisfying resolution.
